  1. No one has mentioned video pinball, when you get the bumper thing up to nines...
  2. /|Pitbull - Sorry to dredge this ol' thread up again, but I'm kinda new and wasn't keeping track! That's what I wanted to find out. The picture on the front was similar to the Activision, so that's why I was interested. I went back there to get it the next day, and it was behind the counter with the NES stuff, but they STILL hadn't priced it, so I couldn't purchase it again! And I just bet it was the most valuable cartridge ever!!
  3. Oh yeah, I wanted to comment on the Willy Wonka thing too! (even though it's not Atari related). I thought Gene Wilder in that show was the scariest man ever! The Ooompa loomas were frightening also. I thought I was the only one that was scared of that show.. I still am!
  4. I stumled upon this one.... http://www.packratvg.com./ click on Atari 2600 I haven't tried to order from it though... not sure if those are the prices you're looking for, but it's not e-bay!
  5. yeah, it was a tandy cartridge. I think it was supposed to play on the tandy color computer. I will probably go back there tomorrow, and see if it went back out - but mostly to check if they put out any Atari 2600 stuff. And there better be a price marked on it! Someone in this forum did give useful tips for thrifting - I found the Tandy cart plus one NES mixed up with the 8 tracks and casettes. *sigh* If only there were some for the 2600....
  6. Well, I said I was never gonna hunt down additional Atari carts for my collection - but today I went and checked out two thrifts in the area. It was disappointing to say the least. I did see a lot of NES gams for $1.61 each though. One thing that really pissed me off - I found a cartridge called "Super Pitfall" by Tandy. Even though it wasn't for my 2600 I wanted it. There was no price on it but I figured it would cost about the same as the NES stuff. After waiting in line for 10 minutes, the checkout person told me that she couldn't sell it to me b/c there was no price. It would go to the "back room" for pricing and I could return tomorrow and find it! As if I even could, in that grime-pile. What a crummy policy! Funny how you can get so irritated about something you didn't even want that much in the first place!
  7. Thanks for all of the information! I never thought I'd be interested in all of this other stuff after getting my 2600 (I got it only to play the games I had in childhood). But as I read this board, I found that there is alot of stuff about ATARI that is interesting. As kids, we were blissfully unaware of all the "business-y" things going on behind the scenes. I found it interesting that people think that Pac-man helped start the decline for 2600. Back then, even though I knew the graphics and sounds sucked, I played for hours on end. Ahhh, to be young and innocent again....
  8. Okay, I haven't really spent much time looking for the answer, but I'd like to read up on how Atari went from Nolan to Infogrames. It sounds interesting. Does anyone have any links? Or a quick and dirty summary? Just curious!
  9. Atari 2600 121 (22.9%) Super Nintendo (SNES) 69 (13.0%) Playstation 2 58 (11.0%) Nintendo (NES) 50 (9.5%) XBox 36 (6.8%) Genesis 24 (4.5%) GameCube 23 (4.3%) woo-hoo!!!
  10. I think that those Atari anniversary edition games are marketed toward the 30-something parents that have kids who already own the game system. For example, my child has gameboy advance, and I bought the Atari Aniversary cartridge out of curiosity. Same for the N64 (a cartridge that has Ms. Pac man, Galaga, Dig Dug, etc.) Good marketing, I thought.
  11. oh yeah, I almost forgot. I did some market research on this. My child "grew up" on Nintendo 64. (I think that makes him a "classic gamer" too what with PS2 and game cube and all). Anyway, I let him play some games on the 2600. Here are the results: "mom, why is it so blocky? It's kinda lame...." Although, he did seem to enjoy playing some of the games, his favorite one was "California Games" Go figure.
  12. "chika bow, chika bow - bow" like that? how did nsync and heavy metal get in the same post????
  13. I have ET now, but didn't have it as a kid. So I don't know how to play it. When I tried it, I just kept landing in pits. Then ETs neck would get really long. That's about it.
  14. The room you are in suddenly goes dark. A madly flickering ghost races by. You reach for a match...
