The red labels are my favorite. They look very classy. Kinda like the difference between the multicolored uniforms on the original Star Trek show vs. the maroon colored uniforms on the movies 2-6.i agree! im not so much a star trek buff, but yeah great analogy!
-
You should ask AX how much he likes Atari red labels, and even more so CIB!
Some of the red labels are more of a brownish color though.
awesome! ax is the man! i didnt know he liked the red and or reddish brown lables! i will have to mention them. im not so much a cib guy. maybe one day, but i just have to open up anything i get, ,just to be the first to open it lol

i got a 7800 ballblazer today with the nice red end label, and it reminded me just how uniform the 7800 carts look lined up and it also reminded me how uniform the 2600 red labels are! very cool. so i plan to hunt for the red label carts now. along with a nice jr. anyone else collect mainly red labels?

What else comes to mind...OK, so now here are some less serious fighting games:
- Renegade (yeah - it really wants to be it...)

- Indiana Jones - The Last Crusade (yeah - as above, now what's different?)

What about some "Fake games" topic - there are many of them on 8-bit.
And some more serious:
- Riot
Btw. "Yie Ar..." project is not dead, just sleeping a bit now.

yie ar looks great! how playable is it at this point? renegade .. yeah . lol im sure the karate champ type games will hold me over and i will just dig for as many as i can find and cypher through them.

Well,no DD game on the A8, at least none I know of... but here are some fighting games:
- Karateka
- International Karate / World Karate Championships
- Chop Suey
- Ninja Master (oh what a boring one!)
- Ninja (not really a fighting game, but with some elements)
- Ninja Commando (I call it a jump and run type game, but some count it for the fighting genre)
- Bruce Lee (definitely a jump and run, but one can choose the 2-player option and fight one another)
- how about boxing? Fight for Life, errrr, Fight Night comes to mind
- Knock out boxing (by Rushware or Anco)
- another boxing game (by Anco or Rushware)
- or street fighting ?!? polish game "Riot" comes to mind (I don`t like it, but anyway...)
and some PD stuff:
- Kung Fu (type-in Basic listing from Computer kontakt)
- Karate Champ II (compiled Basic)
- Bruce Lee`s return (TB XL by M.Guntersdorfer)
- Karate Master (originally Atari Basic, but you probably know Homesoft...)
- and some more
just search atarimania with their advanced search options... -Andreas Koch.
thank you! yeah im into the boxing games also. knockout boxing ,is that the one that looks like punchout. if it plays good imsure i would really like that one, even with out a double dragon type game, looks liek there are plenty of options!

I think (not tried) that using a 4GB card will be possible to use, but only the first 2GB will be accessable. That depends. The SD standard defines sizes up to 2GB. Cards with 4GB and more usually use the SDHC standard. There were a few 4GB SD (not SDHC!) cards, but since this size is not officially defined in the SD standard many devices might not be compatible with it.
Then: SDHC cards don't work in devices that only support SD. I tried this once with my USB cardreader, it wouldn't even recognize the SDHC card.
I haven't tested it with the SIO2SD, but I doubt it supports the SDHC protocol.
Anyways: I'd just recommend buying a 2GB SD card. Here in Austria a 2GB Kingston SD card costs approx. 4EUR, a 1GB card is almost the same price (3.50-4 EUR). Smaller cards are almost impossible to get, and if they are available they cost a lot more than 2GB cards (10 EUR and more).
Even if you don't need the space for normal usage, you can use the remaining space for a backup of all your Atari stuff.
so long,
Hias
thanx guys for all the advice i will snag up a few from ebay they are cheap on there.and try out my options, yeah i may use the extra space later for something i suppose , thanx again guys!

I know there is a sio2sd thread already on this forum. Perhaps you'd better ask it there? But 512MB is already a lot of space for atari 8bit.
My personal experience is that when you have lots of space, you fill it up with good and bad games/demos and stuff.
When you have less space, you are more 'secure' in which software you add, and which not.
Remember: when you put all the software available on that SD card, you will have a very hard time browsing the software.
Even when you make categories, it is still a pain in the backside to get through directories.
So that's why I write: just put the things you (really) use/play/like on it, and leave the rest on your PC/MAC/Internet.
I'm rather sure that in that case 16 or 32MB is already enough!
When you are planning to run a BBS ... you need more space. And for backup/archiving you'll need more space too. But I think that last thing is not the first goal of sio2sd.
When you use ATR's only (so no binaries like .xex/.com) on your 512MB SD card, and the average size of an ATR (normal size) is 133KB results in space for about 4000 atr's.
I have setup one 16MB ATR for games and demo's and that is filled for 75% now. But imagine: On 512MB fit 32 of these large partitions! I'm not going to fill that in my whole life (again: with stuff I really want to play/see/hear/use)
Anyway: have fun with your device. It's a very nice one.
Marius
thank you !! thats the answer i was looking for. i totally agree it turns into "i got this many games" instead of what i play, thats why i was asking.i will go with the 512 because i do plan to use xex files also. and im sure i will never fill it up so to say.

as far as I know no DD...and I guess the 7800 versions of DD and RP are not bad at all...
well thanx i didnt think there was one i will stay on the hunt though, yeah the 7800 versions i think are cool , i havent played the 8 bit rampage yet, ,but i am looking forward to it.. for me,, i think the biggest thing is playing these games on an atari. im just amazed at what they where able to do with these machines!
-
ok so i have been browsing the huge selection of 8 bit games. i have found several fighting games, what i havent seen , is one like double dragon. is there a dd type game for the 8 bits?original or homebrew? i ask because rampage and double dragon are the 2 games that are keeping my 7800 home. i know i can get my rampage on on the 8 bit. just need a dd alternative now.
-
SD cards are cheap enough to just buy one a week, so why not just grab a 2 gig one?yeah well i honestly dont know how big its supports? if it wil lhandle a gig , then i would get a gig, just not sure if there is a limit on what it works with
-
i ordered the sio2sd this eve, looking forward to getting it! anyway, i know most games are very small by todays standards, so i was thinking like a 512 mb sd card, anyone have a rough estimate of howmany that would hold? more than i will ever play im sure

i have a topic in the marketplace requesting interest in the paddle controllers with up and down switch for games such as pole position. just wanted to let you guys now!
-
interest check on 5200 paddle controllers, as in a stock controller with a 2600 paddle on it, also with a switch for up and down for games like pole position, if some of you guys are wanting them, i may make up a few. i know there are other guys doin it, but just thought i would ask.hmmmm how much will they go for??? I think i would be interested!
off the top of my head, with no donor parts= 35.00
with donor 2600 paddle or 5200 stick= 30.00
with both 2600 paddle and 5200 stick= 25.00.

yeah that will go for cheap im sure. i already have a keyboard coming to me , a user here had an extra and should be shipping it monday! thanx for looking out though! You should shop for a complete XEGS. You'll get the keyboard plus a spare computer -- in case the XEGS ever fails. The XEGS is very compatible and durable plus it comes with svideo out for good graphics on a modern TV. Also, you can use the XEGS without a keyboard.Your XEGS has s-video out?
All the ones I've seen have only composite video...
Agree 100% on the suggestion that he should get a 2nd XEGS instead of trying to find just a keyboard for the one he's got. Most likely he can get a complete XEGS for cheaper than B&C sells the keyboard for.
i think i will you guys advice and look for another complete one, i think you are right the price of the keyboard (unless i find a steal) is gonna be just as much as i could get another complete system or close to it anyway. . now who has an extra to trade me! im gonna post in the wanted section.
Right now, there is an auction on ebay that includes a keyboard. It is cheap and uninteresting, so you may want to take a look even if you let the seller keep the vcs.
