Noob thinking of VBXE: How to connect to monitor?
atari8warez replied to Smokeless Joe's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
It maybe old news but here's the performance of the GBS-8220 with an VBXEd 130XE. I think the converter's price/performance ratio is excellent and most people will just be happy with it. This is a test video of a VBXE / U1MB and Simple Stereo install I just finished doing for somebody else. -
Pole Position + voice + VBXE enhancement

Yeah, I found your Quadrillion game, booted up and it looks and sounds great, haven't played any rounds yet, was just verifying my VBXE install. I'll check your other games too. Even though this is not my VBXE (doing install for somebody else), I may play the games on my regular atari monitor (if they also work without VBXE), heck I may even get a VBXE even though I don't really need one, the display and the blitter is simply impressive. -
Located Gury's page here. It's now a .php page instead of .html

Has Gury's VBXE page gone into oblivion!?

Pole Position + voice + VBXE enhancement

Was looking around to find some demos/games to test my installation of VBXE 2.1, were you ever be able to finish this or is it still an ongoing project. I am a racing game fan -
Did you also try calling Jack Tramiel to pay your respects?

BRAND NEW ANTI DUST COVER for ATARI XE
atari8warez replied to as...'s topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Probably not, but we're talking about the material cost here. In a production of small quantities, the determining factor is usually the setup fee to potential sales volume ratio rather than the material itself, unless of course a particular material is unusually expensive. Had the cost of polycarbonate been prohibitive you wouldn't have seen it used in such mundane things like water bottles. That's of course my opinion and i may be wrong, so let's look at the actual costs: I am not sure how thick the computer covers are, but here's some polycarbonate sheet prices for reference. In 0.76 mm (0.03") thickness, they aren't really that expensive. One sheet gives you about 6 covers and purchased at quantities of 25+ the unit price is $10.48, so cost per cover is about $1.75. I don't think that'll break the bank.. -

Oh, didn't know it's more expensive especially knowing that polycarbonate is used in plastic water bottles. I thought that material combined with some tinting (like a sunglass) would help keep most UV rays away from our Ataris. Anyway, just a conversation about different options, like somebody else noted above, it's not a criticism of your product. -
I would avoid buying from gc_supermarket or gc_electronics (same people, on your second link above). They sell counterfeit chips.

BRAND NEW ANTI DUST COVER for ATARI XE

Did you think about using polycarbonate? Apparently it blocks most UV radiation without needing special treatment. -
I don't know, and honestly I just use whatever fuse is available as long as it is the correct amperage rating.
-
That's a good idea, I did blow a couple of fuses by inserting the plug when the drive switch was in the ON position, and the only way to open those PS is to cut it open. I use a dremel and a cutting disk, then use hot glue to put the pieces back together.

Nice work. Would rounding the corners off a bit make it look even better? Just an idea..

600XL isn't that rare, i have two . Nice covers by the way... -
Yeah they'll be repairable from now on, that makes 4 repairables so far. 2 x C017845 and 2 x C061982. Gotta replenish my hot glue stick stock

You need a forklift to carry a 42" CRT. I remember moving my 32" SONY upstairs to my bedroom when I first moved-into my current home. I was lucky and somehow managed to do it by myself but it wasn't easy. I wouldn't attempt it again. That's mainly why it is still in my bedroom
-
It would even have been better if they used screws instead of epoxy on the enclosure. They made these PS to be thrown away even when the fuse is blown, such a waste!..

Looks ugly in there...

You're right.... I went ahead and took the dremel to "The Box" anyway. It looks like (and measures like) both electrolytics have gone south. Need to get some fresh ones..
