  1. Some of my Atari power supplies seem to be giving up the ghost lately. This is the second C061982 ("The Box"), which failed recently. All I am getting from my computers is a scrambled screen like in the video below when I try to use the power supply. The voltage with computer turned OFF is 5.17v at the power connector, it drops to 4.50v with the power switch turned ON. My question is what could possibly go wrong with this type of power supply. I never opened one to look inside and thought I might ask here first before grabbing my dremel with a cutting disk.

  3. I am not sure if this will make you cheer-up but here we go
  4. Some DVD/Blueray players may be able to switch to/from NTSC/PAL, try another NTSC video source other than a DVD player (a camcorder for example)
  5. Because http://www.dereatari.republika.pl/ is no more, their IP address of: 98.129.62.40 now points to https://prosite.com/
  6. Payment made... this will be good , now gotta pick the best of the bunch 1050 among my 8 drives to have the honors of receiving this goodie I am also curious to see who's gonna have the best idea/design to have the LED display integrated into the drive case.
  7. Damn, I shouldn't have sold mine for 1/100 of that price a few years ago...
  8. The voltage drop is right at the power connector (measuring directly from the connector's legs). When I turn the power switch OFF, the voltage goes back to 5v. EDIT: I just did a little experiment. I loaded the power supply with a 100 ohm resistor and measured the voltage across the resistor. It was and remained 5 volts throughout the experiment (for about a minute). That's only 50 ma of current draw, what would be the average normal current draw for a stock 600XL. I know the PS is rated for 1.5A but I don't think all that is used all the time.
  9. Did we ever have the board game GO for Atari 8 bit. For those who don't know what GO is, it is the game our beloved computer company ATARI got his name from
  10. That's what I thought too, however it seems unlikely that this particular 600XL draws more power compared to my other A8's which have more RAM and some extra built-in upgrades. For example my other 600XL has an U1MB and the 64K Ram upgrade which should be drawing more power compared to the stock one. Weird!.
  11. I have this one power supply (C061982) which seems to work just fine with all my different A8 computers, some of which have internal upgrades (4 x 130XE, 1 x 65XE, 2 x 800XL, and 1 x 600XL), however it fails to power one particular stock 600XL. What happens is, when I turn the computer ON the power LED on the 600XL is very dim and the computer displays nothing (not even a blank screen). The voltage at the power switch drops to 1.6v when I turn the computer ON, when the computer is OFF the voltage is 5v as expected. Strange thing is this same 600XL works fine with all other power supplies I have (all being C061982s). So I am wondering if it is the PS or the computer at fault and the possible reason for this.
  12. Why are you hostile to people.. That's something I noticed on your posts lately.... If he doesn't respond the way you expected, just let it go..
  13. No kidding eh!... I always thought only a woman can make a man spend that kind of money, obviously I was either dead wrong, or I wonder if even a picture of a woman with big t.ts is enough for some
  14. You really meant "$1680 (5760), which multiplied by $10 (16) gives you the size of a regular 720 sector SD disk ($16800 / 92160 bytes)"
  15. IZArc didn't have any trouble with the SDX Toolkit .arc file, and I keep using it to unarc the utilities. That's the only time I use it anyway, for my other archive needs I've been a Winrar user for a long time.
  16. Wow, somebody actually bought that for 20,000 Euros, I wonder if the blonde in the demo did the trick lol.....
  17. Hi Roy, I didn't quite get the question. Do you mean a new feature in AspeQt to disable the screen saver, and/or prevent the computer from going into sleep state? A USB port can still supply 5v to the device even during sleep but the emulation software won't be active, so what will be the benefit of keeping the USB port open? What do you exactly want to happen, could you please elaborate. Here's a discussion on Sleep Mode in Windows.
  18. Pics and video links are OK, we do it all the time. As for the ATR format inconsistencies, I agree with you. As a developer I personally take the original (NIck Kennedy's) version as the standard format. I don't know what Steve's additions used for exactly. I don't even know why it is important to sign and seal an ATR file. It's not like there are tons of hackers trying to inject malware into our ATRs and I fail to see why exactly authentication is required. I believe the space used for signing and sealing and the CRC could be used for something more useful.
  19. Sorry I think there is a misunderstanding, my comment was actually to myself because I responded to an 6 year old post. There is nothing wrong with yours, it was mine that didn't make sense 8 years later because I said to him: "You forgot AspeQt as one of the software that handles ATRs". Obviously 6 years ago there was no AspeQt and the majority of 8 bit users today already know about it. That's why when I realized that the message was quite old, I deleted my response and said "I need to sleep more".... Hope that clears the issue.
  20. Well, for people who'd rather not spend time fiddling around with large arc files on an Atari, there's IZArc for PC. Makes the whole task of unarcing the toolkit a breeze, then you can move files/utilities of interest to an ATR file or a PC Folder you can mount to either to AspeQt or another SIO/PBI device for use with your Atari. I am one of those people who prefer to get the toolkit archive in ZIP or RAR format, but we atarians like to torture ourselves more than anybody else, so it's unlikely that we will have that any time soon
  21. Holly crap, replying to a 6 years old question at the beginning of the thread, must start sleeping more than I normally do, lol.......
