  1. Hi Mathy, I contacted hardwaredoc, but no reply yet, so I am not sure if I will ever be able to try it out. I am not (and never was) big with games either, the only one I still play is Millipede and I use a trackball with that. Ray
  2. I am wondering if dropping the 2' USB cable from the offering and lowering the price by a dollar or two for the basic unit, and offering another option with 6' USB cable for a few dollars more is a better idea. A 2' USB cable seems only good for people who will keep their Atari near their laptop, others may want a longer cable What do you guys think?
  3. Will be ready by mid to late March, Chinese suppliers are currently taking time-off from business due to Chinese new year, and that affects delivery times for the PCBs
  4. US dollar seems to have slowed down as of late, so looks hopeful.. Canadian dollar took a heavy beating too!.
  5. This one (SIO2PC-USB v1.0) will be compatible with APE only - no 10502PC functionality - , my other device (SIO2PC/10502PC Dual-USB v3.1) is compatible with both APE and Prosystem (APE needs to use VCP drivers to work with either version of the device)
  6. Thanks for the great detail, so my guess about chinese deliveries being late was wrong and there's more to the story. As for ITEAD, I've never got them to do my assemblies (I do it myself), just the PCBs, that's probably why I've never had any issues with the boards. I was in fact considering to get the assemblies done by them but never looked into the details of the procedure.
  7. Atari XEGS x 1 Atari 130XE x 4 Atari 65XE x1 Atari 1200XL x1 Atari 800XL x 2 Atari 600XL x 2 Atari 800 x 1 All fully working, plus 8 x 1050 drives but I guess those won't count.
  8. Yeah, that's what I use with Millipede too, helped me to get my score up to 287,877 so far.
  9. China deliveries are unpredictable at best. I for one, have found a very reliable supplier, for at least the PCBs. ITead Studios do a very fine job of fabricating and delivering on time at a very good price, just wanted to share the info.
  10. Hi Mathy, how would Ballblazer work in gyroscope mode?
  11. How about Millipede, that's my favorite game and I am trying to improve my score these days (just reached 287877 yesterday), would Nun-Joy work well with this game?
  12. My new SIO2PC-USB v1.0 is now ready for production. This is a SIO2PC only version of my DUAL-USB device and as such does not include 10502PC functionality, but comes at a reduced price of $29 US, or about 25 Euros. For this price you get: * The SIO2PC-USB version 1.0 PCB, featuring an FTDI FT231X UART, (up to 127KBs speed with AspeQt and Hias Hi-Speed I/O patch), * Enclosed in an SIO plug, Mini USB connector at the PC end, * USB cable (2'), * I/O Leds, * A free, registered copy of ALibPc Light (Atari Librarian for PC Light) software (currently in development but all purchasers of the device is eligible retroactively), * 1 year warranty Availability is probably by Mid March depending on how fast I can get my PCB order filled. Orders will be shipped in a first-in first-out fashion, so please express your interest here and also PM me to get into the list. This may or may not be a limited edition depending on the interest it generates. Note that the exterior appearance will not be exactly the same as above. The difference will be in LED positioning and a slight protrusion of the USB port due to new design.
  13. I've heard (or actually read) that this is good for starters and free....AutoDesk 123D Design, so which printer did you get?
  14. Really!, I do also have a 52" Sony Bravia KDL-52V4100 bought in 2008 (although I didn't pay as much for it) which is also 6 years old, hope I won't have the same problem . Sony used to be a good brand for TVs, but of course it was all CRT then, I have another SONY 32" Trinitron from the early 90's and it still goes strong with no color loss or anything.
  15. It's cool and it seems to work, but i watched other methods on Youtube as well, and so far the easiest and 100% effective fix on the first try, every time, seems to be the Soldering Gun method, that is if you have one handy at home.
  16. It's gotta be a long demo, still processing after 38 mins...
  17. Heck I was done playing bass by the time Iron Maiden was first formed (1975), I guess that tells volumes about my age LOL..... Zeppelin though (my fav psychedelic rock band) is another story (and perhaps the reason i like colorful doodles on my atari monitor )....
  18. I hear you, and I agree that it's time consuming and still relatively expensive to produce objects. I thought about making SIO plugs that way but honestly the economics and the time required to produce each plug turned me off. IMHO currently the technology (at least the affordable segment) is only good enough to be used for prototyping, sample production runs, making replacement parts and other niche applications. It's a hot new "must have" for many people though (I don't necessarly include you in this category, so please don't get offended ) and I have hard time understanding those people paying hundreds and even thousands to make a few nick nacks and possibly and quite probably get bored after a short while and let the printer gather dust in the basement or attic.
  19. After I posted above video, I had this genius idea of taking the same small woofer with a heavy magnet which created those colorful ghosts on my Atari monitor, to my vintage ViewSonic PT775 Professional Series SVGA monitor that I still use daily. The magnet is so powerful that it created several vertical black lines on the screen which looked liked dead pixels along with some colorful doodles, I was confident that all would be fixed after I pressed the monitor's degauss button... well, not quite so, after degauss not only some of the color remained but also those vertical lines didn't disappear. I said "oh no, I just killed my 18 years old monitor which worked like a charm without a single hiccup for almost two decades, and here I was screwing it up with a single stroke of a speaker magnet. I then applied the Solder Gun treatment and the colors turned back to normal while those black lines remained. As a last-ditch effort I decided to turn the monitor OFF and wait for a while which proved to be effective for returning those black lines back to life. One thing's for sure, I won't be doodling with that monitor again . I remember paying just over $1000 for it, and it was well worth the price in many ways, and want it to remain that way until it dies from natural causes...
  20. Ok thanks for the information guys, also does anyone have an ideas whether a nunchuck makes a good atari joystick? it looks cool in the video I've seen bit is there any cons and pros?
  21. So you're a bassist too eh , i used to play bass as well many moons ago but I didn't have an Atari or a monitor to experiment with my amp, perhaps that was a good thing he he....
  22. Is this joystick adapter for Wii Nunchuck still available for purchase? If not, is the design open-source and available? Thanks
  23. Actually adding a monitor port isn't a big deal either, granted it's more work than upgrading the RAM but not much harder to do. I've added an XL/XE style DIN connector with composite and s-video capability and removed the RF modulator. It is now my favorite 8 bit Atari. In fact I will be getting a backup unit just in case it needs replacement parts in the future.
  24. Never used a tape drive (and probably never will, didn't even try the tape drive emulation in AspeQt...lol) cause I wasn't a kid when I've got my first Atari so I could afford a disk drive, started right off with a 1050, then upgraded it with a US Doubler and finally got my MIO and ran an HD.
