Using the sega controllers I reached the incredible score of 50,000. I will not stop till I am in the 100,000's.

Thanks for the info twit. I hit a salvation army, two goodwills and three pawn shops yesterday and came up with a big zero. Not going to be as easy as I thought. There is a big flea market here on weekends so I am hoping to get a good find there. Wish me luck. --->Malix The king Newbie<---

Hope I am not posting too much but I am amped to have an atari again and enjoy learning all about it. I have read a bunch about the rarest and most coveted carts but what is the most common cart ever? What title was massed produced more than any other? Was it pac-man, asteroids etc.

Well I just got an atari 6 switch to add to my collection plus these games off of ebay for 40 bucks. Not to bad. Kind of takes the fun out of the collecting part of it but there are alot of games I do not have and have not played so I am looking forward to it none the less. PAC MAN, HAUNTED HOUSE, STARMASTER, LOST LUGGAGE, SWORDQUEST, FISHING DERBY, DEMON ATTACK, COCONUTS, DONKEY KONG, E.T., REVENGE OF THE BEEFSTAKE TOMATOES, BARNSTORMING, KANGAROO, BERZERK, SPACE INVADERS, ASTEROIDS, NIGHT DRIVER, SPIDER FIGHTER, KEYSTONE KAPERS, TARGET FUN, ROL'N ROPE, SHARK ATTACK, FAST FOOD, GOPHER,BLUEPRINT,OINK, COSMIC ARK, DODGE EM, AND MAZE MANIA

Thanks for linking the actual addy albert. As far as people in college playing atari when they were kids, I was born in 78 graduated college in 2001 and played an abundant amount of atari...of course I was only four or five at the time but never the less had an impact on me because 18 years later I am hooked again. I am part of the NES generation but even after getting my first NES Atari still was my favorite. I figured you guys would enjoy the article it. The author portrays exactly what is wrong with society today. We all blame our mishaps and wrong doings on other things. Whether it be music, movies or ( I really got a good laugh out of this one) atari. We need to step to the plate and take responsibility for our actions. Blaming laziness on atari is one of the most absurd things I can imagine. Beer has a much bigger effect than atari to my laziness. Of course I do tend to play atari while drinking beer so maybe there is some correlation.

Thanks guys I will be playing with my old genesis controlers as of tonight.
-
I have read that a sega genesis controller will work with a 2600 without any modifications. Since the controllers I recieve with my atari are very "sticky" and one will not go down at all is this true. If so are they good to play with or should I purchase some newer controllers??
-
Just started playing it again yesterday and my high was 30,000 something. Will have that beat by far tonight though.

I just got my atari yesterday with 20 games. As of late last night I believe pitfall took the cake and stayed in the system. Donkey kong,Volleyball and asteroids got alot of playtime however. Funny I do not remember being so terrible at pitfall when I was six. -->Malix The Newbie King<--

Wow sounds like a fun endeavor. Since I am an extreme newbie I would like to try and hit 100 by the end of the year. I have 20 as of now. And to truly show my utter newbieness what does NTSC and PAL stand for?? -->Malix The King Newbie<---

What a pleasant surprise. I thought the guy from ebay had hosed me but he was just a late sender. I received my atari 4-switch woodgrain yesterday afternoon and let me tell you. It should not be called Nintendo finger but atari finger. I played asteroids and pitfall for a good 5 hours yesterday and I can barely type without bleeding all over the keyboard. The system is as good as I remember it and I cant wait to get some more games. One thing I am sure has been answered before but what is the difficulty switch there for. I assume to change teh difficutly level but it does not seem to make a difference.

Thanks everyone for all the responses. Tempest I will check out that website. As far as ebay goes I still use it daily. The Thing is I have been reading all the posts on this site since I made my bid(1 month ago) and I am really amped to play all the games I remeber so well. I want to guarantee that I will get it and not have to wait on a bid to go through. Oh yeah I paid 50 for the 2600 and 19 games that were pretty common.

Recently purchased a 2600 and some games off of ebay but it would seem the incredibly nice seller is going to keep his property and my money!! This sucks but the money is not what I am worried about I wanted the dang atari. Does anyone know of a site that sells old systems and is trustworthy?

That is all the info I needed thanks alot!!

This is my first post and I would like to start off by saying that I think you all have a great community going here. I have recently purchased a 2600 with paddles, two working joysticks and 19 games for $40.00. The games are as follows:Realsports football, baseball, tennis and volleyball.combat, berzerk, pitfall 1& II,grand prix, vanguard, asteroids, decathalon, donkey kong,joust,q-bert,pacman,mspacman,gorf, and video olympics. My question is three fold. Is this a good haul? What was yalls first haul? When the rarity guide speaks of red or silver labels do they mean on the box or on the cart. Thx
