adventure si: MAN that's what i'm TALKING ABOUT! god amazing how that makes a low res clunker look SO much better. proper gradient choices for the different areas could REALLY make the game look like something special. I know you aren't going to change the hack anymore, but let me just say, that's a shame :-) aint that a shame, my tears fell like rain -
Which games should they NEVER have tried to do on the 2600?
Godzilla replied to Room 34's topic in Atari 2600
another one i felt was stretching it, and never enjoyed, was dark chambers. weak weak. nice effort, but it just plain old pales next to 7800 dark chambers much less even ol apple 2/a8bit/c64 gauntlet, etc. just frustrating, and ugly. -
so something around 520 kewl. i shall have them all :-) (jk)

LOL fudgepacman (from thread he posted,) buy this have gone off the deep end I want bloody math :-)

i love journey escape, and i used to really enjoy seeing how many points i could score, and how many days straight i could play the same game with out losing. cause i loved living the game on and hearing the amazing music coming from my 2600 :-)

i still think u should just mod montezumas revenge or miner 2049er or something

yea it wasnt TERRIBLE. and how about tigers espial? seems the 2600 cant really pull off a reliable vert scrolling shooter. thats got to be the flickeriest game ive ever seen -
error, i didnt mean trick shot, i mean imagics awesome carnival shooting game which for some reason i cant remember the name of (shooting gallery?)
-
I can remember think the graphics in this screenshot were just incredible: http://www.atariage.com/catalogs/Spectravi...ion_Vol2_10.jpg

i used to carry them in my book bag to school with me, and drool over lord of the rings, or that world war II imagic game that never came out, or 2600 hulk (look at that city in the background and the multple levels of 3d display!) I also really loved the spectravideo catalog, and it's weird games that I havd never seen. and I particularly drooled over this one: http://www.atariage.com/catalogs/Spectravi...sion_Vol2_9.jpg game just looked fun.

that space harrier pic is hilarious. and wouldn't montezumas revenge make an excellent hack candidate for making a 2600 dk/dk jr with all the boards?
-
i love 2600 kung fu master, but im no where near good enough to get into the double digits on floors. thats very impressive. i had no idea the 2600 version was endless. i thought for sure it would end like the other versions.

I would like to know how many pre-homebrew era unique game titles there were for the 2600. (pir8s/slight modifications not counted, region variants not counted, label variations not counted, etc.)

any more thoughts on the actual topic? I thought qberts cubes pretty rough, especially after playing the coleco version. And Quest for Quintana Roo, whats up with that game? I dont know why it was made. frustrating and annoying. and buggs and sssanke never should have been made, thats for sure. and most of the pap that froggo and panda shoveled out i could live without But, really, what was atari thinking, making a text space non-action game??? (Stellar track.) -
yea communist mutants kicked ass. I loved threshold and spider fighter too. and encounter at l-5 and warplock (these two are a lot better than they credit for, imho, especially the one that uses the paddles.). and megamania. and phoenix. and demon attack and allia quest and worm whomper and beam rider and moonsweeper (mmm moon sweeper) and tac scan and deadly duck and demons to diamonds and death trap and trick shot and no escape and solar storm and space cavern. (stinkers left out, galaxian, gorf, condor attack, glacier patrol, carnival,) (havent played guardian or out of control enough to comment) my fave would probably be warplock.

ungh congo bongo is way weak. I'm with ne1, I loved zaxxon on the 2600, but not as zaxxon. Double dragon to me never should have been attempted, nor rampage. As much as I respect what activision accomplished technically with these conversions, they should never have been done. Up N Down was another valiat attempt, but ungh. And as much as I love 2600 tut, its another zaxxon instance. It's good as it's own game, but as a conversion of the arcade game? as good as the 2600 is at space invaders type games i've never been happy with gorf, and omega race was a huge dissapointment to me. it just didnt capture the play. and how about http://www.atariage.com/2600/screenshots/s..._RocNRope_5.png man that should have never been attempted imho (even tho its another zaxxon/tut,) -
re: am I going mad? I dont know, but as for myself, I cannot go somewhere I already am! and yes, Imagic's Dragon Fire is real, and it was fruitful and multiplied, for lo it is available on MANY a platform, like the vic 20, intellivision, colecovision, atari 2600 etc.

we shall see, but at least it's nice to hear SOMETHING :-) just hope it's not another of a long list of eternal delaying tactics. And if he is having troube with people locking up his stuff, I wish Jah the best in getting his goodies back. -
