  1. lol at that last comment. I usually whip out with the solaris, pitfall 2, or depending on what games they like, any of ataris later arcade coversions. (stargate, millipede, etc.) Tapper is a good one too, and Quadrun also.
  2. YES! Converts!! :-) I have always been bothered by the offensive previous name, which I will no longer even glorify with a mention. and OF COURSE the big sexy is a female! It's run by stella, you plug into it's slots, and you please it with your joysticks. I mean, c'mon! :-)
  3. well if no one is nice enough to dump the ntsc ewok rom, i hope thomas can ntsc the pal one :-) (hint hint)
  4. even if unfinished, I still think it should be released. I really like the 'programming' style games, like ogre and the afomentined chipwits. I think it would be really interesting to see something like that on the old faitful 2600. I myself enjoy seeing, and when possible, owning glimpses of what might have been, and even what should not have been. :-) We are all video game archaelogists.
  5. The original, curvier, thicker 2600. it IS the 'Big Sexy!'
  6. First I have to get my drool/hero worship out: Rob Fulop is my favorite 2600 programmer, I love all his games. Though his least favorite game (fathom,) is my favorite, with Cosmic Ark a close second. If rob, in his ineffable wisdom, ever decided to do another release of cubicolor, I would be ever so greatful to have a chance to own and play this game without having to get a home equity loan. I have to vote for the cool special edition (two notches from me for a reservation, one for me and one for my computerless friend who i collect for,) followed by the normal edition/rom release. Anything else leaves lots of unhappy people without cubicolors, for example, who wish they could have all of robs fine 2600 carts, but instead just pine endlessly with broken hearts. KDK
  7. There were several games in the 'bounce a ball in pseudo 3d over a map of tiles' games. Many for the amiga, and c64, and even the cdi (zenith,) cdi zenith is the best game in the 'genre' i've ever played, it even has some rudimentary 3d scrolling as your ball bounces over areas of different heights. i *THINK* there were one or two for the genesis or snes, perhaps only in Japan.

    Coming soon

http://www.atariage.com/hack_page.html?Sys...oftwareHackID=1 is that it? I have to say that 2600 galaxian is one of the few 2600 arcade ports (like donkey kong,) that I thought had really bad gameplay compared to the arcade. Just doesn't capture it. At least it looks a damn sight better than donkey kong. :-) I'd love to see someone take a good 2600 platform game (like pitfall 2 or montezuma, for example,) and hack them into a GOOD 2600 donkey kong, or jr.
  9. great idea inky. 2600 stargate is truly amazing. How many 2600 games actually feature every stage of their original arcade counterparts? Much less a game like stargate that has like, what 99 stages or something. I'll never forget how blown away I was by the starting sound in 2600 stargate. Just awesome. And then the graphics, at the time, I felt like I was playing the arcade game :-) It's still my favorite playing version of the defender/stargate type games. A nice dual joystick setup works well with this game. Also, if you have a joystick like the Sansei arcade controller that has all the directions replicated as buttons, it makes for a great second stick in stargate so you have all the buttons to press. I was so happy they left in all the features too! Stargate kicks major booty! :-)
  10. the 2600 version of bump n jump, while certainley not a looker, is my favorite playing version. the whole game just feels juiced and the gameplay feels very well tuned. i can remember playing it for many long hours. and there are seceret paths on the sides that can help you get the big bonus (or was that the inty vers?) i played the inty version a bunch until i got the 2600 vers. then i never played the inty vers. again :-)
  11. i'm 2600 easy :-) I like 3d ttt. fun little game. i never had problem with the 3d-ness of it, in fact that's what i enjoyed about it, all the possiblities the layers create. not a great game, but a mildly good one. i still stand by laser blast tho, that is a fun game that i still really like.
  12. Damn straight she has to! Overcoming negative stereotypes about big sexy curves is very important in american culture, and the Big Sexy 2600 is here to help! Z
  13. really fun challenging and pretty game, oh wait, its imagic, duh :-) Imagic is my favorite 2600 developer. Not a single bad game. And they pulled the same feat on the Intellivision.
  14. Thanks stinky! At least there are some real men (or women,) on these forums :-)
  15. fathom is one of my all time 2600 favorites, in my top 5 for sure, and my favorite imagic game. I had my own hand made maps back in the day. It was the only way i was able to beat the game. The later levels are quite large! Such awesome animation, huge game world, color, and effects (like the water refraction effect, the splashes, etc.) That game always made me feel like the 2600 could do anything... :-) Z
  16. Just a plug of support for hero. a great awesome game. and the 2600 version is by far the best playing version, in my opinion. I love it's uber original play mechanics and massive levels. Definately a 2600 game that goes the distance.
  17. well? you little boys are just afraid of big sexy curves. Z
  18. in a realted note, who has completed fathom? I beat the game and got the text message long after it was too late for me to win a free t-shirt :-( who else is in the 'beat fathom' club?
  19. those that have mastered torturing themeselves with a crappy game :-) hey good job on beating it, thats impressive.
  20. my original 6 switch from the 70s still lives, though its on/off switch and it's power connector are very flaky, because i used both of them thousands upon thousands of times to fry games. at the time I thought it was a discovery I had made :-)
  21. why, god, why? why hast though brought the sexyness of the beautiful curvy 2600 to such lows as this! It's just not right! What's wrong with something being sexy, or big? and why does that disturb you, hmmm?
  22. i've been playing assloads of atari 8 bit games on my dreamcast, mixed in with a bit of outtrigger and test drive le mans 24 hour. on the a8 bit ive playing a ton of: rescue on fractalus eidolon dreadnaught factor ninja international karate alpha shield (aka 2600 space master x-7) jumpman mail order monsters crush crumble and chomp lots of others :-)
