  1. the guy working on my cocktail doesn't want to use anything less than an 'arcade monitor' (Because he gets the 'museum piece' nature I'm going for,) I do want it to be as authentic as possible. He said the C= monitors have 75ohms color impedance and the arcades are 1k+ (I don't know what any of that means,) so I'm trying to find out if there were any vintage era monitors that might be usable, since I have so many...

  2. New logo up on the updates of the kickstarter page and on the facebook page. Thoughts from the peanut gallery? I am being interviewed about the museum for a local public radio segment sunday. If i get a link, I'll post it. I havr to say, what surprises me most isthat the nintendo-era+ people get this idea instantly, and are my current backers/board etc. The pre-crash collectors like me seem to either not care or think i'm crazy. My initial impression was that I would be 'preaching to the choir' amongst my fellow atarians, but it seems i have to convert the choir? LOL :)

Some places to find versions and a tutorial.

Yet another long lost 2600 game I'd love to see :) This sounds right it's right up there with mission omega as a game I'd love to try! I love Robs' games.

  4. Anyone in the Jacksonville area or nearby who might want some beer and benjamins

to help me with my centipede upright cabinet and my phoenix cocktail cabinet (and possibly a pleadies cabinet, but not as high priority,) (descriptions at the bottom.)

Thanks in advance, for reading this and your time. smiley.gif

"number six" directed me to the villagebbs where I have posted and got some good general tips but no other replies.

I am working to start an interactive arts museum, in Jacksonville, Florida. To me, arcade games are a large part of that.

I will be displaying at the one spark event in jacksonville, florida, downtown. To promote the museum and gather funding.

The venue I am displaying at is 'The Phoenix Taproom,' and I would really love to have the phoenix cocktail working as part

    of the display there.

    Descriptions:

The phoenix cocktail is my top priority, and I have not really had any time to examine it. IIRC all I had time to do was plug it in and see that I got no response.

Pleiades works but the monitor fades/goes out.

    centipede details :

I picked up the centipede recently from a local thrift, I couldn't pass up the condition it was.

There is a tag inside it that says 'led out 6t' hope thats not a bad omen. This cab is in great shape for 30+ years old really clean inside too...

Found a switch on the back that says 'cherry' on it that was taped in perma-on, but the tape came off. I re-taped the switch...

Initially the marque and one coin slot lit up!

Then I did my standard round of cleaning, cleaned mb edge connectors, checked all the couplings, visually checked all the fuses. Now not even the marque lights come one! gah! (So that is what I've had time for, so far.)

(This text was copied from here, it has some pictures, too. http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/204734-my-new-baby%3B-an-arcade-stand-up-centipede/

  5. Indeed. I want their to be a place for the jersey of the guy from twin galaxies. I want there to be a place to play 'tennis for two' and 'galaxy wars' and the old e.m.s. A place where you can use a working replica of ancient greco-roman coin-operated amusements. Where you can read and research with a vast library of video and non electronic books and magazines. Play contests, give consoles to the needy. I'd love to get games into the library system or at least have one on site. I want a place where stories like rob fulops desire to make dave crane cry with a starfield get the attention they deserve. :) a place that honors all the artists keeping the dead alive... And so much more.

  6. Agreed on the 'how many times do I want to pay to see a toaster nes" aspect (Though I believe The I.M.A.G.I.C. mitigates that.) I believe our perspective as people 'in the woods' of video game collecting may be a little skewing. To kids today, their perspective may be very different. Also, the angle of this museum being an interactive museum with a much broader focus than just the past 50 or so years, I feel, is very distinctive. We have board members with focuses on CCG, pen and paper RPG and many other elements. I envision a place where one can come, sit down, and play some senet, or one of the first ancient Chinese card games, or magic the gathering, or a modern console game, or a 2600 game, or braunstein (etc.) with 'public ready' installations that encourage interaction. I envision the ability to walk through the history of the artistry of human made interactivity, from our earliest recorded and known instances up until today (Which is thousands of years.)

  7. read above for my take on the mindscape turd. The 'ergo' stick stuck to my hand and was uncomfortable (not very ergo.) Though, also, I've never been a fan of the claw grip and lock claw I get after using any of the 500xjish controllers.
