  1. I've tried it on an emulator, and while it is by no means a bad game, it isn't worth it to me. With $300, you can buy an Atari 8 bit computer with boat loads of games including BB and other stuff or just get a multicart for the 5200 for much less.

except that you can't get the BBSB on a rom for the multi-cart. Makes it all the more valuable. I have one. Ain't happenin'. I hope I can be proved wrong, as I have a slot open on my multi-cart with open arms. I think the memory exceeeds the capacity or something like that.....I don't know, but I do know that it isn't happening on the multi-cart so back to the value....

  2. Very glad we picked it too, to be honest, it gets very little play otherwise.

Thats the best thing about the HSC for me - it makes me take out games I might otherwise be neglecting.

My new high score is 31,000

You guys are putting up some great scores! :)

I'm glad we're playing this game, i wanted to see how good i am at it.

I hear that, loud and clear. Definitely haven't put this one in the machine for a long while until the high score challenge came up. I'll try to post something, Christ......but this game has frustrated me with all aspects of control, I won't comment about the gun non-option, so here goes nothing, again. I'll never touch 63000+ like the top guy, holy cows.........

And I second his statement - the best thing about the HSC is that it makes you take out games that you probably wouldn't play otherwise, and makes you enjoy it because there is competition. Kudos to Darthkur for making these happen!

  3. I love the guy that went through every game. He was pretty much right on. I'll give you my 5 most hated, but since this is my favorite system - I still agree with Mitch, et al, re: that 88-92% of the games suck. That's just fodder for angst on this forum. You probably know that by now. Anyhoo:

    1. Well - no. There's no #1 just yet. Let's clear the air, and just go with the popular vote by saying that all of the flight sims on the 7800 - the 3 of them - aren't worth discussing. No one gives a rat's ass about ace of aces, etc....so the top 5 suck games after we leave those flight sims out, are:

1 again. Mat Mania Challenge: Mat mania being one of my favorite arcade games, turned into the translation of complete garbage in the 7800 format. Guys don't stay down after major damage being laid on them, impossible to do most of the moves on the games due to the overly easy reversal aspect, and basically most matches ending up in pointless slugfests....

Not to mention that there is no goal - you can win and win and just continue to face the same guy over and over again (that looks exactly like you with blue trunks) and it doesn't stop. Stupid. I WANT A GOOD WRESTLING GAME FOR THE 7800!!! I'VE SAID IT SEVERAL TIMES ON THIS FORUM!!!

    2. Fight Night: The good graphics, the nice title screen, I thought at first we were looking at a promising fun fighting game. So, the enemies looked good, but you can't fight as them. And, they all have a "power or special punch" and you do not. So you beat them with lame patterns of repeated body blows and switching to the head. Boring. And you can't barely defend against their big power punch. This game could have potentially been much, much better, and it didn't happen. It's too bad.

    3. Jinks: Graphics are good, the gameplay could be good but ends up sucking, and the game never goes anywhere. Awful. It's too bad, it seems fun for the first 28 seconds, then you finally realize that "this is it?". and yes it is. Fuck this game, it's a frustrating and useless waste of time.

    4. Title Match Pro Wrestling: Way to incorporate the 2600 game engine into this 7800 platform in this travesty of what could of been a good game. Why didn't they follow the Nintendo "Pro Wrestling" engine/style and have guys have lock ups and moves, etc....the gameplay is simply awful and should be shot. I WANT A GOOD WRESTLING GAME FOR THE 7800!!! I'VE SAID IT SEVERAL TIMES ON THIS FORUM!!!

    5. Crack'ed: No Gun, no glory. Graphics are decent, but the gameplay is not playable. Too bad, with another name and a gun option, this game would have been fun.

    Honorable mentions:

    Combat 1990 - joke of a remake....especially for the 7800

Real Sports Baseball - can't believe they even tauted this one as realistic

Meltdown - yeah, I'll play it, but what the fuck. What's the deal here....

Kung Fu Master - love the arcade and most other versions....why don't the guys fall instead of just dissapearing when you hit them? And how come no stairs at the end of each round?

Winter Games - could use some love on the cross country shit.....

    so there you have it

  4. The character graphics could use some improving - I thought they did a good job with the looks of Abobo and similar characters, but the bad guys look just like your character - and then there's the moves. You can't do the knee lifts, and you can't throw the guy - one of my favorite things to do in the arcade version. This is my same complaint with Mat Mania Challenge - besides the overall horrible game play on that one. And as said before - you can't throw barrels - one of the most fun aspects of the arcade version. The moving conveyor belt, the stabbing of the statues in the semi-final stage, etc.....I hate to compare to the nintendo version, but they were able to include most of those aspects in that one. But I don't play Nintendo.

  5. 125,050

attached is a pic of my score that I was able to act quick with the iphone camera with - which is 118,920 - but I kept playing and it got quick at the end and I went for the camera, again, as we've discussed before, and couldn't unlock the phone in time, etc.....but I made sure I remembered my final score, which was 125,050. And I'm going to bed.

  6. What Al says is true, I own both of those games, and they are shiny, glossy, and very nice indeed. Not to mention that the games are some of the best for the 7800, ever. Al, thanks for the PM, I will follow up soon, need to find out what my nephew would be psyched to have....thanks

  7. Hello Al. My apologies for this post. Just thought it being Xmas-time and all, it's sad to still see the store not up, I was really hoping to browse and surprise a couple people with some cool, homebrew, or whatever items for the holiday. I'm aware of goodealgames, etc ...... It's also about supporting this site and all of you working on it, and showing that there is still interest, and showing thanks, to you and the folks that run this site, all of the developers (especially 7800) and the other consumers/customers so that we can show that we give a shit. Many thanks to all y'all!!! Hope it gets back up soon, and looking forward to

the 7800 and all Atari systems to become more popular than they ever were when they were released, due to the solid support of it's loyal fanbase. I'm not a video game programmer, and when I see you folks talking about the technical side of things - it just blows my mind how much effort and community collaboration goes into each and every new project that is put out. Really impressive to say the least, and lot of fun for us players. Thanks again, with the point being I'd like to be able to show support for all this in some way, and I figured the most obvious way would be to buy stuff.

    Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

  8. 880. My paddle controller decided not to work for me in the multicart, which is great because I really like to use that for Castle Crisis. Now I'm screwed there again. How do these things just break without any incident? Haven't even touched it in months, just sitting on a shelf. Amazing. Damn thing was hard to find. Anyway, this is with the classic 5200 joystick, I have no idea if this is good or bad. Probably bad.

  9. As you've been reading, screen goes immediately to continue screen, then you choose "NO", and it immediately goes back to the title screen. This is on the actual cartridge in the 7800. I got a 91,350. I had my camera ready and it went away. If I do better, do I choose continue - and take the pic from that screen before your new game gets going? Bullshit, I have really played this game a bunch and love it and wanted a screen shot. As I type the screen is still on the title page 7 minutes later after my game. Guess its not going back. Glad I remembered what I had, since I had this problem with Joust. When you lose your last tile or whatever on this one, you better know it's coming and pause it or there is no way anyone is getting a screen shot unless they have someone waiting to shoot it at the exact moment, which is silly to even fathom.

  10. 109,000. I bent down to hit the pause button to save the screen, it went back to the title screen, and I moved the joystick on accident while putting it back on the table, and it won't change screens back so I can take a picture. Hopefully I can beat this score and act fast with the pause button, and get a pic next time. Sorry about that.

  11. I can't get enough of the arcade ports. Everything Bob does is well thought out, has incredible gameplay, and he picks great games to port as well. He's got the midas touch. Love the arcade ports. Love all the development going on in this system, and now MORE DEVELOPERS! It's awesome!

  12. Holy shit Propane, another rocker on your hands here. I love how you can use the other button to speed it up - thus eliminating the need for paddle support, I would think. But playing it on the emulator, it works great, so when it comes out on cart it will be that much greater using it with the real hardware. Of course there will be those who prefer paddle control on this game, but what you did to it really solves the issue. I'd rather see more go into the gameplay and graphics, as I'm sure you are limited on space as it is with the system's capabilities - therefore forego the paddle option. Either would be great, and thanks again so much, looking forward to the release of another great work.
