Great video, Curt. Many thanks. All of the people who are denying the project are fools. It's obviously something beyond anyone's imagination to put together this kind of effort, from just a few hard working folks. It's amazing how people are so petty to harp on Curt and company, having no idea what kind of production this actually is. Ever work with plastic molds? Ever program microchips? Ever have to finagle finances with plastic companies with no financial backing? It will take time. We are so incredibly lucky here at AA to have someone bringing us new technology to an outdated system with such a small following.
Thanks Curt, and thanks for the updates. I bet you will get some new orders just from showing that progress video.

Thank you for the update, Ax. Nonner, you don't have to take my place, just get on the list yourself. It's not full. But thanks for the crack at me.
-
What else are you selling online, Ax? Please, enlighten me. I'd love to contribute to anything else if I can, given that it supports your family and maybe would help expedite the process of the "25th Anniversary of the 7800" project. You do COD for items that are actually completed?
-
It's going on 2 full years since I placed my order. I've had dialogue with Ax a few times, and mentioned it to Al. I've unfortunately lost faith that this project is ever going to come to fruition, feel free to comment as you see fit. Ax had some horrible life changing disasters hit him, which delayed this project considerably. But two years later, and watching him make other purchases on this site, I feel that this thing has been put on the back burner with no finish date in sight. It would have been nice to have this controller arriving in time to utilize the XM release.

Don't remember this arcade game. Maybe I do, not at the moment. Doesn't matter, I know if Bob makes it, I'm buying it. Thanks Bob - god damn you are pumping these babies out - this is great stuff. Please let me know when and if it will be available and thanks again.

Thank you Curt. You've breathed new life in this forum, this society, and this technology. All of us here can't thank you enough for what you've done, and the appreciation is sky high! Thank you Bob, thank you Groovy Bee Mark, thanks to all who put in their time and effort on the XM and any homebrew project for the 7800 and other Atari systems. Curt, you are the man and deserve the highest regard possible, and nothing else. Please stay and continue on when you are able to, we really do love you and your work. It's really nice to see you post anything whatsoever. That goes for Bob and Mark as well - and all programmers here.
All the best to Curt and the people actually making things happen at AtariAge, kudos to all of you. If I ever see y'all, beers on me.

Awesome! Very sorry to hear about your loved ones' health issues. Reality and life come first. Wish them the best and give them and Bob the strength to power through these difficult physical issues.
Cheers to everyone on this thread for the outpouring of support, and cheers to all involved with the huge undertaking of the XM project, you know you are putting out an exciting piece of hardware when it produces this much drama! Kudos to all of you for staying strong despite criticism and flames, as it shows your determination and willingness to do great things for a hobby and a system we all love.
Here's to the good times coming at us, and many thanks again!
Welcome back the one and only PacManPlus!

Bob rules! Please come back! That taco neck Sergio Valente is history!

Great to hear. Looking forward to tomorrow's report. Thanks for posting this, especially exciting to hear about the PSX > 7800 controller, hope that makes it into production soon - if there is one thing the 7800 could use, it's a solid controller like that.

Well, let's make it not sad and focus on the positive aspects of the great things going on by the majority of the people involved with Atari Age. This is a forum, and opinions are welcome. I think we can turn this around, get Bob back and active again, and try to encourage the good vibe from people, and let the haters and naysayers go unresponded to. We all need to keep our heads above the rest, and think about the mature human beings that we are, and to not let ourselves tear someone else down or spread a negative and undeserved vibe. I believe Bob will come back, and so will the others that have supported him in the past, as well as the people who have supported and continue to support this scene. Let's lift the elephant in the room, kick it's ass out of here, and get ready for a whole new system with great attributes to look forward to. Stay positive, folks, this is only a small forum, let's make it a great one!

Bob is the man. All of the hard work he has done for zero profit over the years and now this? He gave us Pac-Man Collection, Space Invaders, FailSafe, other arcade conversions and homebrews that literally keep this scene alive. He just shipped out Meteor Shower, and has lots of other games in the works. Not to mention being one of the few developers that is working on XM exclusive games. We should set up a paypal donation thread to him, not shit on him. Bob, I have your back, and everyone else here other than the guy with the classic car collection does too. Bob, please don't leave, and please let us know what we can do to help out at all, I couldn't tell you how much you are appreciated and looked up to, and everyone else on AA can back that statement up as well. You are a genius and I have had nothing but kindness and professionalism from you since I joined AA. Again, you are the man and no one - NO ONE - can dispute that claim.

Yeah, pilsner hit the nail on the head, Christ, I should just copy and paste what be said. And yes, the xm module was ordered on 9/21, and yes this order from BE is more recent. But it may be past 90 days, I think it is. I tour for a living.....maybe I get the screwjob on this one, or maybe I get a buddy to solder according to spec. Haven't seen that yet though, from Brad from Best Electronics.
-
I recently purchased a new 7800 with a composite video mod on it from Best Electronics. Works great, looks great, new unit, etc.....except that whatever they did, it doesn't play the audio on games with Pokey audio. Ballblazer, Commando, Original Beef Drop.....
I called them, spoke with Brad, as I thought I was having cabling issues or something else, then realized that all of the other games work fine. Brad said when I send him an email, he will send back the specs on how to re-solder the chip correctly inside the console in order to make the Pokey work. I don't know how to solder, and he said he's backed up for months if I shipped it out to them, at another additional expense.
My question is - since the XM Expansion Module is coming - ordered mine on 9/21 - and it has the Pokey chip built in - will this solve the problem when connected to the 7800 - in other words so I don't have to open my console and mess with the inside of it - I asked Brad this and he didn't know the answer seeing as this new product hasn't come out yet. So, when I connect the XM to the 7800 - will my Pokey sound come back even though it's not working on the original unit? I am hoping so, really don't want to mess with the wiring.
Thanks, if anyone can shed some light on this - it would be great - I assume probably only Curt would know, maybe I should just PM him - wondering if this also happened to anyone else though.

Enough with the Food Fight already. I know it's a great game, one of the better ones for the system, but for those of us in the HSC, it's been voted in almost every time it is an option to. We need to keep more variety, and also support the homebrew artists as well. I think it would spur a little more interest for people to buy games like Failsafe, or whatever, if there is some online competition for it. Every sale counts for those who make the homebrews. How is the decision process with these polls made up, anyway? Do you just pick a random 6 games, or is it a computerized lottery, or what? With such a small library of games, it would be nice to see some of the rarer selections make it into the high score club. Otherwise it's always Centipede and Food Fight. It was nice to see Ninja Golf up there a few months back, that was a fun competition.
-
Actually I believe this game was passed onto somebody else to be finished

Would that someone be another 7800 forum regular who also already has about 7-8 other as yet unfinished projects sitting on deck?

No and the person Laird is referring to is another 7800 homebrew game programmer that at least had 7 7800 homebrew games found in Atariage store before it went offline.
I remembered Gorf mentioning that programmer for doing some of his homebrew 7800 games for him.

Awesome. PMP is my favorite programmer, and I'm all about the old arcade ports to the 7800. He will crush this game. I'm very glad.

Sorry Bob, I was out of the loop for a few weeks - any chance I can get an XM cart of this? I've paid for the system, etc.....I'm totally in and will pay immediately. I'll pay for any cart you do immediately, as I have in the past. Let me know and thanks.

Screw the HSC. Anyone can just write it down if you want to keep the high score, take a screenshot. Make the game better instead.
