And in the SD version family there is 3 variants : Rev C (the first one), the Rev F (3"1/2 form factor) and the Slim. -

For the Gotek HxC... : http://hxc2001.com/store http://hxc2001.com/download/floppy_drive_emulator/HXCFEUSB_HFE_beta_firmware.zip http://hxc2001.com/download/floppy_drive_emulator/USB_HFE_hxc_floppy_emulator_firmware_release_notes.txt -

This is probably not an HxC gotek... anyway all can be configured with the internal menu with or without lcd/oled screen. -

This is "Lotharek". And i don't understand why you "wouldn't be able to take advantage of real floppies if I went Lotharek" ? What do you mean ? -

@Sinphaltimus : Direct use of DSK may generate more problems than it seems to solve : - This "format" is ambigus and is prone to loading error due to possible bad disk layout identification. - It can be formatted only with some restrictions (you must keep the same original disk format...) - It doesn't store any copy protection information. - It doesn't store any data integrity element (no crc!) -> Can be corrupted "silently" (something wrong happen during a write, but the bad crc is not stored into the image..). No dsk/raw/img images are not so wonderful and all images should be in HFE now . Anyway you have now the choice, but be aware about these possibles problems. -

By design, V9T9/DSK files don't support copy protection (these files contains only sector data). HFE or even better, HFEv3 file format can store copy protections since all the full track is stored (data + clock !). the HFEv3 can also store bitrate change information. -

But the feature is already finalized ! Just waiting the community I have tested the feature with a Kryoflux. But in worst case i can get an TI99/4A and all the needed stuff this weekend if no one is interested to test it on the real machine. Here is the stuff to test : http://hxc2001.com/download/floppy_drive_emulator/HXCFEUSB_HFE_beta_firmware.zip http://hxc2001.com/download/floppy_drive_emulator/USB_HFE_hxc_floppy_emulator_firmware_release_notes.txt I have just to secure it a little bit before releasing it. -

No and No ! There is anyway now an HxC bootloader installer from the usb stick (no cable needed!), but i reserve this for specials cases for the moment -

ok let me know for these dsk. i already have a fix for the clash format detection, will test it on the real hardware in some hours and release it. -

Sure. This is already supported by the HxC Firmware. -

File size matching with the the classic 40*18*2*256 DD/MFM format. This is not the right format ? What mean "1140" in the file name ? Anyway will add the descriptor for this one. File sizes clashing with double sided images sizes... will add something to try to detect the number of sides for these one, but i don't plan to support the number of side change (real time change between the 80*1 and 40*2 formats) No particular reason to have issues with these DSKs, so i want understand what is the problem here... Which error did you get exactly ? Have you tried to convert them to HFE and run them ? Have you at least successfully run some others programs from others DSK ? (if yes, with the same file image size or different ?) -

Jeff_HxC2001 replied to Sinphaltimus's topic in TI-99/4A Development
No need to set the interface mode. when you select the system, the right interface mode is used too. Try the most important thing first : normal read & write to the dsk/v9t9. BTW format an dsk/raw file seems odd to me since the format used is related to the file image size. Unless you are 100% sure that image format match with the disk layout used during the disk format, this may fail. HFE images are better for this since this file image store the whole track with all details sent by the machine during format process. -

Not so sure, but anyway, here is a new firmware for the TI99/4A with direct TI V9T9/DSK images support: http://hxc2001.com/download/floppy_drive_emulator/HXCFEUSB_HFE_beta_firmware.zip http://hxc2001.com/download/floppy_drive_emulator/USB_HFE_hxc_floppy_emulator_firmware_release_notes.txt EDIT : Since the TI formats can clash with other machines formats, i recommend you to select the "TI99/4A" system family in the embedded menu to have a better image format selection, especially with images with the "dsk" extension. -

RAW/Sector dump FM (and MFM too) dsk images are of course supported by the HxC firmware for Gotek (about since a year.). -
This is simple : The SD HxC address a totally different market where the reliability is a must ! There are ~20000 SD HxC installed until now and some thousands are in very very very sensitive places where any failure can be catastrophic. So the firmware MUST be stable and reliable. Each firmware must be carefully tested during weeks before any release. The industrial peoples doesn't like products with 10 fix releases per year with tons of "cool"-but-not-really-needed features. For example the HFE cover the need for 99% of the industrial machines and adding others formats support will probably bring more users setting mistakes, less security/reliability (Important point : There is no CRC into these IMG files !) and something harder to test and validate : All the tests need to be executed for each formats and sub-format with different flash medias ! On the contrary on the "gotek" i can "play" much more, make some new experimental things and make quick releases. If someone can't play a game cause of an update, this is less an immediate problem than a factory production stopped cause of a firmware/hardware failure ! In the latter case we can be criminally responsible and pay for the prejudice... Not an option for me. To sum up, we are paid for the SD HxC for its maturity and stability since some years now. I may bring into some user interfaces improvements soon but i don't think i will touch the floppy emulation part. Have a look to the showroom to see some usages and the product orientation : http://hxc2001.com/showroom/ Hope you get the point. (And Thanks for the question).

So if i understand you, all these firmwares and work needed to code and support them doesn't even worth 14 buck ?
-
I never said that this is for the SD HxC. This the firmware for the Gotek USB "HxC".
-
Which is exactly the current status of the HxC Firmware for Gotek since 2015 : Direct support of ADF, HFE, ST files. And now CPC DSK and many more. (Full current list : Direct support of HFE, HFEv3, ADF, ST, IMG, (E)DSK, ADL, ADM, SSD, DSD, ADF (Acorn), LDF, D81, FD, SAD, MGT, TRD, SDD file formats) And many more to come . FYI Here is the release notes : http://hxc2001.com/download/floppy_drive_emulator/USB_HFE_hxc_floppy_emulator_firmware_release_notes.txt

For the speed I talked about the HxC Gotek firmware (the one you call "USB floppy emulator firmware") since i thought from your previous posts that you have it. So this was a cortex firmware ? For SD HxC have you updated the file selector to the latest version ?
-
Nop, not fully compatible with HxC For the faster thing : If you are talking about the hxc firmware, update your it and the hxc selector too : http://hxc2001.com/download/floppy_drive_emulator/USB_HFE_hxc_floppy_emulator_firmware_release_notes.txt http://hxc2001.com/download/floppy_drive_emulator/HXCFEUSB_HFE_beta_firmware.zip
