Atari 800 EASTERN FRONT Instructions
joyfulcoder replied to Delmoko's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I know you asked for PDF or text but the JPG images of the APX instructions at AtariMania may be good enough. -
The SpartaDOS X Reference Manual has a section on using Turbo BASIC XL with SpartaDOS X See Appendix C in the SpartaDOS X Reference Manual I know you said "original version of Turbo-BASIC" but thought this may still be helpful.

can the Atari XE game system play 2600 carts?
joyfulcoder replied to jd_1138's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
No, it can not play 2600 games. It can play 400/800/XL/XE computer games. With a disk drive connected you can play floppy disk games. -
Excellent! Thank you. Sorry about the flash glare. The top catbox has a resistor/connector thing in the phone jack socket which i think was used as a terminator when linking in a network. I also have a vga-st monitor adapter that came with one of the catboxes, but can't find it at the moment. If you are wondering where the 3rd catbox is, it's back on the Jaguar, was using the s-video output to capture some video footage of the SoulStar beta I have.

Very nice. Would you post some pictures of the sides with ports? Thanks!

Copying text from a BASIC listing to the PC
joyfulcoder replied to therealbountybob's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Thank you for the MemoPad plug. MemoPad is actually on my .com site. The full URL is joyfulcoder.com/memopad/ On your memopad site you mention Editing as a future upgrade. Have you done anymore changes to this program? Yes, I have. I completed my text editing engine. Caret movement and deleting and inserting text is also working. The current problem is the Window's caret occasionally disappears. I will fix this by drawing my own caret instead of using the Window's caret. I just need time to get back to it. Work for a Mac version has also been started but no idea when the first release will be ready. -
Need Help reverse engineering ACTION!
joyfulcoder replied to Jim Patchell's topic in Atari 5200 / 8-bit Programming
Hello Jim, I have attached a Zip file containing two .ACT files and two .BIN files for your two examples. Thanks, Eric examples.zip -
Bit of a Minter fan I see. Have you tried GridRunner Revolution for PC? The audio tracks were also released. No, I have not tried GridRunner Revolution. I no longer have a Boot Camp partition and gaming in a virtual machine is not always acceptable. Now that Jeff is coding for the iPhone and has expressed the possibility of Mac ports perhaps it may be possible in the near future.

New Debugger in Atari800MacX
joyfulcoder replied to atarimac's topic in Atari 5200 / 8-bit Programming
Hello Mark, Here is what I do to reproduce the problem: 1. Launch Atari800MacX I am booting into BASIC with all disk drives off 2. Choose Monitor from the Control menu Now the Monitor window is visible and active 3. Click the Debugger GUI button Now I see both the Monitor and the Debugger windows 4. In the Monitor execute the 'cont' command The Monitor window is hidden, Debugger window remains visible, emulator window is active 5. Click on the Debugger window The Monitor window appears. Both Monitor and Debugger are visible but do not accept any input from keyboard nor mouse. 6. Choose Monitor from the Control menu Now the Monitor and Debugger windows accept input Yes, the behavior is the same if I click the 'GO' button instead of executing the 'cont' command. I am using a 15" MacBook Pro running 10.6.1 Thank you, Eric -
New Debugger in Atari800MacX
joyfulcoder replied to atarimac's topic in Atari 5200 / 8-bit Programming
Hello Mark, Nice job. When I execute the "cont" cmd in the monitor the Monitor window closes but the Debugger window stays open. If I then click on the Debugger window the Monitor window reappears but it does not accept any keyboard input. All key strokes still go to the emulator. I can not type any further commands until I choose Monitor from the Control menu. Thanks, Eric -
Legacy Engineering USB joystick unpacking
joyfulcoder replied to orpheuswaking's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Hello, I ordered my joysticks on August 30, 2009. They were shipped to me on September 10th and I received them today. They work great! The stick movement is very nice. I do agree the fire button can be improved and I look forward to Curt's button update. As is these sticks are still a great buy and I'm very happy with them. Many thanks to Curt. Eric -
I went through the atarimania site and found 12 not already saved and added them to the current ATRs... good progress! I updated the spreadsheet (there only ones missing are the programs in red) SoftSide Magazines.zip I can't seem to open this document. Can someone save this as a text file or older Exel file? I found my Softside disks. I have issues 38, 40, 41, and 42. I just need to copy them off of the disks and post them. Allan Here is the same file in Excel 2003 format. I hope that helps. SoftSideMagazines-Excel2003.zip

I don't want to start any rumors but I thought I read he had passed away some years ago on Diana Gruber's site. Of course I can't find that reference anymore. This is true. Matt passed away a number of years ago. He was a known contributor in the Borland programming forums. I recognized the name and asked him if he was indeed the Mat*Rat from the Atari days and he replied confirming he was. I do not recall the cause of death. Just out of curiousity, what languages did he have interest/expertise in (i.e. Delphi, C++)? tjb I know he coded in C/C++ for sure as that was one of the Borland forums I read but I don't know what, if any, other languages he coded in. I did a search and found this app he made. The site says it comes with source code. Fortune Cookie
