i thought the max adress for a cart was 32Kb(2^15)- 15 adress lines and a12 as ce, or is this not for the 7800 mode. can i find information about the bankswitching used ?- do most of the games from the same size use different bankswitching ?

yesterday i bought my first atari 7800 !!!, without adapter or games, but when i tested it it had asteroids build in, apsolutely great !!! now i've downloaded a emulator and roms to look at the games..those games look great. but i wass wondering why have the roms such strange values : galaga 32896 byte,dk 49280 byte, these roms are not 2^... size(2^15=32768 byte) why ?? when people have some atari games they want to sell they only want to sell complete with an atari. most times it's at the flea market where i buy some stuff (about 3 day's it's 30 april :in holland there are everywhere flea markets!!!!) so now i have 6 juniors, 2 black vaders, 4 woodgrain 4 switch atari's. but i think its great i also collect atari systems... Now i want to buy a jaguar with 2 games but i already have them, but i want the jaguar(my jaguar smoked when i inserted the wrong adapter). and yes i think the atari 7800 32in1 is the same as the 2600 version, it looks thesame. it's not normal that a dreamcast does that..(at least mine doest ) and you're using some kind of rf adapter ? why not the a/v scart ?. isn't your tv making troubles ? test your dc with another tv, or with a tv a with scart connector. otherwise it's your dc.. Thelen

question for Jindroush : why do you want to have all the roms ??? and why won't you release roms to the public ? is it a problem that people have a cartridge image instead of a disk image ? - so i should dump my own cartrideg games ? Thelen
-
i was reading in the other topic that you have rom dumps of da'fuzz and lifespan(i don't know the games, but assuming their for atari) cartridges, where did you get these ? or did you dumped it yourself ? i just need roms Thelen

i have made a programmer which can read out cartridges and can write to a ram cartridge, and a ram cartridge with a parallel port plug on it, it can be made but you need a litlle knowledge of electronics... but you could do it. the starpath supercharger is a easier way to do it. thelen

What's the rarest cart you ever found in the wild?
Thelen replied to Bob Mackey's topic in Atari 2600

hoi hier nog een nederlander, ja zo rond 1995 hadden ze bij mij in de buurt veel atari spullen 800XE's met een zak vol spellen, atari 2600's, lynx...ik heb er nu nog spijt van dat ik toen niks had gekocht, toen verzamelde ik nog niet. in 1997 had ik er een jaguar gekocht met 15 spellen(die heb ik laten roken : ( omdat ik er een verkeerde adapter op aan had gesloten..,en kan het nummer van het ic niet meer zien want er zit een gaatje in) .. maar het bijna 30 april dus dan ga ik weer eens op zoek naar atari spullen. today i opened up my 800XE machine, because the lowest row of the keyboard didn't do anything.. and i looked at the board, and there was standing : 130XE(64x4). is it so that a 800XE/(65XE-XEGS) uses the same board, only missing 2 32KB dram chips ? and if i solder them in ? Thelen

what do you mean by the plug was getting hot, you mean the connector from you adapter ?, then there must be a little short circuit. if you open you're atari, you can see the voltage regulator (in all versions) a 7805. it has 3 pins. you could look with a multimeter what voltage is comming out of it (black on wire on the middle, and red on the right) if the power circuit is ok then there should be 5.00 volt, if not you could look at the recistance between the left and the middle pin of the regulator. if this is ~0 ohm then there is a short cicuit..and if you're plug from the adapter is getting hot it could be in the power connector. well yes it will run, but i suggest to use a 500 mA or more adapter. the atari 2600 (jr) uses ~490 mA. it will run (for a time) with a 200 mA one, but it can get hot... TheleN
