cool that you're making a haunted house for the 8 bit. where did you download that atari assembly cartridge (rom)?? do they have also game roms ? i've searched for it but could never found any of them.
hope you put some more pages from atari assembler online.
thanks, TheleN

you have to connect a12 (pin 2 of eprom) to the 7474 ic pin 5 (this is Q0) and pin 28 and 27 of the eprom connected to the +5V. and make sure the CE from the atari(a12) is going uninverted to the 74133 and inverted to CE (pin 20) of the eprom. pin 22 of the eprom (/oe) must go to gnd.
but i see you use a regular cart pcb, did you just solder the 2764 on the board? you will have to modify the pcb so the pinout of the rom (which was on the board) is the same as the 2764. the rom which was on the board is pin compatible with an 2532, but a 2764 not. so you have to modify the pcb (if you didn't)

i want to make a sram cartridge for my videopac, but are there differences between videopac / odyssey roms or pal / ntsc /secam roms ?
and i noticed that with 4k games the CE goes to OE and P10 goes to CE to the rom (why ?)
compared it with a 2732 eprom.
and knows sombody a site where i can download videopac+ roms for the videopac G7400 (is that the odyssey 2 ??)

who could tell me how the data is saved to a tape, or know a site with some information about it.
is it true that the only important used lines for data are the motor control and data in line (from atari)?
i want to connect it to my computer, so i can save some tapes and load them from my pc.
thanks, thelen

if you have a floppy drive and a game, you insert the game in the drive and power on the atari and it boots up. just like a cart (no cload or something)
but if you use a sio cable, the pc emulates a atari drive. the atari think it's communicating with a disk drive. I did build the sio2pc interface and it worked great.

that's great. can't wait to play a commercial rom with it since my jaguar is broken !!

try it.

yes, the 2764 has more pins. you can't put it on a normal cart. you need some extra hardware in the cartridge, because the atari only have 12 adress lines (4K a0-a11) and the 2764 has a0-a12. to fix this you will have to bankswitch. the type of bankswitch depend on the game you want.(you can find it at the bankswitching FAQ). the most of the 8K games use F8 bankswitching.
for the schematic for F8 bankswitching (8K) you should look here (john soper's reply).

I did ask this some time ago. i've build the circuit for my sram cart and it worked perfect.

I am Interested to.
i did a little programming on 2600 but stopped. always problems with the video sync.
-
it looks great. and easy. i just to program quickbasic and it looks like it.
but i'm not familiar with the 5200 since it wasn't released at holland. shame.
(a version for the 2600 would be great, but to difficult i think)

skatepunk60 is right, it's a good composite mod. the image is perfect, there's no interference at all. but one problem is that my screen has almost no yellow. when i put the color switch to b/w i see yellow.
is this because i am using a PAL television or pal games or so ?? (i can't get it better with the potmeters)

hi,
I/ve have written a program which let you edit the rom. you just put it in a map with the rom(s) you want to edit. start the program and you'l see a raster of 20*8 bit blocks.
then you can load a rom, save the rom under a name, goto a adress etc. and if you find the graphics in the rom you can click on it with your mouse to edit the graph, and save the rom and play it. works easy
for example if you want to edit berzerk:
start the program, press l (load) and give a filename : berzerk (ms-dos name)
then you can edit the rom where you want.
the graph of the player starts at adress 3500 (decimal) so press g (goto) and then give the adress : 3500 and you will see the players graphics.
press a to move a adress up and z to go down.
if you are interested mail me, or write down your e-mail adress so i could send it. (got still no site)

it's a nice idea, but do you know where you're talking about ? any idea about hardware development ? processors_ digital stuff.. your just dreamin. what about adding an harddisk ? (grapje !!!)

The roms you play with the emulator are exact copies of the cartridge rom. so you can burn the rom (.bin file) on a PROM or an EPROM.
but you will need cartridge PCB's and cases,
and a eprom programmer( solder experience and know how to wire)
4K games are easy to burn and put on the pcb, but 8K games and higher need some extra hardware in the cartridge(bankswitching)when you put it on a standart 2764 eprom.

hi sark,
i have made a cartridge reader/writer and a ram cart, and i am planning to make a site for it in a few weeks. i've made the hard- and software self and it's working great.for now on my software only supports 2K 4K and F8 bankswitching carts to read out. i've made an ram cart with F8 bankswitching too.
when you wants to make you will need an SRAM which you can get from old 486 mainboards
i've got some 62256/24257/5c2568 found working.
but you'll need a constant power for it to hold it memmorie. because of the high poer consumption of these, i've used a sram drom an NES cart which uses like 0,00015 mA and the battery from in.
as soon when i've got a site i will post it

if you can solder you can take a tv coax cable and solder a CINCH on it for pluggin in the atari and a tv plug on the other end for in the tv, this won't be so expensive

but why, does the cart have some ram onboard ??
when it is so who can tell me about the bank(ram) switching adresses etc.

today i've tried to play Videolife on the Z26 emulator, and i've read the manual of videolife but i cant do anything (i can control the dot and reset it and it counts, but i always have that dirt screen when it starts)
or is it a special cartridge with ram or so ?
so that the rom only won't work?
who know how to play ??

Well it worked on a real atari (tested it 10 minutes ago with my self made sram cartridge. I'm planning to make a site with detailed instuctions on how to make the programmer/reader and cart layout)
but with one exeption when you pull on you will see already fIRE standing beneath when it draws STAR. when it goes drawing FIRE the beneath FIRE will disappear when it's at FI.
(strange)
the rest acts normally like at Z26
(maybe it could be because i'm using a PAL tv)

sio2pc and a 1050
in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Posted
i wanted to copy some atari floppies to my pc with the sio2pc interface, so i connected my pc to the atari and to my 1050. my 1050 is device #2 and i boot dos 2.0 from the pc(others make no difference with copying). then i load EMPTY.ATR in the pc and choose for P -physical file acces. on the atari i choose format and EMPTY.ATR gets formatted.
Then i want to duplicate a disk, and the 1050 starts to load, and then the pc starts writing sectors, but after +/- 20 sectors have been written, i hear the sound when you start your atari and get in basic.
then i get a error - 138 at my atari.
So i tried to write dos files to the empty disk, doesn't work, make the 1050 device #1....and on. been trying now for 3 hours everything but it won't work.
copy a disk from pc to the 1050 works.
and if I choose in menu for C - create atari disk image - and then select SD 92K i can't format it or write to it..how can i do that ?-make it like a physical disk ?
any help would be great, my floppies are rotting.
