  1. I've beaten it also. Anyone following the halo hacking that's going on now? Pretty interesting stuff. Can't wait for banshee's in multiplayer!!

I'm almost positive that Halo for the PC and Mac is going to have Banshee's in multiplayer. The PC version of Halo is going to be released in September I think. A good tune-up for Halo 2. :D Anyone else looking forward to Halo 2? Is that Halo 2 e3 movie sweet or what?

  2. I'm actually buying less games these days. How does the old phrase go, "Jack of all trades, master of none". I would rather buy a few games and actually master and finish them than buy a whole bunch of games that sit around, unfinished and collect dust and that remind me of all the time and money wasted in buying the games.

I started to not enjoy games as much as I did when I was a teenager. When I was young, I could only afford to buy one or two games every few months. I would enjoy them more because it was all about getting into the game and finishing it and mastering the game. As a result, I would appreciate the game more and enjoy it more. I got that feeling back by not getting all caught up in the collecting hype. The feeling I get from being really good at a game is much more satisfying that having a large game collection. At least to me it is.

Now I just buy like ten games a year, classic and new. As a result, I enjoy my games more and have become really good at some of them.

  3. I picked up Protector SE with Native and JAG-ADS at Jagfest 2k3/CGE. Very cool. Protector SE is a fun addictive shumup. Now I can play BIWN with Jagfree. Wahoo!

JAG-ADS is very cool, a really nice product. I only saw the Tempest 2000 and Alien vs. Predator commercials back in the day and I only saw each one, once. You had to stay up till like 2:00am watching Silk Stalkings on the USA Network, in order to see a Jaguar commercial, because of Atari's deep pockets. :D Didn't even know there was a Cybermorph commercial. The Kasumi Ninja and Tempest 2000(PC version) commercials are good for a laugh.

  4. XB Live is great. Games like Unreal Championship, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, MechAssualt and PSO have been great. Voice communication is so cool for multi-player games.

Get Xbox Live now, while it is still $49.95. The price of the Xbox Live kit and one years worth of service goes up to $69.95 this fall. Renewal will be $50 per year though. The only game that charges extra is Phantasy Star Online, $8.95 per month after two months free. All the other games do not have an extra fee.

Check Best Buy if you buy an XBox Live kit, they still might be running a great deal. I bought mine there a couple of months ago and if you buy the XBL kit and a game together, they give you a $20 in-store rebate. Hell of a deal if they still have it going.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein is getting most of my XB Live time these days, really fun team based FPS.

There are also a bunch of great Live games in the future that you will only find on the XB. Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge, Project Gotham Racing 2, True Fantasy Live, Conker: Live and Uncut, Dead or Alive Online, Sega GT Online, Steel Battalion 2, Unreal II(the XB version is going to have multi-player, the PC version doesn't) and then of course(drum roll)...Halo 2. Ninja Gaiden and Fable are also supposed to utilize Live in some fasion as well.

As for which is better between PSO and SW: KOTOR. PSO is great fun and you can play online and KOTOR is a single player RPG with downloadable content. KOTOR is a great game though, one of the best on the Xbox and Game of the Year material.

  5. Ya, I beat Halo on Legendary....twice. I've finished Halo 5 times....Twice on regular, twice on Legendary and once on the level between normal and legendary. I've also beat the one level(silent cartographer) demo of Halo, twice. The one level demo has a funny ending.

As for the ending of Halo if you beat it on Legendary. The ending movie is slightly different. A little Human on Alien love. :D

  6. Bought my Jag at the begining of December in 1993. My local EB called one of the EB stores in New York City and had it shipped to the store. I was so happy when I went to pick it up a few days later. :D

I have both a K and M series Jaguar. The K is one of the original 50,000, correct? The original 50,000 also came with a really short cord for the joypad.

  7. house of the dead 3.. freakin awesome.

I'm with liquid sky, The House of Dead 3 for the XBox is a great game and House of Dead 2 is also included. So far, HOD3 is the only lightgun game on the XB. Starsky and Hutch comes out in the next month or so though and that's a driving game that uses the lightgun in the 2 player mode. One player drives and the other shoots with the lightgun. Virtua Cop 3 is also rumored to come out for the XB in 2004.

  8. Raiden is fairly easy to find on Ebay. Maybe a place like The Goatstore will have a resonably priced used copy. Maybe someone has an extra copy they are willing to sell you in here. Anyone?

I'm about to move in a few days and just packed up my Jaguar stuff, but I think if you make a photocopy of the overlay in the instructions, it is the same size as the real one. As for the ones you download off the net, those are a pain in the arse to size right, at least for me. :D

  9. Cybermorph is a great shooter. Kinda like a shooter/adventure game hybrid, because there are so many worlds to explore. Check out Battlemorph for the Jaguar CD also, even better. If you have the instruction booklet for Cybermorph, then there is a copy of the overlay in there. Atariage probably has a copy of the instruction booklet in the Jaguar section.

  10. It's a disapointing game.It could have been done on the SNES.64 Bit my ass.

BS, I don't think the SNES could handle the color palette, resolution and speed that Defender 2000 runs at. The sound and music also wouldn't be as rich sounding on the SNES. When you get all the power-ups in Defender 2000 and have like six guys hanging from your ship and the screen is filled with multiple baddies(this is when D2k is the most fun), there would be mega slowdown on the SNES.

    Get it on Lassie! :D

  11.

Has anyone got a top score in Gauntlet mode?  I played for like 45 min. to an hour one time and didn't even get on the high score board.

I've had a top score upwards of 7,500,000. I went to wave 6,666 using a jacked up Rapier and set my number of starbases to 1. You get an astronomical amount of bonus points if you're able to complete the wave without losing the starbase. 8)

How long did it take you to get that score?

  12. Multi-taps and memory cards.....those were cool back in the day. :D

I'll get the Xbox version of this great Atari/Midway/Williams arcade compilation.

There better be a second one with Tournament Cyberball 2049, Gauntlet II, Stun Runner, Hydra, Major Havoc, Atari Tetris, Hard Drivin' and Star Wars: The Arcade Game. Although I don't know if Midway could publish home versions of Tetris and Star Wars.

  13. The robot is NOT "ET".

Someone must know who he is!!!

    C'mon guys!

It's the repair droid from Star Raiders. :D

Also, been meaning to post about this for a long time now but have been playing other games as of late. Has anyone got a top score in Gauntlet mode? I played for like 45 min. to an hour one time and didn't even get on the high score board. Also, is it possible to dock with a starbase in Gauntlet mode.

I've owned BattleSphere for far too long and have played it far too little. Really need to get into this game. Topics like this help. :D

  14. Halo is two player mission co-op and four player deathmatch/capture the flag, etc, on one TV. Return to Castle Wolfentein has a two-player co-op as well, but only supports multiplayer via system link and online. Unreal Championship supports 4 player on one TV and also has bots running around as well. Not sure about Ghost Recon. The rest of the FPS line-up on the XB is average, until this fall when more good ones are released.

  15. I'm glad you've been posting since 93 or 94, thats great all the power to you.  Half baked screen shot? talk to whoever posted it on THIS SITE. For the record i have a pretty good 36" tv with AV cables (i made a post earlier about s-video because i was experiencing "color bleeding",not as much as the rf but still) and i can get my game to look nowhere as good as the back of the box.  You can think of the Jaguar version as being "graphically enhanced" over the arcade all you want, thats just your opinion. I didnt say i hated the game (I love Raiden on all systems) But you did forget to post this review for some reason

"Still, fans of the original will more or less feel at home with Jaguar Raiden. The enemies and stages are all there, and flicker and slowdown are thankfully not present anywhere. But hardcore shooter addicts might want to think about opting instead for the vastly superior PlayStation version that's faster, flashier and better overall. And if you don't have a.... hell, do yourself a favor and buy a Playstation"

    -AGH Jaguar Review

That review of Raiden is horrible. In the same paragraph he praises how "exemplary" the arcade version of Raiden is and then he blasts the enemies and weapon power-up system for not being deep in the Jaguar version. Hello Mr. Reviewer!! The enemies and weapon power-up system in the Jaguar version is the same as the arcade game! With this comment, the reviewer loses all credibility and is either a PSX fanboy or has never played the arcade version. Total junk review.

As for the Jaguar being graphically enhanced over the arcade version being, "just your opinion". You are wrong there as well. I already quoted the Gamepro preview that mentioned how the Jag version has enhanced shadowing(check out the screenshots that you posted) and Gunstar and I pointed out the fact about the asteroids looking better. Here is another review stating how the graphics of Raiden are enhanced on the Jaguar.

"Overall: Raiden is arcade perfect as it should be. The graphics in most accounts are better then the arcade and so is the rest of the game. I enjoyed this game despite it being very easy (I actually find myself replaying it quite a bit) My guess is you can find this now (being 3 years old) pretty cheap. With that being the case, if you enjoy shooters and enjoyed the arcade game you will probably get your moneys worth out of this one. RATING: 7.5"

  16. Just picked up the GC and free GBA player bundle the other day. :D One hell of a deal at $149(US) and a free preview disk as well.

GBA games look so great on the TV. You would think it would be super pixelly, but it isn't and looks great. High-res 2D 32-bit gaming on your TV. Joy!

  17. Brute Force is great 4 person multi-player game on one TV. Brute Force is also a great single player game as well. Four people can play in Campaign mode, Deathmatch and Squad Deathmatch(each person controls 4 characters, for a total of 16 characters running around the map!). The cool thing about Brute Force, is that another player can join in at anytime, even in the middle of a mission, totally cool.

Dead or Alive 3 is one of the best fighters out there and it has a great 4 player tag-team mode. The trash talking and laughs will get intense during 4 player tag-team mode. :D

Phantasy Star Online also supports 4 player split screen on one TV. Multi-player PSO kinda has a Gauntlet feel to it, but with more RPG elements. You also MUST HAVE Xbox Live in order to play PSO offline, which kinda sucks. If you have XB Live though, PSO is great fun.

Also keep an eye out for Dungeons and Dragons Heros by Atari, for the Xbox later this summer. I'm not sure if it will be a 4 player dungeon crawler, like Gauntlet, or limited to two players like Baulder's Gate: Dark Alliance.

  18. Yes, I can get Raiden on my TV to look as good as the pics on the back of the box, but I have a nice TV and AV cables. I'm sure Raiden will look even better once I get some S-video cables.

Your trying to BS some longtime Jaguar owners here, who have been Jaguar fans and posting in Jaguar forums since 93' and 94'. Your half baked screen shot and argument are a joke and it makes you look like a fool. Holy_FBR, do you belong to the Flat Earth Society or something?

Besides the vertical screen problem that Gunstar and I have pointed out to you, the Jaguar version is enhanced graphically over the arcade original. Since you don't believe us...

"..no slowdown and more detailed shading for the graphics."

    -Gamepro, October 1993

"..perfectly captures the graphics of Fabtek's arcade original."

    -Electronic Games, June 1994

"..lack of slowdown and flicker makes Raiden on the Jaguar look great next to existing home versions of the game"

    -Video Games, November 1993

"No other system comes close to accurately converting this arcade game to the home console."

    Diehard Gamefan, October 1993
