  1. Here is a list of some good XB exclusives off the top of my head: Halo Project Gotham Racing Dead or Alive 3 GunValkyrie Jet Set Radio Future Oddworld Quantum Redshift The House of the Dead III MechAssualt Crazy Taxi 3 Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball Panzer Dragoon Orta Sega GT 2002 Moto GP/Moto GP 2 Midtown Madness 3 Brute Force Some future exclusives that look to be good: Ninja Gaiden Fable Project Gotham Racing 2 Halo 2 Dead or Alive: Online Sega GT: Online Sudeki Otogi Dino Crisis 3 Psychonaughts Kingdom Under Fire: Crusaders Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge As for the whole PC vs. XB thing, a cutting edge PC is obviously more powerful than an XB. The PC version of a game isn't always better than the XB version though. Wolfenstein on the XB has 7 extra levels, a shotgun, new intro movie, co-op and voice communication for online multiplayer. This is from the developer Ritual, who is porting Conter-Strike for Microsoft to the XB: "The XB version is the best looking version of Counter-Strike to date. The XB version will contain higher polygon models, more detailed geometry, updated color themes, and a whole host of Xbox-exclusive effects and graphic features" - Tom Mustaine, co-owner of Ritual in July issue of OXM. The XB version of CS will have all the material in CS: Condition Zero for the PC, plus some exclusive weapons. single and multiplayer maps and missions. Mod makers will also be able to make their own maps on the XB version as well. The GeForce 3 chip in the Xbox is a custom made XB only GeForce chip and is more powerful than the PC GF3. Most XB games also support DD 5.1, HDTV and widescreen.
  2. I always thought that the graphics on the Jag version of Raiden were enhanced over the arcade version(except for the score and life counter on the side). I though I remember reading back in the day that the asteroids on Jag Raiden looked way better than those in the arcade version.
  3. Skyhammer is a bittersweet experience. On one hand, it could have been the best or one of the best games on the Jaguar. The only problem though, is the game can not be finished. I have put MANY hours into trying to finish SH, but can't get past the second city without the game freezing up. SH gets insanly difficult when you get to the end of the second city missions, and I mean that in a good way. The radar screen in your ship will be going bonkers with enemy blips and you'll have like 30 enemy ships and a couple of those big battle cruisers in the air and on the ground there will be like another 30 tanks and gun emplacements. It is just crazy hard and fun. Hyperforce is a great game and it reminds me of the great side scrolling Psygnosis platformers from the Amiga and ST days. It kinda has the feel of Obliterator, if you ever played that Psygnosis sci-fi platformer. Havn't bought any of the others, but plan on picking up Protector SE at the CGE in Vegas this year.
  4. The Jag version of Wolfenstein 3D is WAY better than the PC version. Control, graphics, sound, music, everything. The Jag version is missing the PC-13(Profound Carnage) logo at the begining though, which was good for a laugh back in the day. I'm sure id would give the OK if some high speed Jag fan with some Jag coding skills wanted to port Wolfenstein 3D: Spear of Destiny to the Jag.
  5. It sounds like you two need to meet in Vegas at Jagfest 2k3, to settle the score. Jagfest 2k3 in Vegas is still on, right?
  6. This guy beat your score: http://www.angelfire.com/nv/jaguartop50/punisher.html The real hardcore Jaguar racing gamers are here though. I don't think that anyone can match the awesome skills of the top gamer here. http://www.angelfire.com/nv/jaguartop50/cl...drivetop50.html
  7. Hey, Colin McRae Rally 3 is by Code Masters, not Atari. I don't blame the French for not wanting to go to war in Iraq and I'm American and fought in the first Gulf war. French leaders were just doing their job and looking out for France's econimic interests. You don't see the US going to war with Saudi Arabia, yet that is where most of the terrorists and funding for terrorism comes from. Compared to Hasbro, Infogrames is doing an excellent job with the Atari brand. BTW, I think most people would consider the "real" Atari to be the Bushnell/Time Warner/Tramiel era. Some of same products were produced and some of the same people worked at Atari during those times. Now Atari is just a name brand. Maybe if the new Atari hired some of the old Midway West(Atari Games) people and maybe Jeff Minter and a few others to make games, it would feel more like the old Atari.
  8. I know the GBA Player can be linked with a GBA. You can have one person playing on the TV and linked with other gamers playing on one or more GBA's for multi-player. I would think you could use a eReader with the GBA Player, but I don't know for sure.
  9. Enjoyed NiGhts on the Saturn and Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast. I haven't really bought a 3D platformer in a couple of years. I guess you could consider GunValkyrie a 3D platformer/3D shooter. GunValkyrie on the Xbox was one of my favorite games of 2002. The next 3D platformer I'll buy will probably be Ninja Gaiden on the Xbox. That just might be the best 3D platformer ever. The new Castlevania on the PS2 looks like it might be good as well.
  10. I thought Trevor McFur was the Jag mascot.
  11. The e-Reader does work with the GBPsp. I've used mine many a time with my GBAsp. "Plug the e-Reader into your Game Boy Advance SP, swipe e-Reader cards through it, and -- voilà! Download images, text, even a complete game!" source: http://www.nintendo.com/systems/gba/accessories.jsp If you have the North American version of the e-Reader, then you can download a game into your GBAsp and then unplug the e-Reader and still play the e-Reader game in comfort. The new Japanese e-Reader will also be able to do this.
  12. That game was designed for that specific pixel dimension though. The original Neo Geo Metal Slug had a much larger viewing area than the GBA's 240x160 display. The viewable play field is cropped. Assuming Playmore doesn't resize everything.. and turn the graphics into Mortal Kombat Advance all over again. It sounds like it will be resized for the GBA. Metal Slug: 1st & 2nd Mission worked out great on the NGPC. Hopefully the same will be able to be said about Metal Slug Advanced. I'm crossing my fingers that Micro$oft will lay out some cash at this years e3 for a little Metal Slug 3D love on my Xbox.
  13. The GBA feels slightly better in my hands than the sp(both are no where near as good as the NGPC). The GBAsp is better though, because of the brighter backlite screen, compact design which helps the screen from getting scratched when closed, rechargeable battery. Don't even think about getting the original GBA, the sp is the way to go. All GB and GBC games work with the GBAsp. The only one that doesn't work with the sp is Kirby's Tilt n' Tumble. The e-Reader also works with the GBAsp, if your a Pokemon junkie or want to play some old school NES games.
  14. GC isn't doing that hot in America either. Gamecubers just don't seem to be buying any games, especially 3rd party games. These are the numbers as of the end of January 2003. 15. Tempest 3000 is a good game, but I prefer T2k. T2k just seems more of a polished and complete game. Things that I don't like about T3k when compared to T2k: -the blured graphics, they are blured to get that old school vector graphic blur thing going. Good idea, but it seems overdone and too blurry. -warp levels in T2k are better -the sense of depth is better in t2k. For lack of a better description, the webs in T3k seem stunted or shorter in depth. Also, when you jump off the web, you can barely tell your ship is up off the web. -the control and collision detection seems slightly better in T2k. -like the power-up system in T2k better. -password saves are annoying Tempest 3000 does have better music though and all the color is nice.
  16. Giga Power. Ya, comparing the Jag and Neo Geo is kinda pointless, as they are just two different experiences. The Neo Geo has the whole 2D fighter, 2D shooter, and old school arcade vibe going. The Jag on the other hand has more of a sci-fi 2D/3D/FPS shooter theme going on in it's library of games. I'm a big fan of the sci fi 2D/3D/FPS shooter genre, that is why I enjoy games such as T2k, Raiden, Doom, AVP, Defender 2000, Zero5, Battlesphere, Iron Soldier 1/2, Cyber/Battlemorph, Hover Strike(CD version), I-War, Missile Command 3D and Skyhammer. I still need to pick up Protector SE though. Hanzo fan, hey? I always enjoyed playing as Galford.
  17. Here you go. The AVP manual in HTML format, so that you can easily print it out. http://www.atariage.com/manual_html_page.h...SoftwareID=2538
  18. I think holy_fluck is just speaking from lack of experience. Get AVP, W3D, Doom, Jag CD, IS 1&2, Cyber/Battlemorph, Zero5, Battlesphere/Gold, Highlander, HS: UL, Ultra Vortek, Defender 2000, MC:3D, Super Burnout, Val. Sking & Snowboarding, WTR, Towers II and Skyhammer and then come tell us that the Neo Geo and 32X can do those games. 3DO, maybe, but then you have to deal with the terrible controllers and long loading times. Can the 3DO even be linked? That is "IF" the above mentioned games were available for the Neo Geo, 32X and 3DO, which most of them aren't. Wolfenstein 3D Jag is better than the low res 3DO version and Jag Doom smokes the 32X version. Recent post by holy_fluck: "These are the ones that I own: Bubsy, Tempest 2k, Power Drive Rally, Flip Out, Kasumi Ninja, Raiden."
  19. You need to give us more info. Like are you playing as the Marine, Alien or Predator? The Marine is the hardest charater to complete the game with, because you need to find all the access cards and find your way through the maze that is the ventilation system. The Marine is the most satisfying character to play with though. The Predator is the easiest to start out with and to complete the game with. The Predator also has some cool weapons and the battle with the Alien Queen at the end is cool. You have the instructions and overlays with your copy, right? That will make it much easier to figure out what to do.

    Warbirds

Oh man, Warbirds is so fun linked. It's fun to play with limited ammo, then you can actually land at your base to replenish your ammo, if you ditch the person your playing agianst in the clouds. Ever try to land agianst the all knowing computer? You can land, but you probably won't make it off the ground. Linked Warbirds and Battlewheels are some of the most fun I have had playing video games. Almost as fun as lan Halo. You going to the CGE/Jagfest 2k3 this year? I'll be there with Lynx and link cable.
  21. Some good cart games that you can still get for cheap. Wolfenstein 3D, Iron Soldier, Raiden, Cybermorph, Pitfall: The Myan Adventure and Syndicate. If you want to spend a little more, try AVP and Missile Command 3D.
  22. The Jaguar received far more criticism than other systems that weren’t that popular. Especially from mags such as EGM. I feel that EGM busted on the Jag more than the Neo Geo, NGPC, Turbo Duo, Sega CD, 3DO and Virtual Boy combined. EGM was anti-Atari, even before the Jag. This bias was not only in jokes about the Jaguar, the bias also carried over to game reviews as well. As for comparing the Neo Geo to the Jag. The Jag has a more well rounded library of games. If you’re not a fan of fighters, the Neo Geo has a very weak game line-up. As for graphics, the Jag is better than the Neo Geo as well. The Neo Geo could only dream to do 3D games such as AVP, Doom, HS: Unconquered Lands, Missile Command 3D, Battlemorph, etc. The KOF and Samurai Shodown series are better fighters than anything on the Jag, but I feel that Ultra Vortek, Kasumi Ninja and Primal Rage have better graphics.
  23. Cybermorph is the only black cart right? Maybe only the first 50,000 copies of Cybermorph. It seems that the majority of the 3rd party games are the ones without the Atari logo. The ones published by TWI, 21st Century, Williams, Telegames, 4Play, etc. My copy of Syndicate has the Atari logo though and that was published by Ocean.
