Ya, get the CD version of IS2. It has all the FMV, which is quite extensive and very cool. It will probably also cost you less than the cart. Like with most Jag CD games, load times are not an issue. Nowhere near as bad as Primal "still loading" Rage. Does the cart version have surround sound like the CD version does?

So what's everybody playing right now...
AtariX replied to Foxy Cleopatra's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Xbox- Morrowind, Panzer Dragoon Orta and Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball. Jaguar- Battlesphere, Zero 5 and finishing up Hover Strike: Unconquered Lands on Hard, so that I can see the full ending. GBA- Phantasy Star Collection PC- Unreal Gold Atari ST- Airborne Ranger -
I forgot about the GBA version of Pitfall: The Myan Adventure. I wonder if that has the hidden Pitfall! game as well? Did the PS1 also get that Activision Action Pack as well, or was that only on the PC? So I guess we are possibly up to 13 or 14.
-
Pitfall! Atari 2600, Atari 5200, Colecovision, Intellivision and Atari XE Game System. Then there is the original hidden Pitfall! game in Pitfall: The Myan Adventure. That was on the SNES, Genesis, Jaguar and Sega CD. Then there is Pitfall! on that Activision 2600 compilation, on the PS2. That makes 10! The Pac Man or Ms. Pac Man still might win out though. All those Namco greatest hits on modern systems.

Who's got Phantasy Star Online for the DC?
AtariX replied to Atariman's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I know they switched some of the servers for the DC version, so they could use them for the Gamecube version. I'm not sure if any are still open for the DC. I used to spend/waste WAY too much time playing PSO on-line, back in the day. I also enjoyed playing PSO off-line as well. Hard as hell trying to kill some of the bosses by yourself though. -
Vinnie, great website. Enjoyed all the info and the humor. I remember how psyched I was to get Karateka a couple of years ago. I remembered all the good times I had playing Karateka back in the 8-bit computer days. Boy, were my hopes for gaming bliss dashed with the horrible 7800 version of Karateka. Who is the idiot who playtested, or didn't playtest this game and authorized it to be released?

Total Carnage is like an Ikari Warriors, Commando type game. I found the ad for Total Carnage in a old magazine I have. Considering current events, I had a little chuckle while reading the ad. Total Carnage Get ready for the mother of all battles! Your mission: Stop a mad dictator bent on destroying the world! Rescue civilians, eliminate key targets, and destroy General Akhboob's bi-nuclear generators, which he's using to create his endless mutant army. On your side: An awesome arsenal of the 21st century's most destructive weaponry. On their side: The nastiest mutated enemies and the baddest bosses you'll ever want to see!

Ahh...now that I think about it, maybe only twenty to thirty hours. My first estimation seems kinda high. If you want to find the secret planets though, then you will have to thouroughly explore every planet. Now you have me wanting to play Cybermorph agian.
-
There are fifty planets and four secret planets. I would say there is a good fourty to fifty hours worth of gameplay in Cybermorph. It all depends on how often you die and how much of each planet you want to explore.

Steve- Just as long as you guys make that new Medal of Honor game set in the Pacific for the Xbox, then I'll be a happy gamer. Can't wait to storm the beaches of Guadacanal.

Hi, Just check ebay cybermorph is the cheapest Jaguar game around.... TXG/MNX I saw a boxed Cybermorph go for like $30 or $40 on ebay recently. I guess those are kinda rare. Mendon, get the pack-in Cybermorph with instructions though. The boxed version had less memory and some stuff from the original version was taken out.
-
How about you super glue them to YOUR body, then YOU could be the Cybermoreph man. Be sure to take pics though and post them here. Then all you have to do is look at your body if you forget how to spell the name of the game. Cybermorph is in my Jag Top 10, along with about 20 other Jag games.

EA had some big name games come out for the Atari 8-bit line in 83', such as One-on-One, Lords of Conquest, Seven Cities of Gold, Racing Destruction Set, etc. The crash started in Fall of 83', the Tramiels took over in 84'. The Commodore 64/128 line had a nice 64k base to work with. The Atari line was fragmented and ranged from 16k to 128k, with 48k being the base for most games. We all know that 64k versions of Atari games held their own agianst 64k Commodore games(with the faster Atari disk drive, it was even better), but how many 64k+ Atari owners were there compared to 64k+ Commodore owners? How much money and effort did the Tramiels put into geting 3rd party developers to make 64k games for the XE line, as compared to getting games made for the ST? I think it is wrong to single out EA for bailing on the Atari 8-bit, when almost everyone did at around the same time.

Hoverstrike on the cart is a dog of a game. The CD version is an excellent game though, go with that version if you can. If you want some tank action for the Jag on a cart, I-War is a solid game with some good gameplay and some trippy gurard(sp?) shaded polygons.

Welcome to the Jungle, Mendon. The Jag is a great system and has a nice group of hardcore gamers and supporters. They are great for info and support and we still get a few new games and products from time to time. I drove up to New York City in early December of 93' to get a test market Jag(with a short joypad cord) and that same system has been alive and kickin' ever since and has given me many hours of gaming joy. You started out your Jag gaming the right way, with some great games. If you like platformers, I find Flashback and Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure to be much better than Bubsy. Like Stone said, Syndicate is an excellent sim/god type game and my personal favorite in that genre. You gotta love the flame throwers and sniper rifles in Syndicate. Cannon Fodder isn't that buggy, but it is hard as hell. The key to Cannon Fodder, is that every now and then, you have to sacrafice a few of your little dudes to keep the gaming gods happy. If you go a long time in CF without a few of your dudes dying, then the game seems to get buggy. Try Raiden and Super Burnout for some great sweaty palms, don't blink, gaming action.

Then how come EA still developes Nintendo GC games? J/K Almost everyone abandoned the Atari 8-bit in the mid eighties. Can you blam them? Atari almost went out of buisness in the great crash and they had new owners. The Tramiels put most of the focus on the Atari ST line, which EA, Microprose, Lucasarts, Activision, Epyx and most of the other big publishers out there supported from the mid to late 80's. If you were a hardcore Atari XE/XL gamer in the mid to late 80's, then your selection was pretty thin. Most of the games then were either the XE Atari cart releases and the budget flippie games(which let's be honest, most of those sucked compared to the good games of the day). I know I jumped ship back then and didn't miss out on some great gaming with the likes of Artic Fox, Skyfox, Gunship, Winter Games, Battlehawks 1942, Battletech, Pirates and many others.

If you sent in the registration cards, then you would get put on Atari's mailing list. Then you would get those cool Jaguar post cards that people sell on ebay these days. I also recieved a bunch of catalogs, sell sheets, announcements and order forms, to order Jaguar and Lynx stuff from Atari. I also recieved the Jag-ware catalog, so you could order all the cool uber-geek Jaguar hats, shirts, pens, etc.. Like a true Jaguar fan, I kept all that stuff and still have it all. Replacement manuals and overlays were $3.50 each. The Jaguar was still $249.99. The S-Video cable was only $19.95. Coming soon...Tiny Toon Adventures $59.99, Star Raiders 2000 $59.99.

I bet you could find the CD cover and instructions on the net somewhere.

Here is the link to the game manual here at Atari Age, if you didn't get that with your copy. It lists a few of the super dunks. http://www.atariage.com/manual_html_page.h...SoftwareID=2515 The super dunks really make the action in WMCJ much more exciting and fast paced. Don't ask me how I got this , but here is the super secret info that Atari didn't want you to know. -Shots are more likely to go in if you are set and standing at the begining of the shot. -Shots taken from the front of the basket are more likely to go in than shots taken from the side. -Make sure you are not standing behind the basket when taking a shot. Move out to at least a few feet in front of the basket. -Dunks are performed by holding down the shoot button while entering a complex series of Joypad moves. When you release the button your character will attempt their dunk. -The more complex a dunk move is to execute, the more difficult it is to block.(this will shut down all the cheap, button mashin', punchin', foul artist out there in multi-player ) -The dunks your character can perform are determined by his or her body type. There are five different player types: Women Overhand Slam- R Twister Spin- L,L Behind the Back- L,R Flip- D,U Spastic Spin- D,R,U White Guys Simple Slam- L Spin Flip- D,D Power Smash- R,D Behind the Back- L, D See Saw Spin- R,U,L Black Guys with Normal T-Shirt Leap Slam- L Hanging Flip- R,R Overshoot- L,U Crab Cartwheel- U,L,D Roll Away- R,U,R Black Guys with Tank Tops Simple Dunk- D Sideways Dunk- L Two Handed Slam- U,U Under and In- D,U Rewind and Rotate- R,D,L Black Guys with a Tank Top over a T-Shirt Normal Slam- U Pivot Slam- R Splits- D,D Spiral Backflip- U,D Spin Slam- R,L I think the Jaguar Hints/Tips and cheat FAQ should be updated.

I never said that the Xbox will take the number two console spot in Japan. Compared to the PS2, the GC is a bust for Nintendo in Japan. Japan is a one console country my friend, where the PS2 is king. If you include the GBA as a console, then it is a two horse race in Japan. Just because the GBA is a hit, doesn't guarantee success for the GC. If that was true, then the Virtual Boy would still be around. Japanese weekly numbers for Feb. 17th to 23rd PS2: 46, 200 GC: 5,600 XB: 1,800 source: http://www.the-magicbox.com/topten.htm You'll also notice that there is only one GC game in the top 30 and it only sold around 9, 000 copies, everything else is PS2 and GBA.
