DOA3 has two new characters, Hitomi(look at my avatar) and Christie. Hitomi is from Germany and has a Japanese mother and German father. Hitomi is a Karate expert and her father is a Karate master and runs a dojo in Germany. Christi is an assassin who is a master of the She Quan style(praying mantis style). Christi was hired by DOATEC's Donovan to enter the tournament. Ein is also an unlockable character in DOA3. Ein was in DOA2 Hardcore for the PS2. Ein is really the ninja Hayate, Hayate lost his memory because of experiments that the evil DAOTEC corporation conducted on him. Tecmo is also releasing Dead or Alive: Code Kronus for the Xbox. Code Kronus will be like a Virtua Fighter Remix type game. Team Ninja said that they wanted to thank the fans of DOA3 for making it a million seller. Code Kronus is supposed to have characters, costumes, bosses and levels from all three DOA's and plenty of other surprises and extra's.

If you win in WMCJ, you keep on playing until you earn $5,000. You then use the $5k to enter the big tournament at the LA Forum(the LA Lakers old home). If you win that, then you get like 25 or 50 grand in prize money and you pay off your loan shark and keep the rest. I bought this game the day it came out, back in the day. Played it like mad for a couple of weeks and beat it numerous times.

A hard drive for one, spend your money on games, not memory cards. Halo 1&2, Project Gotham Racing 1&2, Dead or Alive 3, Ninja Gaiden, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Doom III, MechAssualt and Unreal Championship, just to name a few. You can also play Splinter Cell right now, not a watered down version in March or April of next year. The Xbos is also cool if you are into Euro/American style RPG's. The Xbox has many, many games that only appear on the Xbox, too many to list.

I'm in the same boat. I need to get a broadband connection. We should all get together and form a clan and show everyone what Atarians are made of!

Unreal Chapionship is great fun. It also doesn't hurt to see the cool Atari logo at the begining of the game. I know it isn't the real Atari, but I can still make believe and dream. I'm totaly addicted to the one player mode right now. My team is called, Atari Force. My team and I kick some major arse. Can't wait for some on-line play as soon as I get Xbox Live. A bunch of guys that I work with and I get together about once a month for some Lan Halo, it looks like we have found a new game for some lan fun, until Halo 2 anyways.

Wasn't Substation a first person 3D shooter, a low budget Doom clone? I think I tried it several years ago. But I wasn't that impressed, I had just seen Doom II on the PC and not suprisingly it was loads better than Substaion. ... Thanks for the info Han. Ya, I know Substation isn't going to be a Doom, Halo or Unreal or anything. I just thought the story of the game sounded really cool, something that I could get into. I also think it would be coold to play a FPS on a ST, just for kicks.

It is so hard to pick just three. Some of my favs: Pirates! Silent Service Battletech: The Cresent Hawk's Inception(fav rpg on the ST) Xenon 2 Obliterator Astro Marine Corp Another World Battlehawks 1942 I want to get an STe to try out Substation. Anyone play Substation, is it any good?

Dead or Alive 3 and Kasumi Ninja!

actually, the xbox PSO is only episode 1. episode 2 is GC exclusive. Actually, the Xbox version has Ep. I & II and has an extra playable character that the GC version does not. The Xbox version also supports voice communication and USB keyboard support, the GC version does not. With the GC version, you have to either use symbols, on-screen keyboard(very slow) or spend the extra cash for the keyboard/controller device, which isn't even out in the US yet, so you have to pay high import prices. The GC version also has some bugs, like not compatable with the broadband adapter and some cheater bugs. Sega has fixed these bugs, but because the GC does not have a harddrive, you have to send your old copy back to Sega to get the new bug free version. The advantage of the GC version, is that it has a couple of mini-games that can be downloaded onto your GBA via link cable, such as NiGhts Advance and a few others. Link to the Xbox version of PSO Ep. I & II: http://www.the-magicbox.com/game092002a.htm

generally, sega is 3rd party. however, some of their companies have chosen systems, to some extend. the sonic team has currently limited their development to nintendo platforms. Sonic Team is releasing Phantasy Star On-line Ep. I & II on the Xbox. Also, Sega is taking back control of all their teams, and they will decide which games go on which systems from now on. Sega didn't do too hot this past quarter, thus the change. Sonic Adventure II and Virtua Fighter 4 sold well, but could have been big time hits if they would have been multi-platform. It is looking like Sonic 3 will be on all three systems.

Since Sega GT 2002 and Jet Set Radio Future are now part of the new Xbox bundle, those games are priced at $29.99 now.

I don't think they included any games with the Lynx II... it was sort of a cost-cutting thing. I think they had deals where you would get a game or two with the system, but they weren't really pack-ins like we'd normally think of them. As for California Games, I guess they didn't make a lot of them once the Lynx II came out... Not to mention that there's a lot of people out there who like the game, and probably don't want to give it up --Zero My Lynx II came with California Games. It was the Lynx II Deluxe Package and came with California Games, AC Adapter, Lynx cable and carrying pouch. I also have another Lynx II deluxe package that came with six batteries instead of the AC Adapter. Most Lynx II's that were sold came with California Games in the black box. It wasn't until the Lynx was almost dead at retail, that Atari started to sell the Lynx II in the white boxes with other pack-in games. I only saw the white box Lynx II at places like Babbages and Electronics Boutique for a few months before Lynx products were taken off the shelves. Then you could only buy the Lynx and games dirrectly from Atari or Atari stores such as B&C, Toad Computers and others. I had to drive like an hour and a half to Toad Computers to pick-up the later Lynx releases from Atari, such as Battlezone 2000 and Missile Command/Asteroids. BTW, the above is for the US, the UK and Europe could have had different pack-in games.

I like all the ones that people have already mentioned, such as the Panzer games, Burning Rangers, VF2, Sega Rally and NiGhts. Ones that I like that don't get mentioned much and might be worth checking out. Wing Arms Iron Storm

I feel the Xbox does have the best games and more great games on the way, but that is me. The Xbox can be linked with a crossover cable if you just want to link two Xbox's together. You can also use just regular ethernet cables and a hub if you want, for two to four systems. If you want multi-player action and don't want to buy multiple Xbox's and multiple copies of the same game, there are better options. Most gaming cafes/Lan gaming centers have Xbox's these days. There are also numerous Xbox clans out there that you can join for multi-player action. Bungie's(makers of Halo) 7th Column is a great resourse for finding Xbox clans in your area. If you have broadband, then you can get Xbox Live starting november 15th. I'm with Chris Federico, specs be damned, good games are what's important. Xbox has good multi-player games in spades. Halo, MechAssualt, Unreal Championship, Ghost Recon, Counter Strike, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, SNK vs Capcom EO, Halo 2, Project Gotham Racing 2, Phantasy Star On-Line and many more.

The Raiden Project for Playstation = GOOD
AtariX replied to IceCold's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Forgot that the PS version of Raiden had that feature, very cool indeed, as long as your TV isn't too big. Love the Jaguar version of Raiden and it was released about a year and a half before the PS version. For all you Raiden and shooter junkies out there, if you import games, there are a couple of sequels, such as Raiden DX and Raiden Fighters. There is going to even be an Xbox version of Raiden DX, no word on a domestic release though. Might have to mod my Xbox, but Billy Gates wouldn't be happy if I did that. -
Like so many people have said before, it depends on what kind of games you like. If you like Nintendo games, go with the Gamecube. The Gamecube has the least amount of 3rd party support though. If you are into Japanese RPG's, the PS2 is the only way to go. Personally, I bought an Xbox and enjoy the games on the system. I was a happy Dreamcast owner and Sega Saturn fan and the Xbox seemed to be getting a lot of support from Sega. The Xbox is just like someone said, a Dreamcast 2, with Dreamcast sequels such as Project Gotham Racing, Jet Set Radio Future, Unreal Championship, Sega GT 2003, Sega sports, Dead or Alive 3, Crazy Taxi 3, Phantasy Star On-line, The House of the Dead 3 and Shenmue II. The Xbox is also the best deal right now. You get Sega GT 2k2, Jet Set Radio Future and the S-Controller, all for $199(at Target, you even get a free Madcatz controller). The hard drive is also great, you can spend your money on games, not memory cards. The Xbox will also have a strong FPS line-up. You have Halo(Game of the year in the US and UK) now and then later this year and next year you will be getting Ghost Recon, Unreal Championship, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Halo 2 and Doom III. The Xbox also has a strong line-up this Holiday season and early next year; with House of the Dead 3, Blinx, Unreal Championship, Ghost Recon, Toe Jam and Earl III, Shenmue II, MechAssualt, Splinter Cell, Metal Gear Solid Substance, Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Phantasy Star On-Line Ep. I&II, Brute Force, Crimson Skies and Ninja Gaiden.

Gunstar pretty much sumed it up. Some of the best Jaguar games are on the Jag CD. Battlemorph and Iron Soldier 2 are up there with the best of the best Jaguar games. My fav Jag CD games are Battlemorph, IS2, Blue Lightning, HS:UL and Highlander. You will need to buy the Memory Track cartridge to save your games. One MT is more than enough to save all your games.

LOL, I don't know what is up with those crappy screen shots on the game packs. The games look just like the NES version that you remember as a kid. I remember walking out of the store with my e-reader and a few games and then I looked at the back of the game packaging in my car and I was like, WTF, I've been ripped off! I was relieved when the games looked 10X better than the pics on the game packaging. Nintendo needs to fix that.

I have the GBA e-reader with all the games and find it a fun add-on for my GBA. Zero, I'm like you, I only want it for the games and could care less about the Animal Crossing and Pokemon stuff. Donkey Kong Jr, Pinball, Excitebike, Balloon Fight(Joust rip-off, but fun) and NES Tennis are the games available now. Donkey Kong, Mario Bros, Ice Climber, Urban Champion and NES Baseball are going to be released this year in the fourth quarter. The games are $4.99, but I have seen them on sale for $3.99. The e-Reader also comes with a game & watch game, Manhole. Nintendo has said that there will be more game & watch releases for the e-Reader, but have yet to confirm any titles. The g&w games are supposed to retail for $1.99. The cards are of nice quality and the instructions for the games are on the back of the cards, which is cool. I store my cards in plastic sheets, in a 3-ring binder, just like sports cards. Hopefully there will be 3rd party cards in the future. Classics from Midway, Sega, Atari and Williams would be cool. Maybe Midway could do some unlicensed NES cards under the Tengen label. I want Tengen Tetris!

Two whole minutes...can you give us an in-depth review? Sega GT is good, but not as good as Project Gotham Racing. The best game out of the two included in the new bundle is Jet Set Radio Future.

StanJr, where are you getting "its better to shoot someone than to get shot"? I'm looking at the ad you are referring to right now and nowhere does it say that. Also, where in my post did I say that killing people is funny? I said the ad made me laugh. If you have some kind of anti-gun or anti-video game violence agenda to promote, then just be up front and say so. Don't go around making stuff up to promote your agenda.
-
Ya, that 108,000 are the NPD numbers from August. I'm sure they are much higher by now. Hopefully this will mean a sequel for Jack Slate and Shadow. It would be nice if the sequel could use more of the graphical power of the Xbox.

I bought DTR the day of release. Great game and a blast to play(pun intended). DTR hit the US charts at #8 the month of its release and sold something like 108,000 copies. DTR is one of the better games on the Xbox, in my opinion. As for the ad, it makes me laugh and I think that is the intention of the ad. Can you honestly tell me that you think the intention of the advertiser is to promote “real violence”. LOL...come on. BTW...Namco is doing nothing wrong and thus they owe no debt to your kids or the public for a wrong doing. It is up to you, to decide if you want you or your kids to play the game. Thank goodness that we live in a free country, where we can think for ourselves. BTW, you are taking the ad way to literally. Have you seen the ad to The Thing? Oh my, it has two real humans holding guns pointed at each other, someone call Joe Liberman!

Cybermorph is great! It puts me right in that Zen like shooter state that I love being in. I was in shooter heaven back in December of 93', with Cybermorph and Raiden. Then in early 94', Tempest 2000....oh ya, baby!

Here you go for some hints: http://www.telegames.com/t2_hints.htm I finished Towers II just to finish the frikin' game. It bugs me when I own an unfinished game that I put a lot of time into. I think I owned the game for like three years before I finished the SOB. As for Highlander, that is one of my favorite Jag games and a joy from start to finish. Highlander is hard up until you get the sword. Master the timing of the "karate kid, crane" kick to take out Kortan's goons in your village. Find all the stuff you need in the village(check the bushes for extra food) and then exit out the back gate. Run like hell up the path and don't stop until you find the sword. Then seek revenge on all the bastards who did you wrong.
