  1. Thanks Dragon. That really helped. I found three thumb drives I could repurpose. I did a bunch of google searches before I posted the question and nothing came up. I couldn't even find the FAQ. The SIO2USB is a good product, but the guys who built it don't seem to know much about web design.

  2. Hello Bill

Your best bet would be to try and contact Thomas or Harry (the guys behind the SIO2USB interface). It seems that (the manufacturers of) most modern devices (like USB sticks) deviate from the standards each time they blink their eyes. IIRC Thomas and Harry have tested lots of USB sticks and should be able to give you a list of what works and what doesn't (although the list will never be complete).

    Sincerely

    Mathy

    Thanks. I'll contact them.

  3. I just go an email to upgrade the firmware of my SIO2USB. So I dug it up and did. Then I figured I should play with it since it was out. I have the USB stick that came with the unit and it works fine. So I decided to dedicate another small USB stick to it. But the SIO2USB tells me that every other USB stick I own is incombatable.

Anyone know what kind of USB stick I will work with this unit? What are the compatability issues with this thing?

    Any experts here?

  4. My family has 2 on account of the fact that one died and got fixed and we used the insurance loopholes to get a brand new one. However, now I want the black special-edition Wii, because it has Wii sports resort AND the motion plus, which I don't have :( .

If by insurance loopholes you mean insurance fraud, you may want to take down your post.

  5. DKONG3.zip

Has anyone else seen this version of Donkey Kong? I would highy recommend if you own a Cuttle Cart get this rom on your Cuttle Cart.

Would you be willing to post the version that works with the Cuttle Cart?

I would also be very interested in using the file with my CC3 :)

Here is that homebrew version of Donkey Kong for INTV. I'd be curios to hear from the Cuttle Cart owners (that end up using this rom) to see what their opinions of this game is.

I can't open the zip file. It says the zip file is invalid.

    any thoughts?

  6. I own a Cuttle Cart 3 and CC3 from Beeslife. I didn't realize that someone named Carl R. Mueller, Jr. created a version of Donkey Kong (DKINTY) which shows what Donkey Kong for the Intellivision could have looked like. I decided to download this rom and instead of playing it on an emulator I thought it would be cool to place it on my Cuttle Cart. I didn't realize what a task this would be as I had to convert the rom from .bin file to a .rom file. After converting it and placing it on my Cuttle Cart I was amazed as to how good this game is. If Donkey Kong would have been released by Coleco the way Carl designed it this would have been a big hit for Intv. I'm still amazed at the sound and graphics.

  7. I tried to sign on to XBox Live with my original XBox this week only to discover that Microsoft as discontinued service for original XBoxes. I was kinda surprised. Although I mostly use XBL with my 360, I occasionally like to go on line with some of my original games. Anyone else disappointed with Microsoft's decision?

  8. I just got a new PS3 and hooked it up wirelessly to my router. Once hooked up, it updated to the latest firmware. However since then, the wireless hasn't been working. New out of the box, it scanned for all wireless routers in the area and found about 5 of them. I chose mine and had it working in about five minutes. Since the update, it doesn't see a single wireless router, not even mine. I ran a cat-5 cable between the PS3 and my router and it works perfectly. So even though I don't need the wireless right now, I'm concerned that there's something wrong in the firmware and that when I need wireless I won't have it.

    Any thoughts?

  9. I think it is pretty damn cool you wrote for the show.

When I was in 7th grade, my mother would listen in the car when he was on WNBC 660. We only heard very little as she would turn it off in disgust most of the time. (Yet every ride home, he was back on again.) When I got my own car at 16, he was on K-Rock in the late 80's and I have been listening every morning since.

If I may pry, when were you with the show? Any good stories? Is Fred as cool as I think he is?

I appeared on the show several times when Howard was on WNBC in New York. I was one of the writers on his Fox late night pilot and I was also a writer on his animated show "Doomsday."

I liked Fred. He's very bright and talented.

  10. Good for you, we all have our opinions and I was just expressing mine. I assert that I think Howard Stern and his cohorts are just perverse radio shock jocks and really not funny.

    *poof - ignored*

Boy, I didn't expect that reaction at all. I guess you're allowed to express your opinion, but I'm not (even if I'm doing it tongue in cheek). Oh well.

  11. I just realized: There isn't a market for those games now, just as there wasn't a market demand for them at a much higher price just after the crash. It's the no-sale gift that keeps on giving!

I suspect that he raised the price from under a dollar to five dollars when he felt that everyone who was going to buy them cheap or in bulk had done so. At that point, he's rather sell one or two at five bucks than ten or twenty at fifty cents each. Fewer headaches.

Then he found a way to unload the lot for a quarter of a million dollars and thought that was a good idea.

  12. ...and still nothing redeeming comes from Howard Stern and his friends. Someone should hack it, make Howard tied to the pole and make the "midget" Custer and send him the screen caps

    GideonsDad

Having worked as a writer for Howard Stern and having appeared on his show several times, are you hurling that insult at me? :)

For the record, I think Sal's a jackass. But I have respect for everyone else on the show, both those I've worked with and those I haven't.

  13. So I got my Intellivision I and the controller does not respond when the wheel membrame circuit is touching, when I lift that part of the controller up the num pad works fine but when it is touching it makes to close of contact to the circuits or something. The second controller does not work at all but the game knows its pressing cause I can hear the clicking sound from the t.v. Is there any way to fix these, and if not, than how can I replace the circuits in them without buying other controllers that would cost almost as much as the system.

Also, where can you get a new pin connector for the system, Thank you

A few years back I tried to get information about manufacturing new inserts for the Intellivision controllers but I didn't get anywhere. I think that if they can be made cheaply enough they'll bring a lot of non working Intellivisions back to life. Until then, you gotta canabalize them from another system that's not working.
