  1. Does anyone here know anything about the PS2 Test System? It looks like the older style PS2 but it says TEST across the top. From what I understand, it was used to develop games for the PS2. I might be able to buy one and I'd like to know a little more about it before I shell out any money. Bill
  2. Well, mine just arrived yesterday and it looks like it'll be going back to be fixed. I don't have the technical skill to do it myself. Bill
  3. Unfortunately I seem to be having issues with mine as well. So far all the games that should load do, but a growing number of games (as I go through and test them) seem to be suffering from minor graphical corruption (like a piece of a tile). For example in Excitebike, the starting gates, the player sprite, and the temperature gauge all have graphical corruption even though the game runs properly. I've tried different CFs, different ROMs, and verified the header info. I've been posting to the nesdev thread as well. EDIT: Well a quick scan through the ROMs here with the latest GoodNES tells me that I need to get them cleaned up - more than I would have thought. Then we'll see I'm so Jealous. I'm still waiting for mine to arrive. I'm in the same state as RetroZone (California), so I thought it would get here quickly. On the same day that I ordered the PowerPack, I ordered a couple of things from ToToTek in Hong Kong. The stuff from Hong Kong arrived on Saturday and the PowerPack still isn't here. I can't even imagine how that's possible. Bill
  4. How do you play NES stuff on the DC? Thanks. But, that looks really really hard... Brett, After I responded to this thread I downloaded NesterDC SE to upgrade from the standard NesterDC v.6 that I'd been using for years. It was actually very very easy to do. The program does pretty much everything for you except burn the disc. It does, however, create a disc image that many CD burn programs can use. I was up and running in a half hour or less. And this SE version has so many cool features -- A visual menu based on the game screens or game boxes, built in Game Genie codes, extremely configurable controllers, game saves and more. Give it a try. What have you got to lose? Bill
  5. That is strange, I ordered within the first few minutes of it being available, and I haven't received shipping confirmation...maybe I'll check my spam folder. Same here, but I usually just dump my spam every day. I did get charged by Paypal almost immediately however. I got a shipping conformation as well. Unfortunately, the tracking number isn't showing me any progress beyond the package being ordered for shipment. My Compact Flash cards have already arrived, though. So, I'm ready to go as soon as the Power Pack gets here. Bill
  6. How do you play NES stuff on the DC? Use NesterDC. It's what I use (at least until my Power Pack arrives). Here's one download loacation for something called the NESter DC Special Edition. I haven't tried this particular one yet, but I'm sure you can google dozens of sites with the download and with detailed instructions on how to make it work. NESter DC SE Bill Looks like Phaxda beat me to the link by 2 minutes. Bill
  7. Boy, I'd love to get a compatabilty list based on game/rom title vs. based on the mapping. Although I've already ordered it and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be very happy with it so why worry? Bill
  8. So is it safe to assume that if I can play it on Nester DC it'll work on powerpack? Bill
  9. I saw the mapper compatibility chart on the product website. My question was what the hell does it all mean? It was way over my head. Any indication of what percentage of games will work? What percentage might work in the future? Bill
  10. I just ordered one to go with my Cuttle Cart 2, Cuttle Cart 3, Intellicart and Krokodile carts. I love playing games on the original hardware. I almost missed this, I thought the subject header "NES PowerPak" was a thread about power supplies. I skipped over it several times in the last couple of days and by chance checked it out today. I"m glad I did. Bill By the way, does anyone know what the mapper compatibility list is? How does it effect someone who isn't a developer and only wants the PowerPack to play existing games? Bill
  11. Thanks. I thought it would be easier to just replace the pots but it looks like cleaning them will be pretty easy. The link with the pictures makes it seem very straight forward. Bill
  12. When I worked with Sinbad he was an Amiga guy. I was an Atari ST guy and we'd often "fight it out." But an actor wouldn't have say over that kind of set dressing so it very well could have been an ST. It would've served him right if it were. Bill
  13. Is it possible to buy new potentiometers to repair Atari CX-30 paddle controllers? Best Electronics sells them for $5 each ($10 to repair twin paddles). But I was hoping to find "off the shelf" potentiometers that can be ordered in bulk off the internet that would get the job done for cheaper than $10 per set. Any ideas? Bill
  14. $2.59 shipped for 16MB is steep on a per MB level, but its the cheapest price I have seen for a microSD card. I picked up the $9.99 for 1GB unit from Frys. It came with free shipping, but I had to pay taxes. I paid $6.50 for four 16MB microSDs which comes to $1.62 each. Granted, that's not a great price per MB, but all the ROMs and menus and everything for the CC3 don't even come close to filling up 4MB (let alone 16MB) so I figured everything above that would just be wasted, anyway. So the comparison is really $1.62 vs $9.99 to serve the exact same function. Bill
  15. Here's an ebay link to a guy selling the 16mb microSD card that the Intellicart 3 uses. I just ordered 4 cards from him for a total with shipping of under $7.00. He has about 30 left. I'm not affiliated with him in any way but I thought the price was right and worth telling everyone about. 16mb MicroSD on Ebay When they arrive I'll confirm on this message thread that I got them. Hopefully my CC3 will arrive soon. I can't wait to play with it. Bill
  16. I would love to get a complete MMC image already fine tuned and working with all the games and the correct bank switching and doc files. Is there anyone who has created a complete CC2 package who is willing to post it somewhere? Bill Send me a PM with your email address and I will send you a ready to go MMC image. @ SS - www.yousendit.com works good for sending large files (up to 1gb) And the recipient doesn't need to accept the whole thing, they go to the yousendit site thru a link and download it from them. I am working on getting a host for this file since I am getting sick of uploading it for everyone Back in March 2005 when I first got my CC2, bjk7382 sent me an image of his MMC for me to use with my Cuttle Cart. I suspect that in the ensuing 2.5 years many people have tweaked their MMCs to include more ROMs, newer ROMs and maybe even better organized menus. Is there anyone out there who has a "state of the art" CC2 set up who'd be willing to upload it or email it to me so that I can once again be on the forefront of CC2 usage. Bill
  17. Thanks, that explains a lot. I'll check out that web page now. Bill
  18. I created a PSP\Game150 folder and now the PSP2600 game doesn't even show up on the in the memory stick menu under games. When the program was in the PSP\game folder it showed up in the memory stick menu (with a very nice picture of an Atari 2600). Then when I selected PSP2600 I got the message "The game cannot be started. The data is corrupt". I downloaded them again and the same thing happened. Bill
  19. If you're using the newer OE-A, etc. firmwares you probably need to put it in PSP\game150 There's a PSP\game folder but no PSP\game150 folder. Do I need to make the game150 folder? Also, how do I know what firmware version I have? Bill
  20. I can't seem to get this to work on my PSP. Every time I try to use it I'm told that the files have been corrupted. Any thoughts? Bill Yeah. what folder are you putting it in. PSP\GAME or PSP\GAME150 ..it makes a difference. I put it in PSP\game Bill
  21. I can't seem to get this to work on my PSP. Every time I try to use it I'm told that the files have been corrupted. Any thoughts? Bill
  22. That's just not true. If you were a kid in 1980 and your monthly allowance was 20 bucks you could go to a movie every weekend of the month for 3 bucks and still have 8 bucks left over. If you saved the 8 bucks every month you could buy an Atari cartridge at the end of 4 months. If you had that same 20 dollar allowance today, you could only go to the movies once a month for 12 bucks. You could then save the remaining 8 bucks. If you wanted to buy a PS3 game with that money you'd have to wait 9 months to do it. In 1980 you could buy fifty-seven 35 cent comic books per month with your 20 dollar allowance. In 2007 you could only buy six $2.99 comic books for the same 20 bucks. (And those 35 cent comic books had more pages of content than the comic books of today). So 20 bucks does not equal 20 bucks. Bill
  23. It goes the opposite way in if you want to figure out what something would have cost years ago. A $600 PS3 would have cost about $240 in 1980. The $500 Xbox 360 would have cost $200 and the PS3 game would have cost $28 instead of today's $70. Bill
