Are the days of the "cheepie" system over?
onemadbeastie replied to godslabrat's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Eh? I don't remember how the pricing changed on the various 3DO models that were released, but certainly I don't recall any cheap version of the NeoGeo! --Zero The cd based neo-geo came out at about half the price of the premium cartridge based system. The goldstar 3do($399) was also less than the original price of the panasonic 3do. The PS3 just got another price cut and is available for $399/40gb but not backwards compatible. I think the xbox 360 is soon to follow and at the moment don't see nintendo lowering the price on the wii. -
Are the days of the "cheepie" system over?
onemadbeastie replied to godslabrat's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Good point, just to piggy back on that also the neo-geo($649) and later the 3do($699) were ridiculously expensive at the time. As always years later they came out with cheaper versions. The days of the "cheepie" system are not over and as long as newer, faster, and/or more powerful systems are released, previous gen prices will fall. Until of course they become classics and then basic rules of economics come into play scarcity and demand can push prices back up. -
Name that system? (no picture)
onemadbeastie replied to onemadbeastie's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I want that too but not the one referring to ;( Thanks for the help so far - I am still trying to find a pic -

Hello, I have been looking for a mini-arcade type system of asteroids, only problem is I can not remember the name of the system. The cabinet / outside looks very similar to the Coleco mini-arcade systems seen here ----> http://www.miniarcade.com/coleco/pacman.htm but if I remember correctly it used vector graphics. It is not the Vectrex, it had the controller attached and I think the outside was light blue. Sorry wish I had more info. It seems like I've searched everywhere but have not been able to find any info. Any help is greatly appreciated!

another noob starting up 2600 collection wants advice
onemadbeastie replied to onemadbeastie's topic in Atari 2600
hehe brian makes some very good points - I really liked homers reason for having a players copy - I collect to play not to have it sit there collecting dust so if I really like playing a specific game I could see myself having a backup of that specific game. However like Brian & Pingvin said I think it would first depend on whether its an enjoyable game then price or value. Zip it, Brian...stop being so reasonable. You know how collectors hate rational people. :!: -
Hi, I (noob) just recently got into building up a 2600 collection and was just wondering what are some important reasons to get doubles? Not including those rare valuables - obviously want as many 10's as you can find. What do you do when you come across another game you already have for example combat, pass it up or snatch it up? why?
