  1. Uh oh.  Suddenly I have to run the air conditioning again. I've been holding out to try to save money but I'm going to have to use that blasted device that costs so much money to use.

      You sound like me LOL,

I fired up mine last week,  Had to do it....But then today is cold and wet,...I actually had to turn my heater back on this morning, and heat still costs way more than AC...

  2. Well, it looks like I may have time to rejoin my favorite hobby, unfortunately. I no longer have any parents to take care of. Strangely enough, it seemed like a chore at first, and now that I no longer have that responsibility, I miss it, and I feel empty. Hello AtariAge friends. (I know everybody goes through this, but I feel like complete shit)

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. Taking care of aging parents is difficult, thankless work.

It only works in the original status update. Links aren't clickable in replies to a status update. You could always make a new status update. Just make sure there is always a space before the link, and if you add text after the link, make sure there is a space between the link and the text.

  6. I hope our friends in other countries ARE SPARED FROM THE STUPID "MY PILLOW" ADS. I can't belive this conman can sell cheap-ass pillows for 10x what you can get a better one for from even Walmart!

A lot of people are freaked out when they see a man inside their medicine cabinet.

I got one as a present. Although it still takes me about 45 minutes to go to sleep, I find that I stay asleep longer and it hasn't gone flat the 2 years I've had it.

    4. JFD62780

      JFD62780

Funny thing was years ago I got two _firm_ pillows for my then-new mattress, and I later saw one of those infomercials.

Turns out that was the very 'secret' behind My Pillow as blabbed in plain sight by the creator!

EVEN BETTER, _THOSE_ pillows came from Walmart! XD

  7. Caring for elderly (and seeing them through death) is a tough thing. Just happened again. It doesn't help when other family members detect YOUR (not their's) responsibility and slack off because they know you'll take up the slack. I hate this stuff!

  8. Getting older and no longer having time for this hobby is a sad reality. I will offer some items for sale soon, when I can get time to test them and pack them. I will keep A8 and the really old stuff that I love.

I'm disabled, so I have nothing but free time, yet I still have trouble getting around to playing. One of my issues is the ever increasing arthritis in my thumbs.

  9. I want to apologize, once agin, to my fellow Atariage friends for being a problem. I also apolgize again to Albert, the other mods, and to Bill.

Not really- "buy our new Xbox! It'll be obsolete in a year!" I'd rather wait to see just what Scorpio is.

    3. Skippy B. Coyote

      Skippy B. Coyote

Nope. All my hype is directed towards the NX at this point, though the PS4 does have some very tempting looking exclusives.

    4. MrMaddog

      MrMaddog

4K does nothing for me since I only have a 1080p HDTV, so like I said in another thread...I'll get a (now cheaper) standard X1 model and next year trade it in towards a Scorpio if it's worth it for the improved graphics.

  13. For Sale: NES Powerpak, Everdrive MD, Super Everdrive, SIO2SD Micro for A8, Sdrive NUXX for A8, CFFA3000 for Apple II. See Marketplace threads! :)

Mega Everdrive $$$ and SD2SNES $$$ but never tried 'em yet.

  14. Really hot. 88°F @ 10:00am and 90% humidity so "feels like" temp appx 100°F. Air conditioning of course, but so expensive to run.

I won't comment about the temperatures here.

Its hot as Hades in the Lone Star state.....all month !

  15. I can't believe the Atari ST is ***30 years old*** now. Never went TTor Falcoln, but the *original* 520ST/1040ST were a great machines for the time, and exceptional bang-for-the-buck deals.

  16. Time for my ANNUAL WINDOWS RE-INSTALL. Thank God Acronis True Image Home makes it easy! Update and save again for next year!

      DeputyMoniker

Have you tried Clonezilla? It's extremely easy, fast, reliable, and free. You can use all the default settings and get a perfect copy (or restore) in the scenario you've described above, or geek out and dig into the features. No install. Booting into a Clonezilla Live CD (downloadable ISO) and using the default settings, you're creating a backup (or restoring) in seconds.

  17. I thought "The South" was warm. 5°F (-15°C) and 10°F (-12°C) last couple nights!

  18. COLECOVISION FLASHBACK and INTELLIVISION FLASHBACK now on sale $30/ea at Dollar General. Also $5 off purchase of $40/more coupon means BOTH for $55 instead of $80 regular price!

    1. wood_jl

      wood_jl

edit: $5 off $25 or more. Should have bought them separately for $25 each!

  19. GM (Gov't Motors) - recalls up, sales down. What do do? Raise car prices $5000 to $20000 - http://stocks.org/automobile/general-motors-nysegm-to-raise-car-prices/28064/ - simultaneously expand $3.6 BILLION into Mexico - http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/business/international/gm-plans-us-3-6b/1525532.html - worthy bailout!

    1. Mirage

      Mirage

That's GM India, and it's in Rupees, so it would be the equivalent of $80 to $320.

    2. BydoEmpire

      BydoEmpire

They already paid back the bridge loan a long time ago, so I'd say it probably was worthy. Still no intentions of buying a GM car any time soon, but that has nothing to do with the bailout.

    1. jaybird3rd

      jaybird3rd

It wouldn't surprise me. I've tried reading PHP code, but it always seems to be a hopelessly messy and headache-inducing soup of HTML and PHP. I realize that it's possible to write good code and bad code in any language, but even "good" PHP code is usually a mess.

  23. Great American Road Trip. Mine's done for the summer. Gee, AtariAge has been busy while I was gone! (Happy to not buy another tank of gas!)

Thanks, Ninja! New Yawk, save2600. CPUWIZ: that thread didn't come up in my 30 pages of "new!" (???) Thanks!!!

  24. Honk if you have more video games than you have time. How many years will it take to play them? Then why are you still looking at new systems?

    1. Ransom

      Ransom

I know. I'm in the same situation with books and DVDs. I'm buried in physical media. But when I retire, I'll be able to have fun for years at no cost, so it's all good.

    2. Rick Dangerous

      Rick Dangerous

It feels really good to get rid of stuff and "focus" your collection. I am sticking with Atari and Nintendo, two (once) great companies with excellent canons of work. I still won't have time to play all the games but my collection will fill a wall in my man cave and look beautiful

    3. DamonicFury

      DamonicFury

Slowly coming to the realization that I'll never have time to play all the games or read all the books I've collected. Won't be getting any next gen systems (until they get really, really cheap.)

  25. PISS OFF!! (just kidding! Been seeing that here lately. DO NOT "piss off." To do so would be unsanitary, unsightly, and possibly illegal. Use an appropriate and designated facility. And remember, "If you sprinkle while you tinkle, please be neat and wipe the seat."

    1. Rick Dangerous

      Rick Dangerous

It's better than being pissed on though..Am I right?!? (crickets...)
