  1. You also need a "Stadium Buddy" I believe the most often used technique is that one builds up so many extra ships that they can run at top speed to the john and relieve themself without really endangering their game. Seeing as how many arcade operators may not take kindly to someone visibly peeing into a crouch-mounted plastic container, adult diapers may sadly be another sensible option. Maybe they would be seen as cooler if the diapers had graphics from various popular games? "Relax and drop an Asteroid in your Atari Diapers!"
  2. I hope it's not too late for me to join... Although I might need to be connected to an IV to withstand sixteen hours of playing Defender with no break...
  3. That machine is hilarious! It's kind of freakish how the use of a billiard ball changes the physics up.
  4. Oh yes, poor Nintendo. With only 13 billion dollars in cash reserves, whatever will they do? Actually, due to legally-mandated disclosures, it's been revealed that Nintendo has spent over $700 million on R&D for the follow-up to the Wii, whatever form that takes. So no, they are certainly not standing still.
  5. A lot of non-classic gamers are shocked by how older games can be "such bastards", in that they are intent on killing the player ASAP, due to their arcade roots. I do get twisted enjoyment from watching non-classic gamers take a shot at some arcade Robotron level ten difficulty action... No relaxing ten minute cut scene for you!
  6. Apple recently announced that they would soon have a service where users could buy additional content for installed iPhone applications. So, a company such as the current Atari could sell you a Virtual VCS as the primary app, and then sell groups of carts for 99 cents.
  7. It looks like it was dug out of a garbage dump. It's pretty hard to think of any other common situations that could lead to that kind of damage (Shuttle launch pad? ). Wow.
  8. I was so hardcore into the Dreamcast that I bought the first Japan imported system for an embarrassing amount back in the day. I bought two games with it but we couldn't figure out how to play them because they were in Japanese! The system is awesome over all and does have some "clinkers", just like any other system, but there are a lot more playable games than bad ones. My personal favorite was Hydro Thunder, which just handles perfectly on the system ("YOU'RE CRAZY!!!"). House of The Dead 2 is also a lot of fun, with the light gun, ofcourse. BTW- Avoid "Slave Zero". What a horrible excuse for a game...
  9. I was just always mystified as to what kind of game has you shooting a giant gorilla in the crotch with bug spray? Is this someone's maladapted fantasy? It's really not that surprising when you realize the Japanese have an arcade game where the controls have you jamming a plastic finger into an artifical ass..
  10. Raising prices on anything in this economy is NOT wise...
  11. Spotted today- They have become the worthless lint of thrift stores everywhere...
  12. I have to throw in my vote for the Saturn as well. Try and get a gun for it as there are some fun shooting games. The battery can be a bit of a pain, at least in my experience.
  13. I have no talent or accomplishments and an endless stream of service robots catering to my every need, making me stunning new content immediately, on request is exactly what I want. Since you appear to be one of the people who can create grand things of true worth, how about making those service robots? I won't understand the amount of skill, effort and dedication involved, but don't let that discourage you. I just want my robots and I want them right now, so get to work! Yes, I will now make an endless horde of robots with you in mind... but when they arrive... it will be quite clear they're not there to create content for you.
  14. I encounter so many unappreciative dopes in this world that I wonder what could have lead them to this point. An endless stream of service robots or slaves catering to their every need, making them new stunning new content immediately, on request? The one thing in common that all of the people I've dealt with that have this attitude possess, is a lack of talent and accomplishment. It seems it's a lot easier to criticize everything when you've done nothing and don't understand the amount of skill, effort and dedication involved in achieving something of true worth.
  15. You don't even know how it works, and you say it's impossible. Here's a shocker, they are running this game on a set of servers hundreds of miles away. And every reputable news source is saying it "surprised them" in how well it looked and worked. You're NOT trasmitting the exact video of the game to your tv. THAT WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE. You're sending compressed video that then uncompresses when it reaches you. What I'm trying to say is, it's kinda like getting a 60 mb file in winzip so it's only 2 mb, but you open it and it's 60 mb again. Except it's doing that really really fast, over and over a lot of times. I hope that makes sense. Again, why are people so negative on the idea of this? If this didn't work to the point where it was playable, the company wouldn't show it now because it would have killed the public's vibe of the product and all that work would be for not. The article said the reporter SAW the game being played but did not actually play it, so no comment on latency. I'm saying that the basic transmission time from you the player to the server, and then the video signal coming back to you, to which you then react, will impact the "feel" of gameplay, seriously. Anyone who's dealt with video conferencing, even on the most modern system, will realize what we're talking about here. If they can make this feel the same as playing an actual console in the same room as you, I will be TRULY amazed. It's a great idea but I think it will be riddled with serious problems.
  16. In the late 90s, my friends and I actually went to the effort of setting up two PlayStations with the link cable and two TVs for multi-player Doom. I found it a bit under whelming as that Quake was already out and I had a good level editor for that (Oh, Mac Quiver and what could have been...)
  17. My prediction is that it will work over the right connection but the latency will make it play like mush. Their claim of one millisecond is absolute BS. Impossible.
  18. I'm most concerned about their low-latency claims. It's a nice idea, but I fear current Internet connections are not 100% up to this. Btw- I would also like to throw in the Yen symbol-¥, simply because my phone can do it and I'll might never have a legitimate reason to use it.
  19. I would like to finally see the James Bond Octopussy game with train chase that we were promised so many years ago. Parker Bro devils...
  20. I've heard tale of an Atari office in New Jeresy where they never got word of the crash or what's happened to Atari, still going through every day like it's 1982...
  21. Now you can finally have your service to your platform or platforms during the terrible console wars of the late 80's/ 90's recognized with some of these wonderfully executed yet mystifying medals for 8, 16, and 32-bit vets. You can check out the whole series of bizarre medals HERE BTW- Where the hell is the medal for the Atari Jaguar battles? Some of us held out long past any point of reason.
  22. While I hate them, the SwordQuest series of games are horribly complicated and seemingly non-sensical to the point of possibly triggering a nervous breakdown. Space Shuttle wins IMO in terms of deserved complexity.
  23. Are there people who actually want to see another SwordQuest game which is like the others?
  24. I was going to say that you should just be a big boy and take your own dumps, but never mind.
