I want the world and i want it .................. NNNOOOWWW!
Rob Mitchell replied to BigWiger's topic in Atari 2600
You mean .. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory? Is the quote from "Back Door Man" by the Jim and the Doors ? I cannot remember which song that is from ... Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA -
Congratulations .. Every Atari game is great ! when they can be had for $1 apiece! You cannot play Oscar's Trash Can Race without the Keyboard Controllers ... Have Fun! Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA

Funny thing is Canyon Bomber was released in the Arcades! When I bought CB at Sears in 1979, I hated it so much that within one week I tried to return it to the store in exchange for another! The sales lady lectured me about returning used items to the store .. and whether anyone would like to buy a used item. I told her that I didn't think anyone would like to buy and use THAT item! She let me exchange it for another game .. which I cannot remember ... Weirdest game concept for me: Koolaid Man! Pretty weird! Trying to suck down as much Koolaid before getting zapped? What is this about? Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA

I think the Computer Chess proto is very interesting .. It looks to use the same Video Chess kernal .. but references the A-G 1-8 grid on every move. Nice! BTW: I picked up a talking Chessmaster electronic Chess set at a thrift about 2 weeks ago .. 99 cents! Nice! I should pit it against the Atari! Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA

Everything after 2600 Adventure is devo to me! Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA Adventure player since 1979?

Hi .. I deleted everything and then downloaded Playbin2.2 and the example files .. Now working ..! Ex3: Nice primitive target shoot. Tough! Ex4: Cool colors scroll on the screen. Ex5: Low res Life! Pretty good! Video Life is preferred! Now who will come up with other Magicard programs? Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA

Ding dong! There they are! Thanks for pointing me to the source! Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA

Suddenly I am into printing and laminating overlays .. Basic Programming .. and Magicard .. Does anyone know where scans of the Kid Controller and Video Touch Pad overlays are? Al/ Alex: Maybe these should be put in the database under the appropriate titles ... Also when I looked for all games that use the keyboards.. the kid controller games are not listed .. Shouldn't these controller database listings be crosslisted? Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA

I loaded Radial Pong up in the Cuttle Cart yesterday .. Paddles are a challenge .. but I got used to it .. I like it! You should implement Compass control for Joystick (Like Gyruss). Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA

This list of paddle games is more accurate as it is directly from the database. It has SCSIcide on it .. Plus watch for Marble Craze to come out soon. http://www.atariage.com/controller_page.ht...2&SystemID=2600 Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA

In anticipation of Marble Craze, I picked up one of those wooden tilt-a-marble through the maze things at a thrift today. I've gonna practice up! I'm still looking for the perfect Marble Craze controller box to mount two paddles at 90 degrees from eachother .. Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA

I fired up Shooting Gallery BIN on the Cuttle Cart today .. and tried out my new Inverter Circuit that I made to work with the Sega Light Phaser lightgun. Not accurate but very precise (did I say that correctly?) I have to aim slightly right of object to score a hit which I can do to clear out a screen. I also tried out the Atari Light Gun (XE) and it is totally off for this BIN ROM. Funny thing about that game: On the second screen when you are running out of bullets, you can shoot the big blocks at the bottom and get two extra shots credited to your total remaining shots .. but you are running out of time! Great game .. It kept me amused and focused for about an hour. Later I tried the Sentinel BIN which is not as fun as Shooting Gallery. I look forward to the new 2600 Light Gun game that I have heard a rumor about. I wonder if Thomas can convert Crossbow to a lightgun game? Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA

I'm having problems loading these sample programs up in the Cuttle Cart. I'm using Playbin v2.2. and it just chokes every time. All the other bins are loading fine. Anyone else having success? Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA

Well I spent the evening sorting ROMs on my hard drive: Keyboard, Paddle, Lightgun, Driving Controller with hacks. These games each got their own folders. Plus the new Magicard demos. Then Hacks, Protos, Moderns with WIPs, and finally Activision and other A-L, M-Z. Folders for each. Whew! Sure there is some overlap .. but this arrangement will work for me .. I still need to get a portable device for playing all these games into the Cuttle Cart. Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA

Well I'm ready to start construction of the circuit! I'm gonna look through my IC collection and see if I have a 74LS14 sitting around. I was typing code from the manual into the Cuttle/ Magicard emulation last night .. and having fun! It's great to see colors flash across the screen in 2600 glory! It doesn't take much to entertain me! I'm ready to laminate a printout of the overlays .. and punch/ cut the holes. Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA
-
Ack! So easy .. yet I spent so much time in the db doing downloads! Such is the punishment of owning a Cuttle Cart! Gotta try out every ROM! Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA
-
So how did it turn out? I'm gonna look up the 74LS14 and see about availability .. I have an idea to build the circuit into my 2600 and provide a RJ11 (telephone jack) as I/O. Then I can use a standard telephone cable to another RJ11 jack with two 1/8" phono plugs to the family computer for saving retrieving programs. I would like to take you up on your spare parts offer. Without any knowledge of the Core game (which is nonexistant BTW), OG and I came up with round pong .. which he programmed as Rounders on the Vectrex. BTW: Rounders is the first game ever to use the Atari Driving Controllers (not including Stell-a-Sketch which is not a game). Here's an idea for a variation: Gameplay is a round "pie" border in which the ball bounces. At 12 o'clock there is a section of pie missing over which the paddle moves to contain the bouncing, ricocheting ball. As gameplay progresses, sections of the pie disappear from the top making a greater arc over which the paddle travels to contain the ball. Over time the pie border (bottom arc) is smaller and smaller and arc of paddle travel gameplay is greater and greater to contain the ball. Score is how many hits with the paddle ... until a miss. another variation: Pie rotates slowly as pieces of pie disappear and the paddle has to contain the ball within the gap arc. speed up version ... What do you think? Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA

Have you ever felt as if the Atari joystick was lacking some
Rob Mitchell replied to General Atarian's topic in Atari 2600
Nice job .. I had one of those Wico sticks (new) in the early 80's .. I had planned to do something similar .. but I lost interest .. and I gave the stick away. Stupid of me ... Now I have the Starplex 5 button (arcade Asteroids style) controller (early 1980's) and it is awesome! I use it for many 2600, Bally Astrocade, and Vectrex games! Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA -
Scott: He still needs a tuner to convert to the Commodore Monitor AV inputs. The Atari video/audio modification will permit direct connection to the Commodore Monitor .. and delivers a superb picture. I have a standalone TV tuner I use for the Bally Astrocade and the Intellivision. Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA

Some of the early APF TV fun units make a B&W screen. The later models have color screens. Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA

The Cuttle Cart allows me to try out hacks .. The good ones like Thomas' controller hacks stay on my hard drive. The multiple hacks of Space Invaders have not stayed on my hard drive. I'm selective. Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA

I peaked out at 230 different original 2600 titles .. Now I have the Cuttle Cart .. and I guess I'm not as obsessed with more carts. Sure if I came across titles I don't yet have at a reasonable price, I'll pick them up. I had a chance to get HeMan cart for $5 at a flea .. but too much. I did pick up Thunderground in a trade some months ago. Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA

Ok ... Time to go to the redneck hardware store and see if I can find an old bag of dog food. Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA

Thomas .. You have better things to do .. like unearth undiscovered treasure inside Tutenkamen ROM for example! Did you receive my trans-atlantic letter? Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA
