ColecoVision Custom Smurf Controller * Boxed controller *
PAC-MAN PRIME replied to Yurkie's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
I am not a fan of the Smurfs, but between Yurkie's beautiful controller and the cool two tone carts, even I am tempted by this combo... I also regret being a newcomer to the CV after the Mario and Pac-Man controllers were long gone. Yurkie, do you have any new works in the pipeline? -
Cool video and congrats on getting the 7800. You're going to love it!

My favorite would have to be Atari black background picture labels, followed by Imagic picture and Activision, and then Atari silver labels followed by generally everything else.

WHEN WILL PEOPLE GET IT?
PAC-MAN PRIME replied to Coleco Gemini's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Man, so sorry to hear about this situation. I have had the same thing happen to me as well, and it was one of the most frustrating things. I'm still blown away at what complete imbeciles some people can be. Of course you're not being unreasonable. Maybe you should email him a link to this conversation so he can see how others feel about this type of poor service, then maybe he'll "get" who the unreasonable one is. -

ColecoVision - Mario Bros Revision.A - Rom Release?
PAC-MAN PRIME replied to retroillucid's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
Is the Mario Bros. rom that was included in AtariMax's CV Ultimate SD cart the revised version? Or has it been updated since the SD cart's release? -
New Pinballz Arcade in Austin - Looking for Full-Time Staff
PAC-MAN PRIME replied to Albert's topic in Arcade and Pinball
I took a brief weekend trip to Austin to visit some friends, and I just couldn't have left without dropping in at Pinballz to check it out and play some games. While I was there I had the pleasure of meeting Al in person, and even played his Tempest (though it kicked my tail a number of times, lol). If you're in the Austin, TX area you owe it to yourself to stop by and have some good ol' arcade fun. The place is awesome. MUCH bigger than I expected it to be, with tons of classics to play, both video and pinball. The world surely needs more places like this. Thanks again Al, and hope to come back soon! -
Thanks for the input, guys. I've read about the Jasper system in an Amazon review for the Elite Spring Bundle (with Forza 3 and Halo ODST). So the "Jasper" updated version is supposed to be mostly trouble-free? Is the Splinter Cell bundle with the Jasper update? Thanks again for the help.
-
Hey all, I am recently becoming interested in getting an XBOX 360 and was wondering if the later versions of the Elite (say, the Splinter Cell bundle set) still has the red ring of death or any other problems that plagued earlier versions. I like the over all design of the original 360 over the newer "sleeker" version, but I'd really like to avoid all those problems most of the first models had. Any and all input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Looks so awesome. I'm actually tempted to buy another 7800 in nicer condition so the combo looks uniform and new. Getting closer! The anticipation is getting intense!

dreaming again of a TRON arcade conversion...
PAC-MAN PRIME replied to lucifershalo's topic in Atari 7800
Yes! Why was it never done before? I would definitely be one of the first in line! ...and lol @ "Ron's disc throwing"! XD -
The marketer in me would suggest ignoring the technical stuff (cause not everyone knows what it is or what it can do) and focus on the benefits! Example: - Save your high scores! - More memory for more advanced games! - Adds fantastic arcade quality sound - Add additional peripherals to your 7800! I think Drac hit the target right here. The simpler wording is easily understood, while outlining exactly how consumers would benefit from adding the XM to their 7800. +1 You are very welcome Curt. Thank YOU for making this a reality!

Label?... Did somebody say... label? Oh, and the update looks even more awesome than the last! Getting more and more excited with every news bit! Thanks Curt!

Um, ok, now that's just plain awesome.

Metroid Prime vs Metroid: Other M
PAC-MAN PRIME replied to PAC-MAN PRIME's topic in Nintendo Wii / Wii U
I feel the same way about it. I like Other M, but to be totally honest, it feels like a step back from the Prime series. Still a fun game though. But I think the Prime series is better and actually truer to traditional Metroid in many aspects. -
Sweet, thanks for the replies! I will definitely be picking this up soon.
-
So now that Metroid: Other M has been out for some time, what is the verdict? Do you like the new game format better than Metroid Prime's first person adventure? Do you wish they would have stuck with the Metroid Prime game play? Do you love the Prime series, but are you glad the new game is something different and new?

Nintendo really is something special
PAC-MAN PRIME replied to Mendon's topic in Nintendo Wii / Wii U
The thing I love so much about Nintendo is the entire world of wonderful characters they've created. Even if the third party developers completely dropped support, Nintendo would survive on their own characters, properties, and merits alone. I believe that is something no one could argue. -
I just saw the red Wii for the first time in this Sunday's newspaper ads. It looks really cool, but I'm also wondering how cool it might have been if they did an NES styled Wii for SMB's 25th Anniversary instead.
-
This looks like it's definitely a must-buy for me. Awesome looking. Small question about the Gold controller bundle version... Does the game disk come in a standard Wii game case? Or is it in one of those crappy paper envelopes? Just something I was wondering.
-
Awesome! Thanks Curt! There were 3 when I logged in. I was surprised, but happy, to see there were any left. Just bought one. Now there are 2!

Personally, I think all that does is add busyness to the label, more work to create the label and a lot of people won't care or will get confused. My own opinion is that the label should do exactly one thing: tell me whether or not I need the expansion module to play the game on my 7800 at a glance.. How the game makes use of the features expansion module is up to the developers to share at their discretion on Atari-Age or in the manual but I don't think adding excess details to a label will do much except make the label hard to read. This sums up my thoughts exactly. I also don't think it's necessary to indicate each and every aspect of the XM is used in XM only games. If the developer wants to indicate it in the manual, I think that would be fine, but for the cart labels themselves, a standard XM label is all that is really necessary. No need to further clutter it up beyond the typical game title, artwork, controller usage and developer/publisher credits. Just my two bits.

Thanks guys, glad you like 'em. I'm having fun with these! Here's more of a mock-up, featuring my favorite of them all!!! EDIT: End label added.

Great ideas guys! Here are a few based on your suggestions.
