Tron collectors edition announced
PAC-MAN PRIME replied to xg4bx's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Yeah, at first I was thinking I really wanted this, but after a minute of logical thought, I agree it really isn't worth anywhere near that. Unless the cycle was diecast or something, but even still... Plus, I don't own a PS3 or XBOX. Only have a Wii right now, regarding current systems. I'll be all over that Tron Wii remote though. -
Nice work, Bob! Very cool intro and menu screen, and the clowns look great. Man, it's HARD! lol

What video game systems do you own? - READ BEFORE ANSWERING.
PAC-MAN PRIME replied to Rhindle The Red's topic in Poll Forum
Here are my systems so far as of today, in order of obtaining them (to the best of my memory). Atari 400 Atari 2600 (Vader) Atari 800 Atari 2600 (4-switch woody) Nintendo NES Gameboy (original) Super NES Sega Genesis Atari Jaguar SegaCD Sega 32X Nintendo N64 Sony Playstation 1 Sega Dreamcast GameBoy Advance Nintendo Game Cube GameBoy Advance SP Atari 7800 Atari XEGS Atari 5200 Atari Lynx Nintendo Wii I'm hoping to get a Jag CD very soon, and would really like to get a ColecoVision in the near future too. -
Was the Atari 2600 your first video game system?
PAC-MAN PRIME replied to Rhindle The Red's topic in Poll Forum
The 2600 was *almost* my first video game system. The first was an Atari 400, which we got in '82, but several months later we got the 2600. So I guess technically the 2600 was my first "Video Game" system, since the 400 was designed primarily as a computer, but it was was purchased solely for the purpose of playing the games and not once ever used for its computer features. -
Awesome! Yeah, I dl'ed the song too. Hopefully one day I'll have a nice gameroom, and I'll have the song featured on the jukebox playlist.

Sirius, Plutos and Rampart Prototypes Released! For Real!
PAC-MAN PRIME replied to Curt Vendel's topic in Atari 7800
Thanks CPUWIZ. I can't wait to get 'em! Well, yes they are pretty finished, and very enjoyable to play, but if some POKEY-powered background music and sound effects could possibly be added it would make them even better. That's all. I'd love it if Rampart could be finished though, since the proto-demo isn't really playable. It's one of my favorite games on the Lynx and I would love to have a playable cart for the 7800. -
Thread back from the dead. I was going to post a topic about this show, but a quick search proved there are already many discussions about it. This one seemed like it was as good as any to post in, so here we are. Anywho, I stumbled upon this site a few years ago, though I can't remember now how I did. I don't think the show aired in my area, so I had never seen it before. I really enjoy watching these episodes, as they're all new to me. There are a lot of games I honestly don't even remember back then, so it's awesome to discover them for the first time after all these years. One of them is Juno First, for example, which since I first saw it on Starcade has been made into a homebrew. Now it's one of my favorite 2600 games to play. When I first started watching these online, there were only around 15 episodes, but they've put up many more since. I'm still loving watching it and hope they continue to upload more episodes, and release more on DVD. One thing that stands out to me is the theme song. It's so '80s cheesy, but I can't help it getting stuck in my head, with those goofy bongo drums and all. So great. haha So what do more of y'all think of the show? Do you still enjoy watching it?

Sirius, Plutos and Rampart Prototypes Released! For Real!
PAC-MAN PRIME replied to Curt Vendel's topic in Atari 7800
In case CPUWIZ is busy, there are others here as well that can make these carts for you. Not sure the policy on asking for repro carts in the AA marketplace, but that may be a good place to start. Thanks for the tip, Austin! Nobody has directly asked for them to be done. Hi GroovyBee, please finish these games for the Atari 7800 Expansion Module. PS, please add music. Haha, yes GroovyBee, will you or any other 7800 programmer please finish these games for the Atari 7800 Expansion Module (with POKEY enhanced music please )? - Robby -
My Pac-Man Collectibles Shrine
PAC-MAN PRIME replied to save2600's topic in Show Us Your Collection!
Awesome Pac-Collection! I have been collecting Pac-related things periodically through the years too, but don't have a an actual "shrine" set up like that yet. Very cool. So what's your favorite version of Pac-Man? The two-legged, red-eyed one on the arcade cabinet? The Hanna-Barbera cartoon one? Etc? I am currently really liking the modern version of him, as featured in my avatar. -
Sirius, Plutos and Rampart Prototypes Released! For Real!
PAC-MAN PRIME replied to Curt Vendel's topic in Atari 7800
This is my first time hearing of these for the 7800. I just dl'ed and tried them and... WOW. Sirius and Plutos are amazing! If it hasn't been mentioned already, I really hope there are plans to complete these to play on the 78XM. If you are actually considering assembling and selling some of these, please mark me down for a copy of each. -
Who invented the joypad/gamepad
PAC-MAN PRIME replied to carmel_andrews's topic in Classic Console Discussion
This is something my younger brother and I were just discussing a few days ago. I personally consider the Intellivision controller the first version of it. Sure, it's wierd and awkward to use (I remember playing my cousin's INTV when we were kids, and never liking the controller), but it does serve the same function as the traditional D-pad. -
A few of my favorite 2600 homebrews include: Pac-Man Arcade Juno First Thrust Platinum Lady Bug Berzerk Voice Enhanced Halo 2600 Lead is pretty cool too I just ordered K.O. Cruiser because the demo video looks like a lot of fun, as well as Defender Arcade. So I'm looking forward to those arriving. Also I have Turbo that I ordered before the store's vacation, but I haven't had a chance to try it yet. Sadly, my consoles are currently not accessible.

Hi Chris,
Just wanted to say, Juno First is one of my favorite homebrews, and favorite games on the 2600. Thanks for all your awesome works!
-
Ah, ok. Thanks for the fast response.
-
Thanks Al, I've been looking forward to the re-opening with new goods! One quick question before I put my order together: Is Tempest going to be added as well? I was hoping to be able to get a boxed copy of that too. Thanks again!

7800 Piggyback Expansion Module comes to life!
PAC-MAN PRIME replied to Curt Vendel's topic in Atari 7800
The last Beef Drop demo is here. Sweet! Thanks Hamm! Going to try it right now. -
Wow, great review! And welcome to AA! I never knew that about their initial plans to put the games on cassette. Thank goodness they canned that idea!

7800 Piggyback Expansion Module comes to life!

Ah man, I have the non-POKEY cart of Beef Drop. Off to search the forum for an A78 file then. (Unless you have a link conveniently handy ) Thanks! -
7800 Piggyback Expansion Module comes to life!
PAC-MAN PRIME replied to Curt Vendel's topic in Atari 7800
One way the Module can be theoretically previewed right now is by trying the POKEY enhanced version of Pac-Man Collection via dl'ing the A78 file in the other thread in this forum. The improved sounds make worlds of a difference. Regarding the unit itself, will the casing plastic have the same texturing to match the 7800, or will it be smooth and glossy? I can't quite tell by the photo. -
Man... I'd be all over a handheld 2600. I wonder if it would be marketable if they did a handheld system in the Plug and Play fashion, but with a screen and 20 or so games built into it, but also have a slot on the back/top that would accept carts. Maybe it could have a jack to plug it to a TV via RCA cable like one of those handheld Famiclones. Couldn't it be possible to eventually release something like this as an update or replacement for the current Atari Plug and Play joystick? Personally, I think it would sell if it were kept in the $40 range, but I guess I'm just dreamin'. :-P On another note, that's a sweet avatar Heavy26R.

Excellent, thanks for the update! Please mark me down for an Option #2 full expansion unit. I will gladly pay upfront in full. How do I go about paying?

A tiny part of me has wept and died inside having read that.

NICE! Looks great to me!
