ah, I found a better way to desribe my joysticks, they are the Atari Joypad ones, listed on the 7800 hardware page on this site. Joy. But I have to wait until tomorrow for the cable.. sigh!!

I just went and ordered the cable. It'll cost half what I was expecting which is good. I found the Atari in a 2nd hand traders shop in Levin, New Zealand. I bargained the guy down from $35 to $15 (about $7US) seeing as I had to get a new cable. It doesn't have the classic joysticks, but 2 simple rectangle consoles with 2 red buttons and a mini joy stick at the other end. Games are asteriods, pacman, space invaders and some dodgy catridge with more games. I'm really keen to start collecting games and would love one of the stylee veneer atari's.

yay, thanks for that!! I just stumbled into all this, but can feel myself getting hooked. I gotta go out for a meeting in 20mins, but then I'm heading straight down to get the cable!! yay!

I found an Atari 2600 on the weekend, but it's lost it's power cable. I took it down to a sparky and he turned me away saying "find out the voltage etc". Can anyone tell me what i need to know?? I'm dying to play! cheers.
