  1. I need to test Valheim on it. Maybe Atari can get this randomly popular game released on the Atari store. It is already Linux native.
  2. Yeah, I bought two of these. They aren't quite as nice as my original one (like the plastic feels a tad cheaper) and one of them had an issue with one of the buttons, but like you said, an easy fix. They are definitely worth it.
  3. Not sure about Windows on it, but it runs Linux quite well.
  4. The alt story had it that WDC couldn't produce enough chips at the higher clock speed. sadly, they never did release the 65832 chip, that would have been a 32bit cpu fully compatible with the 6502. Would have been an interesting alternate universe where Apple was the only company that didn't screw over their users by forcing them to rebuy their library of software.
  5. Hey, I pirated all your things! Why do they not work, and why is my desktop covered in Furry sites now? All kidding aside, that is pretty funny there is an Everdrive pack out there with Jag roms, seeing as how they don't have a Jag cart yet.
  6. Yeah, I should find the post again, pretty sure it was on this forum that someone said the story about Jobs' killing off the IIGS wasn't accurate. I still wish the IIGS version of Bard's Tale Trilogy was finished. Apparently the third one was basically done before it got canceled.
  7. Yeah, there was someone somewhere that was saying that wasn't the case, as he wasn't with Apple at the time? But then it sounds exactly like something he'd do, so not sure what the truth is. I kind of favor the 'ego' causing it's death. It was, in general, a better system than the mac at the time it came out.
  8. It was too little too late, basically. The Amiga was the next big thing that developers went to. Had the C128 / 130XE been released in '84, maybe they would have gotten more developers on board. Kind of the same story with the IIGS, it came out after the black and white mac, was far better than it as well, and actually would allow people familiar with the Apple II develop awesome new things for it... but it was too late to the game, and Apple wanted to push the Mac and people having to re-buy software for the new platform.
  9. Yeah, both of my parents worked throughout the 80s. We mostly all scraped by. I'm pretty sure (though was too young to remember right) that we sold off all our 2600 games (the 2600 was won in a contest) that we'd bought over for a few years to get the 800xl+1050. I think it was later that we got the composite monitor for it. Early 90s were a bit better though, as we got a Mega STe with hard drive and monitor.
  10. Both of these came out in 1985, by which time the RGB monitors were standard with the 16bit machines... so how expensive were they?
  11. Thanks for the list! (Just bought a C128 off ebay). Yeah, unlike the 130XE, the C128 actually was a new machine with new capabilities. sure, some people may have just ran it in C64 mode, but with built in 80 column mode, some would have been using that, no? That would have been a killer feature for the 130XE. Also if we had gotten a 800/1200xl keyboard for the 130XE, it would have made a great / cheap word processor.
  12. Well it is a perfect storm of nonsense. Shit time to try to buy any components.
  13. Yeah, sorry, my 800 does indeed have a SCCC in it.
  14. In theory I should be able to do the same on my Incognito, right? (Not that I want to take it all apart again)
  15. Yeah. This thing is a mess. Like someone almost knew what they were doing, but were afraid to take a direct route and wanted instead to take the back roads...
  16. I like the idea of the Polymega, but the fact that it is just an emulator box makes it 'meh'
  17. Or you know it could be that issues have been fixed and the mad rush of hacking around with things has worn down. I have been too busy with work to even play anything lately.
  18. From my understanding the mylars don't actually go bad, you generally need to just lift and clean and remove the crappy spacer. I am trying to remember if I ended up needing to use my pens to redraw the circuits on one of them... But I would suggest, if you can, to go into the self test and look at the keyboard one. As you press on keys, try to roll yiur finger around on it and see if that helps create an initial connection. I know on the second one I have, I ended up doing that until all the keys worked. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PB69R7Y These are awesome for fixing mylar keyboards.
  19. Yeah, I kind of read this thread as how many games suffered to keep compatible with the 800. Ultima IV being one of them, dropping the music from the game.
  20. Yeah, I've been looking for 1702s... Really would like one to go with the 800. Considering modding the 400 to have composite out, but probably won't (it is a tad fuzzy on my TV).
  21. Yeah, I prefer hooking my Atari's up to my Commodore monitors I've been looking recently at getting one of that model as well... 1702?
  22. I do believe the disk version is for the 800 color scheme, the cart was for the XE era machines. Ah artifacting, seems to really just keep coming up, I've started many threads on it myself
  23. Every time I watch that movie, I think "I should quote this line more." I know there is a different system already called the Medusa, but this really is an Atari Medusa...
  24. Hahaha, I almost laughed out loud during a meeting, had to hurry up and mute my mic.
