  1. Yeah, I was sadden as he did suggest that he'd release polybius under Linux, but it hasn't popped up yet. I have tried it in PSVR, but haven't tried it under my Index or Vive's yet. Game is CRAZY! I initially played it on my 3D TV, and even there it's amazing.

  3. Writing a game has zero bearings on if you own the rights to it. He was contracted by Atari to do Tempest 2000.
  4. Wait.... so you are saying playing the same game on the VCS and a PC, the PC will somehow magically have better gameplay? I mean sure when your video card costs the same or more than the entire VCS (in some cases even after maxing out ram and sticking 1tb in it) than yes, you could say better video quality, but for most games (especially the target games of the VCS which are fun games instead of say Call of Duty.) The gameplay and video quality are fine on the VCS. You are pretty much reaching if you think otherwise.
  5. https://hardcoregamer.com/2017/08/08/atari-announces-llamasofts-tempest-4000/267356/ Guess it was an article like this that said they'd gotten things sorted to work together? I mean that'd be great if that were the case, though from everything I've read in various places, Tempest 2000 was pretty much the pinnacle of the series. I still want a Llamasoft Star Raiders, Llamasoft Breakout, Llamasoft .... Actually we can clone sheep, why can't we clone Jeff Minter? Pretty sure they're from the same DNA branch. Fluffy and full of baaaa
  6. For the record. I do think they did shady shit, I am just trying to play Devil's advocate! Like some of the images where it appeared the cables were going under the cabinet, while playing games on the TV. With the state that it was sent to backers with random things needing being wired vs wireless... feels like they really only started on the software side 6 months before sending it out...
  7. Yeah, the main difference is the VCS exists (at least for backers at the moment)
  8. Ha, that was a joke. We assume Rob Wyatt actually did any useful work for them. He was supposed to be working on some sort of sandbox mode, and as their 'lies' were pointed out was never a thing. So how much of that was his fault? Basically the showing of t4k to me was them needing to show 'something' and having nothing else to show, so plucked the new version one of their most successful titles on the Jag. But hadn't actually cleared it with Minter. So shit was flung from both sides. I just ate popcorn.
  9. Pretty sure Minter does not own the rights to Tempest. They also settled that. He mist likely only owns the code for the games. Tempest is one of the few games they do own that is worthy...
  10. Ha, nah, not paying someone for work is slavery, isn't? Wage theft would be more like if you got paid and your ex wife stole all your money. (Not a lawyer, but makes sense). We don't know thw full story there anyhow. Not defending anyone, but the dude from Tin Giant seemed like he was kind of crappy too. Like they didn't want to pay him for sick time for him wounding himself for skydiving. Yeah, got to say the T4k stuff was misrepresentation. Lying? Sure, call it that, but you can technically play it on the VCS (in alt OS). There was also some articles where they kissed and made up with Llamasoft as well. Though don't know if that means any ports will happen as they don't write stuff for Linux, even though Minter mentioned he would at some point. (Whether native to AtariOS or not, don't care, I would like to polybius in my Index under Linux). Ultimately, in my mind yes, they fucked up. Did some outlandishly stupid stuff. But let's be honest with ourselves. If we didn't pay such attention to the Chameleon and how everyone compared these two. No one would have harld such a critical eye on them. I did not follow the Chameleon, so probably thought most of their screw ups were doen to people not knowing what they were doing, more than any devious plot to screw people over.
  11. Ha, Lying was more stretching the truth (delayed release dates? Unless you are referring to something else.) Cheating? Whom? I got what I paid for. Stealing? Also not sure what they stole? Maybe this is all my fault for not following the 1000s of posts in the Atacobox thread?
  12. Ha, well I do not have the skills / means to make a custom board. But I am sure others on AA do. I want to know, since the VCS is trashed by so many on here, what it is they would have done differently. With all the open source software out there, why not make our own system? I figured an SBC would be easier and possible for me to make. I can draw pac-man on it or something ha.
  13. The plastics alone would be more than 50 bucks for a 5200 sized one.
  14. Ha, apparently not for some!
  15. Ha, from my understanding of 'Hipster', they are spoiled brats that think it's 'cool' to act like they're poor? So maybe they do hang out in Wal-Mart, but unlike this wonderful person, they do it because they think it's neat vs shopping there because Wal-Mart has killed off any other competition and they have to.
  16. Being in the states, we didn't know about no fancy SCART... But yeah that is why I suggested upscaling through the RetroTink vs my OSSC.
  17. Right? I mean if I can find a newer AMD board, make a VCS Pro System out of it... Community built AA system.
  18. If anything I was considering buying a different, maybe higher end SBC and putting in there, then seeing if I could get AtariOS running on it as a VCS Jr. (Just for shits and giggles). Would also be hilarious to build a better VCS than they did.
  19. Good question! The one I ended up getting was the Pioneer DVL-V888
  20. So due to a friend getting me the Star Wars trilogy on LaserDisc... I've ordered a LD player, and now am thinking I'm going to try it out on the RetroTink! It should be showing up tomorrow, so hopefully I'll have some time to hook it up and test it out and report back. Just because why not?
  21. Ha, I was going to set up my VCS for playing with the Atari800 emulator under Linux. Use the new 'classic' controller in 8bit games just seems to be natural for it.
  22. Been thinking I'd like to create a new case for the VCS (not one I'd print out for others, but for others to print for themselves, as it'd be a large chunk, and my printer is a bastard for those things). I'm thinking in the same style as the 'Pro Systems'. We could do alt bottom pieces, one with a memory door and one without. Just need to measure out the board, set up mounts for the internal piece, etc. I was also considering a larger version for sticking a USB Hub in the front so that we could have more USB ports in the front of the system (like a 4 port 5200). Also with the compartment in the back for the controllers (though that might be huge due to the shape / size of the controllers). Then we could get someone to make some awesome labels for it. Why is this an idea? Simple. To make it fit the rest of the family! To me, these are just pretty. If we really wanted to get crazy, someone could make a cartridge for the memory upgrade cases, and a ribbon that goes in and under the motherboard for easy swapping of memory modules... just to have a Cartridge on top. Or maybe small m.2 drives or something. What does everyone think?
  23. It's all over the net at this point. Piano184842 I think it's something like that, for some reason I can't seem to find it in searching the forums, unless it was removed? I know someone posted it to reddit.
  24. There is a video, but basicall have to do it through the bios. I found that with some of the changes I made, AtariOS would no longer boot.
  25. Ha, I am really thankful I have VR. I can escape into a different wold and shoot at aliens. Gets me out of the house without actually leaving.
