And people said I was aggressive and pissy. You don't actually have to buy an external drive, people have installed over AtariOS. You don't even need a Windows license, Linux is perfectly capable of doing word processing. Plus you didn't mention that before. Plus you can also do it through google docs. So yeah you can literally do all that through the Chrome browser. You could do that through AtariOS. Sorry, I thought you knew that too Besides Win10 should in theory be able to run with 6gb of ram. But yeah you don't need Windows for any of that, as you have Chrome / Google Docs.

Huh, a keyboard and mouse are a bunch of addons? Also, when did it become the AtariCube? This is a Cube, and it was made by Apple.
-
Oddly, you can do those out of the box on the VCS, fill in web forms, and browse the net and watch Netflix.
-
What do you mean? Those cheap ones at Walmart run Windows.
-
I would be surprised if Walmart didn't sell those 300 PCs. Especially in the day and age where kids have to do schooling at home. Also you know there will be some that are like 'Little Timmy keeps asking for some video games... this one says it comes with 100, let's get little Timmy this one...' not knowing of course they are 40 years old...

Ha, it is a ready to go box, for those that just want to fire it up and play games. But we are nerds and really if I could do the same thing to my PS4 pro, I would!

Apparently these latest updates have fixed pretty much everything that is OS level, like wifi and bluetooth is better, multiuser is added, sleep and being able to bring it back up has been fixed. So they definitely are fixing things up. As far as I am aware now the big thing is getting the store to suck less. Like add a cart so you can purchase multiple games at once, and the reciepts so they aren't broken. But that is all software / web design. As much as people like to trash it, it does look like they are not just doing a pump and dump. Will they ever create and sell something that people are strangely bitter over will actually buy? Probably not. Will they be able to sell to the people that just have to have all the game systems? Sure, they probably backed it anyhow. Will they sell to random people at Walmart? That really is the key question. If they don't pull an old Atari and actually market the thing, they just might. Honestly, with how it is packaged, and how it looks, if it gets much shelf space at all, it will probably sell. I remember once seeing the Ouya at Best Buy and wondered how well it sold next to the other game systems. I looked at the controller and thought it was kind of cheap feeling, so that was the only time I really saw it.

Prices all around have gone silly for computer hardware. Even my old 2080 RTX, I have seen places trying to sell them for 1400... non-Ti even...
-
This is basically what I have been trying to say, but no one listens to me. It is the same with 'I can just build a small computer myself with off the shelf parts' but haven't actually done the build to know it is Janky and doesn't quite fit right in a TV stand set up... hell look at the PS5. Even the pros can't do it apparently...

Ha, this always cracks me up when I do the same thing. 64gb of RAM... why? So I can play games on an 8bit emulator. Well, okay I have that in there because of some upgrade choices where I ended up with extra ram and just threw it in there.
-
You can clock it higher actually.
-
So hopefully we can get this? https://gamejolt.com/games/raymanredemption/340532
-
Ha, to be fair they did get something built and shipped to the backers. And they are even providing support and updates for the thing.
-
Ha, I have never bought a prebuilt desktop computer. My parents had bought a Packard Bell in '95, and I built a Pentium 200 MMX with all the parts I had ended up buying to upgrade that piece of crap. Been building them ever since. But for sure there is a nice divide between 'I can tweak all the settings and play with wacky amounts of controller configurations, go go PC Master Race!' vs 'I just want to be able to turn the thing on and play a game'
-
Ha, I already have too many Atari related projects that go unfinished.
-
Waiting for redditors to start trolling that one. I always wondered why Gamestop still existed. Now we know.

I want to know who keeps putting so much flammable material in dumpsters. SO many dumpster fires this year and last...
-
Well I would argue Atari is the dumpster fire and the VCS is a crack baby that someone pulled out in time and is nursing back to health.

Needs a stand off. There is basically just a screw hole there. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B086T2KXGQ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share If the gigabyte screw doesn't work.

if I were to price it, I would probably say 40-45. Quick opinion of it... Love how it sits in the hand, pretty close in comfort to the Switch Pro controller, which I think is one of the most comfortable controllers I have ever used. The analog sticks take some getting used to as the grip around the thumbs is both the best and worse. By that I mean that it has some really spikey grips, so sliding off is unlikely to happen, byt at the same time I think if they were bigger it would be better as my thumbs don't quite rest right in the 'cup', so end up getting some roughage. Triggers and shoulder buttons have good click to them, though the triggers lack the click bump for an alt button and are just analog. D-Pad is an interesting choice with a dimpled disc with bumps but it does remind me of the Sega Master system one. Easy to use just the four directions and diagonal, which I find most cross style ones lack. I would give it an 8.5 out of 10.

You do understand backer release vs general release, right? Also, Debian Potato got subsequent releases. 😛
-
Some of them are 'asshole' games. (Which is really what they mean by Souls-like). Like Dead Cells. But if it is designed well, I like the genre.
-
Replacing the card has been tricky as they don't include all the drivers your typical Linux distro supports.
-
So did you get two updates? I got one, and then a day later I got another one. I should set up an account with one of the CC places and use that on the store so I can buy more games ha.

It is only a benefit to Linux if the developers also release it for Linux though.
