  1. Oh, forgot the one first person flight simulator game (the name escapes me at the moment). It shows the guy climbing into the cockpit and giving thumbs up, I was always impressed by that game.

Sounds alot like Tomcat: The F-14 Fighter Simulator from Absolute Entertainment.

I loved it on the Atari 7800.

  2. Well, it's definately the system because my girlfriends copy of Super Mario World shows the same blank screen.

Though now I'm sure that it is definately the deck, most likely the connectors. When I jiggled the cart while the power was on, a jumpled pixelated screen came up briefly, and then went back to black. It did this twice. Seems to me that it's most likely the connector.

Thanks alot for the link, it was the one I needed. :)

  3. I got Mortal kombat II and NBA Jams. That was kind of nice, since I didn't know they were there when I went to pay for them. There was a note on the deck that said "Accessories in office" It had power, RF, 2 controllers, and the 2 games taped in a bundle.

I'm going to have my girlfriend bring over 1 of her SNES games to see if it's the system or the games I bought.

  4. I grabbed a SNES at Goodwill w/2 games for $15. I don't like post-NES Nintendo so I was going to either sell it on eBay or mothball it. It was listed "tested and working" but also had an "as-is" sticker.

I took it home and plugged it in, hooked it up and flicked it on. All I get is a blank screen. I cleaned the games and pulled off alot of black residue, and tried again. Same problem. If I turn the deck on w/out a game in, it's still a black screen just slightly different color. Hitting Reset makes it flicker and then go back to the black screen.

Any ideas what would cause this on a console? Is there an "easy" fix, or should I just junk it? There is a slight rattle inside when I shake it.

On a similar note, where can I get the security screw-driver to open the SNES?

  5. Ah,

So since I don't run around inflating my post count, posting multiple duplicate threads, and taking pot-shots at members my opinion doesn't matter?

If this forum, which I lurk daily but post very infrequently, is based on a system where respect is gained only by a little number in the tag of the post, you can keep it.

As for, "not knowing the story" why did you bother to post so many threads and complain as much if you didn't want people to know "the story." I've transacted on this board and know a little more than you've given me credit for.

It would be stupid of me to turn my back on (what I've seen as) a great place like this based on your single minded view. So until I start seeing other members posting similar rude remarks, I'm gonna stick around. mmmkay?

  6. I see it as one more option that is out there. It's a personal choice as to whether to use it, and you can never have too many options.

I browse often, buy rarely. I've got a rating of 12 (all positive) and I've been there for years.

  7. I would love the M*A*S*H manual. I'm a huge fan of the show and just got the cart from joshk last week. I'm going to check your site tonight and hopefully I'll see something you want. If not, would you let me buy it from you?

  8. It's easier to just throw it in a box and ship it, rather than dealing with dividing the lot up 5+ ways.

Granted, I would have liked to have gotten to this thread first, but I'm not angry with his reasoning.

What do you expect for free?

Your best course of action would be to offer the winner (in this case, gulag picture radio) a reasonable deal on one of the free systems he just recieved. From what I've seen my short time here, that seems to be the spirit of things. I personally don't have a working VCS right now either, and if I would have been first I would have offered one to you for the price of shipping based on the precidents I've seen others set here as I've been lurking. I'm speaking on my own behalf, however, and am no way saying that gulag picture radio is obligated to give you as much as the time of day.

    Happy Browsing.

  9. I picked one up on eBay last week for $16. I think I got a good deal. It came with:

    Alpine Skiing*

    Blockout!/Breakdown!*

    Cosmic Conflict

    Computer Golf!

    KC Munchkin!*

    Matchmaker!/Buzzword!/Logix!*

    Pick Axe Pete*

    Out Of This World!/

    Helicopter Rescue!

    Showdown in 2001AD Magnavox

    Thunderball*

    UFO*

    *= have manual.

The seller also (inadvertantly?) threw in an Atari VCS owners manual. Does this have anything more than novelty value? There was also some manuals for games that weren't part of the auction. I think I'm going to hold onto them and try to get the games. That seems better than trading away the manuals for a couple 2600 commons.

    I also picked up:

    Alien Invaders-Plus

    Speedway/Spin-out/Crypto-Logic

    Sub Chase/Armored Encounter

    from joshk for $4.50.

I really like the Odyssey2, too bad the VCS killed it. The membrane keyboard is really a great addition. The hardwired controllers are a bit of a drag, however.

  10. I have a 1960 (or 1961) Topps Mickey Mantle Card. It's #461, "Mantle Hits 42nd Homer for Crown" card. I bought it for $12 in Boston in the late 80's, last I looked it was worth $120+. I don't think I have any more cards other than that one anymore, and I never really thought about selling it.

I'd trade it for some gaming stuff, but it would have to be worth my while. I like the card, never really thought of it as $$$.
