  1. First score, an old favorite of mine, here are a couple of tips: -Try to ambush the robots as they come around a corner or past an opening. If you shoot them before they are fully aligned with you, you are at less risk of getting shot. -Even after a robot is hit, it can still get off a shot before its sprite disappears from the screen, so get out of the way after firing.
  2. If you are running XP, then you need to set the compatibility to 98 or older to get the old Hack-O-Matic to work. If I remember right, HOM][ is better though; it has more useful options like loading the ROM in an emulator or flipping the data. 855153[/snapback] Right, it works, but I can't make heads or tails of what I'm trying to hack. Is there any kind of tutorial out there somewhere?
  3. Didn't have much time when I played this one, so I'll play it again later. Here's my first score at any rate.
  4. One theory is when Activision acquired Imagic, they decided to rerelease the titles under their name instead of the Imagic label. As for the Activision logo, I've noticed that too in Atlantis and Demon Attack, and Moonsweeper as well.
  5. Well, a little better if I say so myself.
  6. Sweet, now all I need is to find the Atari 7800 cartridge template thing or whatever.
  7. Thanks man, I appreciate it. If I had PhotoShop, I'd try something like that myself, but I only have Paint. Still, one can always dream.
  8. Well, not bad for a first try I suppose...
  9. Ze_ro, I know you might have been in a rush, but here are some things to consider: -The game was released in 1983 by Atari. -You could put this for the intro text like you usually do: "Space, the swine-full frontier! These are the hogs of the starship Swinetrek: the ineffectual Link Hogthrob, the carefully manicured First Mate Piggy, and the inexplicable Dr. Julius Strangepork. Your mission: to protect the galaxy from the villainous Gonzo, because this week's game is Pigs in Space!" (sure I copied it from the box, but there's no intro in the manual.)
  10. Cruddy score, yes, but I figured I might as well give it my best, even though this is a difficult game.
  11. I saw the action pack once when I was very young, although I never really considered Othello an action game.
  12. If I had PhotoShop, I'd partake in this, but alas... At any rate, how do these sound for 7800 Labels: The Three Stooges Metal Gear Solid Dead or Alive Halo Resident Evil 2
  13. Wish I could find a decent thrift store like that in Boston...

    Asteroids

What exactly is Meteroids though? Is it a hack of Suicide Mission, or a homebrew? While I'm thinking of it, though, I'd have to say both the arcade and Atari 2600 versions are good in their own rights. The arcade had the unique control panel, as well as that deep bass sound that would get your heart going as you tried to fight off wave after wave of asteroids and UFOs. The Atari 2600 version sacrificed the vector graphics and could only handle one feature (either hyperwarp or shields) at a time depending on the variation, but there were quite a few ways to play, and the core gameplay element still remained, which was all that mattered.
  15. Pole Position, definitely. And the cartoon series wasn't bad.
  16. I desperately need a GameCrazy near me. Not to mention I'd kill for Alisia Dragoon (and El Viento!)
  17. Downloaded it tonight and tried running it, but nothing happened...?
  18. If only I could figure out how to use it better with other programs. Then I could start doing a bit more hacking myself. Or, I should say, learn to hack.
  19. Where did they come up with the idea for this game?
  20. You dare commit sacrilege against one of my all-time favorite games? May shots from Galaga ships strike you down!
  21. It's available on Activision Anthology for PS2 and PC, as well as Activision Classics for the original PlayStation. It was one of the games that was made right around the time of the crash, so it's very difficult to find.
  22. I have Jedi Arena (which I can't believe I chose over Pole Position back as a child!) and The Empire Strikes Back.
  23. The force is with Parker Brothers for making such a great port, but I still need to find the force, as this is a rather difficult game!
  24. Pole Position would have to be my favorite hands down, but there are other good ones too. In alphabetical order: Asteroids Battlezone Berzerk Commando Gravitar Jr. Pac-Man Kung-Fu Master (yes I liked it, so shoot me!) Millipede Missile Command Moon Patrol Mr. Do Phoenix Pole Position Q*Bert Space Invaders Wizard of Wor Xenophobe
