$50 bucks, $50 BUCKS!?! $50 BUCKS!? That ain't nice!

My Pole Position 2 works fine with a one-button joystick. Both buttons accelerate, and it's just as well, since any professional of the game will tell you that you don't need the brakes, just shift gears or let off the gas to slow down. And as for Asteroids, pulling back on the joystick makes me Hyperspace, while the fire button is fire.

High Score Club Week 23: Lock 'n' Chase

You made an error. This isn't a Starpath Supercharger game. The ROM is hosted here. -
Either that or just a composite drawing. The odds of a 2600 game looking like that are mighty slim. Although I do remember having a dream about playing a Choplifter! type game for the 2600 once. It was called something like 'Atari Matari.' (why such a weird name? Because dreams are handled by one side of the brain, while processing text is done on the other side. This is why when we're dreaming, text can look really weird!)

They're the little switches in front of your 7800 next to the joystick ports... Yeah, I know that, but which settings do I use?
-
Uh, so how do I set my difficulty switches so that Xevious uses seperate buttons?
-
Xevious is definitely the worst 7800 game. I mean, let's see how they messed up: #1 - Instead of using the ProLine joystick's seperate buttons to handle firing blasters and bombs individually, you fire both at once by pressing either button. What is this, a 2600 game?! #2 - While the graphics are good, they could've been a little better. #3 - The sounds seem a little out of proportion. All-in-all, it looks like they took the 2600 version, enhanced the graphics, and released it as a 7800 game.

I'm taking this week off, due to the fact I have a really bad head cold (long story.) See everyone next week.

OK, does anyone have some basic instructions on what to do?

Pole Position 2: With 16k of ROM space it could be possible. Then again, maybe not... Beamrider 2: More variety in the levels, and a continue feature would be nice. Enduro 2: Random weather patterns and improved physics. Moonsweeper 2: There are too many add-ons I could think of... Lock 'n' Chase 2: Random mazes, two player simultaneous gameplay, just to name a few.

From what I've heard, some copies of Robot Tank will work on certain 7800 consoles, and won't work on other consoles, and vice versa. My copy works fine. I've heard that The Activision Decathlon might not work on the 7800, but I haven't had a chance to test it out yet. Also, Kool-Aid Man might be incompatible as well. Also, some copies of Food Fight for the 7800 might have that problem too. Mine works fine, but just to be sure.

Where to find Alone in the Dark (original?)
Lauren Tyler posted a topic in Modern Console Discussion
I used to have it on a disc from PC Gamer awhile back that had 12 full games on it, but I lost that blasted disc. I don't want to go download illegal software, so I wanted to know if there's a place I can buy it, or if Infogrames would consider rereleasing it? -

They can be played, I've played one in a toy store, but the emulation isn't 100% perfect. -
Classic games at Canobe Lake Park
Lauren Tyler replied to bcprs1's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I remember the last time I was at Canobie Lake Park, I had brought a notepad with me so I could copy down all the qualifying lap times for the four tracks in Pole Position II, only to discover they had a Pole Position I cabinet in! -
As long as the Hang-On theme is still intact.

So maybe, I'm not out of action, but let's just say the mouse doesn't make exactly a good substitute for paddles! (Maybe this is why I never got a Supercharger? )

Great, looks like I might be sitting this one out!

Completed pre-Crash games released post-Crash
Lauren Tyler replied to Chris-in-NJ's topic in Atari 2600
If I recall correctly, Defender 2 was originally released under the name of Stargate when it was first put out in the arcades, as Eugene Jarvis and Larry DeMar had their own programming group called Vid Kidz, and so they wanted to release it under their own title. When the game was no longer being produced, they renamed it Defender 2 so Williams (now Midway) could retain the copyrights to the game. My guess is since Stargate came out pre-crash, then there was an Atari 2600 port of it made under that title. Post-crash, the game was renamed Defender 2, so when the game was rereleased, they had to rename it. I remember reading that the programmers had to create a new title screen for Defender 2. -
