Just out of curiosity, do you guys buy these as collectables, or do you actually get these to play?
They can be played, I've played one in a toy store, but the emulation isn't 100% perfect.

I remember the last time I was at Canobie Lake Park, I had brought a notepad with me so I could copy down all the qualifying lap times for the four tracks in Pole Position II, only to discover they had a Pole Position I cabinet in!

As long as the Hang-On theme is still intact.

Great, looks like I might be sitting this one out!

If I recall correctly, Defender 2 was originally released under the name of Stargate when it was first put out in the arcades, as Eugene Jarvis and Larry DeMar had their own programming group called Vid Kidz, and so they wanted to release it under their own title. When the game was no longer being produced, they renamed it Defender 2 so Williams (now Midway) could retain the copyrights to the game.
My guess is since Stargate came out pre-crash, then there was an Atari 2600 port of it made under that title. Post-crash, the game was renamed Defender 2, so when the game was rereleased, they had to rename it. I remember reading that the programmers had to create a new title screen for Defender 2.

12.0 for the 100-Yard Dash in Summer Games (Team USA)

If I have to go through all of the events, then scratch that one.

Here's my scores for Track & Field, for the first four events:
100 Meter Dash - 9:68 (11960)
Long Jump - 7.89 (9780 Event/21740 Total)
Javelin Throw - 85.61 (10620 Event/32360 Total)
110 Meter Hurdles - 13.40 (10600 Event/42960 Total)
Unfortunately, I blew it on the Hammer Throw

I'll get it only if they have the original Hang-On available for play!

While we're on the topic, does anyone remember the title of the episode where Chrissy (I think) asks Jack if he wants to make a wish, and he yells "NO!" I remember that episode vaguely, but I remember cracking up at it.That was the 2nd season episode called "Alone Together." It starts with this bit about Jack getting into this yoga position he can't get out of. When the girls help him stretch his legs, Janet says, "You wanna make a wish?" Jack sceams, "No!" and falls on the floor.
Thanks for the info. Don't suppose you know where I can find more information on that episode?

One interesting thing is Carol Shaw designed Video Checkers before going to Activision, while Alan Miller, one of the founders of Activision, did Checkers. So you could say they were both done by Activision programmers.

I thought they were either yellow or maybe golden-brown/orange, depending on the TV set you're using I guess.

Then I shall be the Team USA.

One more tip I got for my FAQ courtesy of Dimetric Houston:
-Your speed is increased on each moon, depending on the difficulty. When you're on the red moons, note that you can't decelerate at all, meaning you must be very careful when dodging towers and picking up miners.

Hey, I wrote an FAQ for this game awhile back, and I can give you these bits of advice:
-If you see a Satellite, fire a missile at it (pull back and press the button.) If you hit it, it's worth big points!
-Don't fire indiscriminately! For one thing, you can only have one shot on the screen at a time. More importantly, though, is the fact that miners can accidentally be shot, which gets you no points, but leaves you with a sour aftertaste in your mouth!

-The difficulty of each moon, from easiest to hardest, is as follows: Blue, Green, Yellow, and Red. Note that on the Blue moons, the accelerator rings, which are used to take off after rescuing six miners, appear in a straight line, while on other moons they appear in a random pattern.

It does look like they're playing without a cartridge in the Atari 2600, yeah.

Still, it seems the Atari popped up in the most unlikely places!

Where to find Alone in the Dark (original?)

I used to have it on a disc from PC Gamer awhile back that had 12 full games on it, but I lost that blasted disc. I don't want to go download illegal software, so I wanted to know if there's a place I can buy it, or if Infogrames would consider rereleasing it?
