Excellent news!

I agree with atari brian. Most of my 2600 homebrew games look better on the 7800. I guess it's because the shielding is better, or the electronics are more modern/stronger. The homebrews played on my 2600 have interference and aren't all that clear. But when I play them in the 7800, they are clear as a bell.
The down side to my 7800 is that the cart slot is not wide enough to fit Imagic games. And Imagic made some of the best 2600 games in my opinion. So to play Cosmic Ark, Dragonfire, Atlantis, Trick Shot, and Demon Attack, I have to use a 2600. The 7800 won't accomodate the Imagic games. I have read that 7800s made at a different times do have a slot wide enough. Mine was from a batch that was different. I also have read that some people cut the slots wider with knives, or deface the carts so they fit. I'm not willing to cut up the carts or the 7800.

I agree with the people who suggest a 4 switch woody. They are the most plentiful, and are very reliable.
I'd recommend a vader just as much if you can find one. It's very similar, and also quite reliable.
The others are good as well, but consider that the jrs tend to be cheap and flimsy(but nice and small), and the heavy 6ers usually cost a bit more(although they have a clearer picture signal, due to the heavy shielding). And 7800s work fine, but some cannot accomodate the width of an Imagic cart without modification. And Imagic makes quite a few of the best 2600 games in my opinion, so you'd have to deface the carts or the 7800 in order to fit them into the cartridge slot.

Are Sleepy and Sloopy on the same team? It might get confusing if they are.

One more-Canyon Climber. Do you have that one?
And what are you asking for In Search of the Most Amazing Thing, and for Adventure Creator? I can see those two clearly.
Thanks.

Hi. Thanks for posting this.
I think you'd get a bigger response if you posted a list of titles.
Can I ask about particular titles?
Do you have any of these for the Atari 8-bits: Star League Baseball, Floyd of the Jungle, Choplifter, Apple Panic, Pathfinder, Pharaoh's Curse, Journey to the Planets, Bandits, David's Midnight Magic, Space Eggs, or any titles by Synapse? I'd be interested in some or many of those.
Thanks for any info. You have a fantastic and huge collection.

Sorry for the confusion. I thought it was using my ip address to locate my house. It was simply showing downtown Chattanooga, which is where I happen to live.
Ooh, I took a picture of your house!

Mine's the house down in the valley. Right there on the right.

How do you view people's status posts now? I see you can click on the "last updated" under the current status post when viewing a profile (or look on the first forum page), but how do you see older ones, or ones that you commented on once upon a time?
While viewing a member's profile, click on "Profile Feed" on the left side of the page. You can then scroll down to the bottom and click "View All Updates" if you want to see all of a user's status updates.
..Al
Thanks!

I try to keep tabs on my high scores. I write them in a notebook when I remember. I have a list for the 2600 and for the 800. I'd like and use a pre-made score book. It would go well beside my notebook of manuals.

Pacific Coast Highway 30,100 (I love this one, especially in 2 player mode)
Beamrider 5,110 (the flashing makes me dizzy, so I may not be able to play this one much more)
Deteacher, how are you doing? Are you still up for assigning us team roles in kik-start and ballblazer? I'll go with what you decide. I'm not especially good at either of those, but I'll keep at it, as well as at the several I do have and have already played (River Raid, Pacific Coast Highway, Krazy Clown Jumper, possibly Beamrider)

Bump n Jump, Moon Patrol, and Desert Falcon are all quite impressive.

Is anyone else having speed issues still? The new forum is crawling at a snail's pace for me. I know that Albert posted that older Internet Explorer vesrions need upgrading. I'm using Firefox 3.6.23. Is a newer version recommended? Is there anything else I might be missing, as far as speeding up the forum software?
PS-I love the look of the new retro skin. And the Deflection theme is quite nice as well. Thanks Al for giving us options.

Ok, Schoolers!
How do we want to divide this thing up? I'm up for whatever. If you want to decide what races/games you want to play, I'll play whatever is left over.
Or, if you want, I'll just assign everything out (like the teacher I am.)
Let me know what works best for you guys and I'll put something together by tomorrow.

I'm up for anything, so please take over as the lead teacher and assign us roles. Remember, however, I only have some of the games: River Raid, Kik-Start, Beamrider, Crazy Clown Jumper, Ball Blazer, and Pacific Coast Highway.

PS-The Deflection theme looks great on my laptop, but I do look forward to the old Atari-Age theme that is coming soon.

Does anyone else find it a little un-nerving that the Google Earth picture in our profiles show exactly where we live? Is this necessary? Is there a way to adjust the settings?
-
I've been playing Crazy Clown Jumper, and my scores are emabarassing low. Especially compared to my fellow teacher. So I'll play some more and post later.
River Raid: 16,230 starting on first bridge and reaching the 11th.

Hi all,
As some of you on here are aware, I'm currently awaiting an operation on my spine so unfortunately I won't be able to take part in this team competition round (just my luck, I might have stood a chance with Deteacher on my side!
) Shame as well as there are some great games (and some of my faves) in the mix. If I do get chance to throw in a couple of scores for Deteachers team, will they be acceptable?I'll be back in the HSC rounds later on to try and make up for it though! Looks like I will be off work for quite a while afterwards so plenty of time to practice!
Cheers for now,
Dom
I hope you feel better soon. Sorry you had to go through that. See you in later HSC rounds.

I'm in if there's still room for me. I was away for a week, but now I'm back. I have a few of the games: Ball Blazer, Beam Rider, Crazy Clown Jumper, Pacific Coast Highway, and River Raid. I'm assuming Deteacher is a teacher, as am I. So maybe we could have a school or teaching related name? Is Deteacher our captain? I'll start playing and posting what I have on hand.
I like that! How about the "Teachers" or the "Schoolers"

Either works for me. Atariron and beamer might want to chime in. I like the Schoolers better, but both are good. I'll start with the smaller games as well.

Another round of pro Qix. With the toddler and the game being so difficult, I've only managed 38,493. My average seems to be around 7,000 though. Some games I can't get a few inches before being hit by the swirly bad guy and don't even make it past the first screen. And then I have a run of good luck and make it to the third or fourth screen. And of course there's those games that don't get completed at all
. I'll have to try the second joystick idea. I think it might work for now. He's (my toddler) a huge fan of pressing the button in any game, so shooters like Galaxian work quite well for him. And quite a fan of River Rat and Crazy Clown Jumper as well. -
Finally realized I had this one, Qix. Played three rounds which were periodically interrupted by my 2 year old pushing start and/or the power button.
Scored 19,045.
That's pro Qix
I should have put some labels on
Is Pro Qix alright to play for this HSC? What's the difference? Do I get paid a salary for playing? I sure hope so.

I must add the homebrews Oystron, Seawolf, Qb, Gun Fight, Reindeer Rescue, Flap Ping, Hunchy II, and the hack/hombrew Wolfenstein VCS-the next mission. All of them are awesome. I'm sure I'm forgetting some, there are so many wonderful homebrew games out there.

trbb,
please add my score to the chart for Beamrider (From Post 193).
Beamrider 5,110 (the flashing makes me dizzy, so I may not be able to play this one much more).
Thanks!
