HSC8 Bonus Round 10 - Poll "A"
littleman jack replied to therealbountybob's topic in 8-bit High Score Club
Arcade war or paddles? That is the question. -
HSC8 Bonus Round 10 - Poll "B"
littleman jack replied to therealbountybob's topic in 8-bit High Score Club
I'd vote for my own suggestion, prototypes, but it looks like there's little chance of that one going anywhere. So it's the one with the most games that I own--games that roadrunner can play well! -
I added Venture II to my post above. Venture II is a good one.

HSC8 Round 8: Games from 2011
littleman jack replied to therealbountybob's topic in 8-bit High Score Club
Space Invaders Game 1 (easy): 918 Game 12 (tough): 314, those pesky sideways shots! Deluxe Invaders Game 1 (standard): 3,690 Game 9 (there is no 12, 9 is the highest, and strangest): 2,900, those pesky splitting aliens! Congo Bongo level 3, screen 1 19,110 I lost a lot of lives on screen 2 due to the strange unpredictable control issues. So maybe all the complainers have a point. The 2600 version has no control issues. But I still like the 8-bit version. trbb, thanks for giving me this challenge. If any of these games do wind up in the HSC then I'll have to practice more and get higher scores, but with a nice little head start. However, I'd expect you and deteacher and several others to blow these scores away. -
HSC8 Bonus Round 10: Discussion
littleman jack replied to therealbountybob's topic in 8-bit High Score Club
How about a Prototype theme? Only games that were not officially released, such as IXION from last year's HSC, or Jr. Pac-Man, Super Pac-Man, and Crystal Castles which were never released officially as far as I know. Of course, I don't know much, so they might have all been released. But the proto theme idea could be used to include many good games that never were officially launched. -
Now fully functional, minty fresh, and symmetrical!

Swoops for the 2600, along with pizza, and a green Danelectro.

I've got two Dannys. A '59 reissue and and a '63 reissue. Also a vintage 1964 Silvertone 1482. I dig 'em.
-
Very nice. I've had two U-1 reissues, but sold them both. I've been looking at and thinking about one (a U-2 reissue) at Picker's Exchange recently, but someone bought it this past week. I'll have to act more quickly next time I see one in the wild.

Nice work! The 7800 controller idea has been tried by Video 61. If you look at their website you can see them, but I'm not sure if they are the same as Zylon's idea. Perhaps Zylon gave them the idea? Or maybe it was two great minds thinking alike. Or maybe I have no idea what I'm talking about. They do both use the 7800 controller as a starting point though.

Anyone else notice how the votes are staggered in descending order, at least today (May 18)?
-
They are all really good games. It's a difficult choice, but I'll go with Moon Patrol because I can get that one easily, and the only one I already have on hand(Aquatron) is so far behind it doesn't seem to stand a chance. All good games. Maybe some of these can come back up for a vote later.

HSC8 Round 8: Games from 2011
littleman jack replied to therealbountybob's topic in 8-bit High Score Club
So you like space invaders eh! 2pts for playing each game plus as follows: Atari Invaders was played in Season7-Round4 but thats fine. Bonus pts based on what you manage in the old table. Congo Bongo I have 45,970 Lv5 Screen1 listed as my best, so you can earn 1pt per level completed and another 3pts if you beat my score :!: Deluxe invaders I'll have one go and if you beat that score 1pt. [will edit this post] That should keep you busy Is Atari Invaders the same as Space Invaders by Atari? I thought one had shields and one didn't. Do they play the same otherwise? Thanks for the other info. I'll try to get busy with some attempts at the challenges and scores you posted on my 800! And one day I'll get an XL or XE and try the Gwobby games. -

HSC8 Round 8: Games from 2011
littleman jack replied to therealbountybob's topic in 8-bit High Score Club
I don't have any of these, nor a drive to connect the roms to the computer, so I'll play three that have not been played before in the 8-bit contests. Space Invaders (Atari's version, without the shields) Deluxe Invaders (Roklan) and everyone's target for worst game: Congo Bongo (which I actually like ). Hope these are okay. I'll start tonight. And finish by the end of this round, with game variations listed (I believe each of these has multiple variations, so I'll pick one for each version unless trbb has ideas for which versions I should take on). -
HSC8 Round 7: Joust (+Super Bunny & Space Eggs)
littleman jack replied to therealbountybob's topic in 8-bit High Score Club
on skilled 53,350 on expert 57,100 I don't know why I did better on the harder level. Perhaps because it was my fourth and last game? Or because I played more aggessively? This is one of my childhood favorites. My brother and I spent many hours on this one, and on the 2600 version in recent years. And on the 2600 Flap Ping homebrew. Great game. -

Hi Guys, liking the mini reviews Joust is much more fun in 2 player mode. I'll update the tables once littlemanjack has posted his score p.s. Hope you like the German version of Gwobby Strikes Back! in HSC Round 8 I apologize for the delay. We had a special event at work, and my son got sick. It's been hectic. But I promise to get a few games in tonight and I'll post my highest score. Everyone's well and everything's stable today. And we have phone, internet, and cable all restored to their pre-storm ways. -

Pac-Man 8k Wolfenstein VCS: The Next Misssion (hack of Venture, but so hacked it feels like a new game)

HSC8 Round 7: Joust (+Super Bunny & Space Eggs)
littleman jack replied to therealbountybob's topic in 8-bit High Score Club
Hello trbb, can I still post a score for this one? We had a horrible storm, tornadoes, and my whole neighborhood lost power, internet, cable, and phone for the week. Had a tree on the roof. Trees in the road. I just got electricity back at the beginning of this week. Still don't have internet, but have it at work. -
I love the game H.E.R.O. I just don't have a Facebook account. But if I did, I'd add positive ratings to its Facebook status. I'm sending positive thoughts right now. And I love the homebrews created by the original poster. Positive thoughts your way for Seawolf, Crazy Balloon, and Gunfight.

High Score Club 9.08 - Variety Pack 4
littleman jack replied to Ze_ro's topic in 2600 High Score Club
I just noticed that we have two weeks for this one. I might be able to pick up a copy of Megamania before then. There's three local places, so there's a chance. -
High Score Club 9.08 - Variety Pack 4
littleman jack replied to Ze_ro's topic in 2600 High Score Club
I love these games, or at least three of them. Great variety pack this week. Stampede 470 Jungle Hunt 16,990 Joust 34,800 Megamania N/A, I don't own it anymore. I traded it for another game. -
Has anyone noticed that the "my content" has reverted back to its old/new ways? It's not listing things recently posted again. Maybe it has a delay like a few weeks back?

Check out the prices at 4jays, or goatstore, or atariguide. They might be a good place to start. And Cebus, you overpaid big time.
