  1. I'd love for it to be a 6 or 4 switch woodie, with slightly sturdier joysticks and paddles that have the same appearance as the originals, rf and av outputs, more ram, a high score save feature (hard drive or sd cards?), and heavier shielding and heavily shielded cables and power supply. I'd pay $100-150 for it, and $20-30 for the games. That would be very, very sweet!
  2. ONly 3 things will survive the apocalypse... cockroaches Rats and this thread I heard that only two things would survive the apocalypse--cockroaches and Keith Richards.
  3. The Asteroids emulation is pretty terrible on the Flashback I. Most of the emulation is pretty bad, in fact. On all the games, there are issues with the colors, sounds, and movement. However, I did enjoy the Adventure and the Food Fight. They both play well and are pretty fun.
  4. This is a tough one. I go with Night Driver followed by Indy 500, followed by Enduro, followed by Pole Position, followed by Sprintmaster. Yikes.
  5. I play mine on a 20 something inch Samsung LCD with no problems. However, it does just fine on the old 13 inch crt tv as well.
  6. Here's another link that might help: http://my.execpc.com/~krieg/links/8bit.carts
  7. Canyon Climber is a really fun game. Shamus as well. And the Donkey Kong for the 400/800 is one of the best home versions of DK.
  8. Montezuma's Revenge and Adventure for the older titles. Wolfenstein VCS: The Next Mission for the newer.
  9. Why oh why must Pac-Man go against Star Castle this early? I love them both. Pac-Man, Bosconian, Ms. Pac-Man, Tempest, Joust, Pole Position, and Donkey Kong are some of my all time favorites!
  10. Thanks for the screen shots Al. They all look amazing.
  11. Journey to the Planets, just kidding AE seemed quite impressive way back when, and still today.
  12. Phoenix 15 minutes, Defender II 15 minutes, good times!
  13. Nice set up Metal Guy. Still, your XE inside a 1200XL case sounds like the best 8 bit set up you could possibly have. Thanks for posting your first 8 bit and your dad's awesome work.
  14. Hello! Here's one place to start: http://www.faqs.org/faqs/atari-8-bit/faq/ There were many games released for both, some for 32K and up, some for 48K and up, and later some that only worked with 64K and higher. Some games only worked on the 400/800 and some only on the XE/XLs. The FAQ may help with this. Remember, most 400s only had 16K, but some were upgraded. And then the Operating System for the XL and XE also made a difference for some games. Have fun with your 400! Most, if not all, of the early cartridges work fine on the 400 (the green ones).
  15. Charlie and Buster watching a squirrel in the upper left.
  16. Might you get this out on a cartridge? Any plans like that?
  17. I think the small size and the simplicity of the 2600 CX-40 controller make it the greatest.
  18. My favorite is Ms. Pac-Man, by far. I think there are a lot of other good ones though, such as Lady Bug, Galaxian, Frogger, Centipede, Phoenix, Pole Position, Spy Hunter, Donkey Kong, and Missile Command.
  19. I like the floating eggs as well. And I love the 5200/8-bit and 7800 versions as well. I think the work on Joust is one of the best jobs Atari did on all the systems. Most of the other arcade games had a good port on one or two of the systems, but not all three.
  20. Don't forget Nukey Shay's own Pac-Man 8k. That's my favorite. It retains the maze of the original VCS version, but it ramps it up with much better game play, colors, and intermissions.
  21. Tough choices, Moon Patrol Pole Position Crazy Climber Frenzy
  22. Crystal Castles by a hair, Ms. Pac-Man, Night Driver by another hair, and Tempest (but Out Run is great too).
  23. Pac-Man Star Castle Tapper Bosconian Pac-Man, Star Castle, and Bosconian are three of my all time favorites. Many hours and quarters spent on those three.
