The game looks great. Please count me in if you decide to sell carts. Also, I second the idea of seeing some of the other conversions made (Killer Bees, KC or KC's Crazy Chase, Smithereens, Pick Axe Pete). They would all be welcomed with excitement. Thanks for your excellent work.

I'd make the trip to Atlanta happily for an Atari or Retrogames event. Not too far from Tennessee. I've relatives in South Florida and could make it there as well every now and then. But I agree with the previous posts that Georgia might be more inviting for more people than South Florida, since you could draw people from all directions and southern states, whereas South Florida is kind of at the edge of the country. However, S. Fla. can draw people from all over Fla. and the Latin Americas. And a question for shadowdoggie: where do you buy Atari stuff in South Florida? Are there any retrogames shops down there? It seems like there would be, but I've never seen any.

I think that's intended. I believe you can only carry 4 items (or is it 5?) at a time, so that you have to plan which items to pick up and use in a certain sequence. The sword and the keys go away after you use them, so that frees up space to pick up treasure later.

The nice thing about these games (Guitar Hero and Rockband) is that they are introducing a lot of great older songs to young kids who would have never given the songs any time in the first place. So Page and White are turning away potential fans, which seems pretty unwise to me. Plus, as mentioned earlier in this thread, many kids take up the guitar or bass as a result of really enjoying the music they hear on these games. It seems Page and White really missed an opportunity to make money and be an inspiration to the next generation. Kind of sad.

My first 2600 was four switch, so I like the look of the 4 switch better. My second was a Vader, which I also like quite a lot. The six switch does seem to make things more convenient, but I like the look of the extra space on the four switch model. In addition, I have heard the six switch has a problem with barely, or even not, fitting later cartridges, such as red labels and Imagic carts due to their extra wideness, but I don't know if that is true since I've never owned a six switch VCS. I have heard, however, from many people who have six switchers that the extra shielding in the six switcher provides a much clearer, better picture than the light shielding in the later models. Again, I don't have any experience with a six switcher to know for sure. Any comments from those who own both?

I agree with the idea that if the TV is for Atari only, then I would go with a direct RF connector. If not, you either need the switchbox or must unhook it quite often.

I second both the thanks to the hombrew authors and artists (for great games and art) and the hope for a few posters of some of the art (that's a third, rather than a second ). Poster size art would be very nice.

I have similar issues with them. None of mine, except H.E.R.O. and Seaquest, work on the first try. Sometimes it takes several minutes before I can get them working. I'm going to try some of the tips above. I have cleaned them with rubbing alcohol, but have not yet given the eraser, sandpaper, or file a try. Yet.

Do you primarily buy your "modern" games new or used?
littleman jack replied to Rhindle The Red's topic in Poll Forum
Mostly used, because they are so expensive, and I'm pretty broke. -
I've picked up some nice sealed games from 4Jays and from Video 61. I believe Best Electronics has some as well. And then there's O'Shea as well. Just some ideas. There are probably others as well, Atari2600.com perhaps?

Evil Magician Returns (Adventure-type game)

This is a lot of fun. Are you planning on releasing this one and the Pirate7 game on cartridge by any chance? I think you'd have a lot of takers/buyers. I'd be one. Good adventures on the 2600 are hard to come by. -
Looks great. And nice Game Boy Player on the bottom for playing Activision Anthology and others.

Demon Attack and Megamania. Of course, I like Homerun. So go figure. Different strokes for different folks.

Which system do you like to play good ol' 2600 on?
littleman jack replied to Poopopyo's topic in Atari 2600
Vader is my 1st choice, Sears Video Arcade II 2nd. My 4 Switch Woodgrain has stopped working, while the Flashback II sits in the closet, and the PC emulator works well, but no proper joysticks at this time. I'd like another 4 switch woodgrain model. It reminds me of the original days spent sitting on the floor with Adventure, Combat, Pitfall!, Defender, Pac-Man and Donkey Kong. -
I liked the Imagic silver rainbow carts the best because they were so different and shiny. However, I like the durability and ease of storage of the Atari carts. I understand the Activision carts are nice for their stacking ability, but isn't anyone else aggravated by the fact that their labels get all spotted and that they take multiple inserts to work in their old age? Sometimes I have to fiddle with Pitfll! for 5 minutes before it will work. That never seems to be an issue with any other carts manufactured by the other companies. However, I do fiddle with the Activision games until they work because they are such great games, many of my favorites.

H.E.R.O. and Montezuma's Revenge both were eye openers for me. And they're still two of my favorites. -
Programming on Linux?
littleman jack replied to TriumphantVCS's topic in 2600 Programming For Newbies
I believe there is a version of BASIC called FreeBasic that is designed with Linux in mind. Pearl and Ruby are both excellent for programming on Linux. Ubuntu has Pearl and Ruby packages in the repositories (use Synaptic). -
Yes. I played Asteroids, Dodge Em, and Yar's Revenge.

littleman jack replied to keitaro's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Yep, that's the one--www.dosgames.com Lot's of good games are available there. You can really revive an old computer with those. I apologize for not giving the address. Thanks Impaler_26. -
If it works then that is a pretty good deal. I've seen them go for higher.

star castle home conversions

You can get the game XOLO for DOS from the dosgames website. It plays quite like Star Castle on a DOS machine, or in DOS mode on a Win-98 machine. -
