Just a question about the weather and gaming
littleman jack replied to 2600Warrior's topic in Atari 2600
I tend to play the sports games during the season of the sport. So right now I'm leaning towards Home Run, Pete Rose Baseball, Basketball and Hockey. But I play Hockey year round. This summer I'll probably play RS Volleyball a little more often. And I do play Holiday Qb and Reindeer Rescue more often during December and January. -
You can patrol the Chattanoogie area but anything between Scottsboro and Muscle Shoals is mine. Ya dig? Wp you got it Wp! Chattanoogie's a pretty good place to be a gamer. (and baseball fan). lmj

There's a secretary at my work who is a gamer. She is mostly a Nintendo fan (SNES her favorite), but she is fond of Jungle Hunt, Pitfall!, and Private Eye for the 2600. We had a Flashback 2 shootout once after work. And we traded high scores for awhile on the Activision Anthology for Game Boy Advance and for the Anthology version of Jungle Hunt for PC. It is nice to have someone to talk to about the old systems and games, plus the new ones in light of the old. There's another female worker who is fond of the N64, but she mostly now plays the tiny, free games on the PC. Plus, there is a woman who worked for Atari assembling the early 2600s, right after college. She has no interest in video games, however. And there is a guy who sold Sears Video Arcades and carts when he was in his college days. He also has no interest in video games either. So there are quite a few Atari connections where I work.

Both, but I agree with the last post (sandmountainslim) for the same reasons. I'd say the first if you must get only one, because the sounds are much better with very similar game play. And joining in with the holiday spirit, they're both available here in the Chattanooga area for $1.00 each, so if you can't find them cheap, let me know. I can send them to you as a summer gift. I'll be trolling the stores this summer with my spare change. Sometimes you find a gem or a more uncommon game around here for cheap, for a dollar. Two of the stores sell them for a dollar a pop, no matter the title. lmj

I'm also a fan of the game. I first played it on the Activision Anthology for PC, and then bought a 2600 cartridge off Ebay. It's quite fun, and as you said, the graphics are impressive.

Jawbreaker.

I have some that could be available. Are there any that you are looking for in particular?
-
I'd like another. The arcade only games sounds like a good one. Throw in games from different eras, including some odd or rare ones. Sounds fun.

I think all 800s were made in the USA, and most 400s. But I do have a 400 made overseas,Taiwan I think. I don't know about 800xl or 1200 models.

Are Congo Bongo and Centipede still available? What are you asking? Do I need to send a PM? Thanks!

I have cats, two boys and two girls. They surely add to my wife's, and my, quality of life.

I have a Sears Video Arcade II, which looks quite like a 7800 and it says made in the USA on the bottom. I thought that was strange, since the Video Arcade II is in a 7800 case and was probably made very late in Atari's first life. But there it is, made in the USA.

Anybody ever bought anything from these guys?
littleman jack replied to Tenorman's topic in Atari 7800
I've bought and traded with 4Jays and never had a problem. I prefered to order from them before the new website, because you could call them on the phone. But I've ordered through email and everything went just fine. I even traded some Game Cube items for 7800 items and O2 items. One place you can still call on the phone to order is Video 61. And he (Lance at Video 61) carries 7800 controllers. I've ordered joysticks and joypads from him, and all went very well there too. -
You picked some good ones to order. May I also suggest the 2600 homebrew Sea Wolf? It has spent more time in my 7800 than any 7800 games except Pac-Man Collection, Centipede, and Beef Drop. As mentioned above, the Atari Age store is loaded with excellent games, homebrews and hacks.

Pete Rose Baseball and the homebrew Sea Wolf are two of my favorites.

I'm definitely interested in buying manuals for many of my loose carts. If you post in the marketplace forum, I'd take a look.

Another round of support for M*A*S*H and Solar Fox. They're both fun. The first is better with two players, but it's a hoot either way when you get to the operation. Solar Fox really captures the feel of the arcade. Both good buys. Especially for low prices. I picked up M*A*S*H at a local flea market for $4.50. But I found Solar Fox at a GameSource in northern Georgia for $1.00. Sometimes I get lucky and they have other great titles for a dollar. It's worth the trip every so often.

I like the first one better because you can get into a rhythm. The second one can get tedious quickly. I do appreciate the size of Pitfall II, but I think it's more fun to get into a rapid rhythm in the first Pitfall and see if you can beat your high score. I've never finished either one, so maybe my mind would change if I did.

more votes for: Real Sports Volleyball Home Run (in short bits) Pete Rose Baseball Activision IceHockey Basketball (for the simplicity and the laughs) and a vote for Real Sports Football (with two players) and Bowling (with the curve ball, game 3?)

I like Phoenix because of the variety over Demon Attack and the freedom of movement over Megamania. But they are all fun. The little alien guy in the mother ship in Phoenix also cracks me up.

Have you ever bought a game just to complete a series?
littleman jack replied to Rhindle The Red's topic in Poll Forum
Yes, I bought all the Sonic games for the Genesis/Megadrive. But I spent little time playing most of them. Sonic 2 and Sonic Spinball ended up being my favorites. -
If you could have any arcade machine in your house...

Bosconian cocktail table, with a bunch of upright cabinets in second--Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Tempest, Joust, Asteroids. -
Texas Instruments TI-99 4A

I liked the keyboard quite a bit as well. It had a great feel to it. Here's a link to a bunch of screenshots of the games. http://www.videogamehouse.net/gamemain.html -
Texas Instruments TI-99 4A

Yes, Hunt the Wumpus and Parsec were great games. As was Shamus for the TI-99 4A. And the Atari made games for the computer were all excellent too. My uncle had one at the same time we had an Atari 800 at home. There are a bunch of websites out there for the computer, and one of them has a lot of screenshots which can bring back some great memories. I'll post the link if I can find it. -
There was a great version of this game for the Atari 800 called Pinhead. It was excellent. It used the joystick, however, and maybe the paddles. Some Atari 800 games seemed open to both kinds of controllers. I think Chicken by Synapse was also similar for the 800. But Pinhead was the exact same game as Kickman in the arcade. Great game. I'd love to get it for the 2600. And if Manuel does it, you know it will be good.
