The song in the homebrew Flap Ping has to be my all time favorite. It has a great beat. Makes me laugh and wiggle.
And I love the sound in Adventure, which someone mentioned above, when you slay a dragon with the sword (which sounds earily similar to the sounds in Pac-man when eating ghosts).
And the Tarzan-ish music in Pitfall when you grab a vine is quite fine.

I haven't played it since 1985 or 86,
but didn't Pathfinder scroll in all directions?
Or did it simply change rooms like Shamus?
I think it scrolled.

Solar Fox, Centipede, and Double Dunk are all excellent. Desert Falcon is pretty good too.
-
Adventure, Asteroids (by a hair, because you can save high scores), and Tempest.
-
Wolfenstein VCS, the next mission
is almost a completely different game from Venture.
It's quite good.

Adventure, and then all arcade (Galaga, Tempest, Asteroids).

I think my first few games were disk games: Pacific Coast Highway, Preppie II, Canyon Climber, Apple Panic, and Choplifter. I played those millions of times until we could afford more, which included Shamus, Bandits, David's Midnight Magic, and Star League Baseball
. We then (my brother and I) played those millions of times. -
My favorite back in the 8-bit days was Fortran. It seemed quite fast at the time. However, it's been years since I used it, so today I might pick another if I started Atari programming again.

Yea, there seems to be a limited amount of keys, which means that you can get stuck, and then you can only start over. It's like that with the sword as well. You can only use it on certain creatures. It's all trial and error, which makes it one of the most difficult 2600 games by far.

And only open one of the doors in the first room. Leave the other closed. Otherwise you've probably used up your keys too early. I always open the left door, however, a friend of mine always opens the right door.

Asteroids, Yar's, Tempest (by a centimeter), Kaboom!

Fast Eddie, Montezumas's Revenge, Hunchy II, Pitfall II, and Adventures of Tron are all possibly platformers that might appeal to a fan of Jet Set Willy.

Hello Thomas 3120,
I don't think any of the games you mentioned came out on the 2600.
However, games like them have. There is a Jetman game on the multicart (2005 Mini-Games Multicart I think) that was
released by the Atari Age Store.
Also, there are Miner 2049er and Miner 2049er II (which are similar to Bounty Bob Strikes Back, and are based on the prequel to Bounty Bob Strikes Back from the Atari 8-bit computers).
I'm not sure about Jet Set Willy. I'll have to look into that one. I've never seen it in the USA, but I do know
it appears regularly in Retro Gamer Magazine and maybe there are some games like it for the 2600.
I hope that helps some.

As Mitch said, you can call them at the phone number on their main page. I've ordered 2600, 8-bit, and 7800 stuff from them over the phone with no problems.

Ms. Pac-Man (by inches), Centipede, Asteroids, Yar's Revenge.

I don't think it's terrible.
But I also don't think it's great.
It's a bit of a challenge to stay alive for very long in single player mode. It could have been a lot better with some added options, such as the ones cousin vinnie suggested in his review, such as a variety of play fields (including slippery ice).
Al, cousin vinnie has some screen shots, and a review, at his panoramic froo froo page. That might be a good place to start since Atari Age links many of his reviews to the rarity pages on the Atari Age database.

Thanks for the link!

Mimo,
I'm with you. I'd love to see this dream come true. Is there any hope that this could be released for the 800 or 800XL?

Thanks rdea6 and LYNXGUY,
your posts helped a lot. Looks like I am not frying my 800 and 810, and all is well.
Thanks again.

I've been using a Sega Genesis 1 power adapter on my Sears Video Arcade II for about a year now, and all seems well. When I bought my system used, it came with a Mattel power supply rated at 16V. It worked, but I was worried that I might be cooking my system, so I tried the Geneis power supply.
I wish the original power supplies were easy to come by, but they're not.
The Genesis 1 power supplies are somewhat easy to find, and they fit, and they're rated at 10V. The Genesis 2 power supplies might also work. They look similar.
I wouldn't rule out buying a generic Radio Shack 9 or 10 volt supply either, and then buying the proper tip to go on it. I've done that for an old tape recorder, and it worked just fine as well. With that, it's just a matter of matching the right size tip, or end, to fit your machine. You can bring in your Atari(Sears) and they'll let you try the various tips.
All this seems to confirm what has been stated earlier in this thread. The VAII seems to accept any power source rated around 9V that will fit into the machine. I can't comment on the colors because I am color blind
But I'd try out a Genesis 1 power supply and see if that works for you.Good luck.

Hello,
I recently picked up an 800 and 810 and am wondering about the power supplies. I had the same set up many years ago when I was a kid, but unfortunately gave my originals away in 1997.
However, the ones I picked up work just fine. But the power supplies have me a bit perplexed, and I want to be sure that I'm not frying either the 800 or 810. What are the correct numbers that should be on the power supplies? The ones I just obained are both 9V, but the other numbers vary drastically. I don't remember my original power supplies being so different from each other. The both looked extremely similar, but these two are quite different from each other.
Does anyone know what my power supplies should be rated?
Thanks for any replies!

Has anyone else who has some of the magnets from the store checked out the cartridges in the systems on the magnet photos?
I was very happy to see SeaWolf on magnet #6 (Sears four switch), as that is one of my top 5 favorite 2600 games.
And I noticed that magnet #5 has Conquest of Mars in the Atari 4 switch woodie.
I can't figure out what the others have on them since the print is so small and kind of blurry, and my vision is prety terrible. Has anyone figured out all the games shown? Or does anyone just simply know what games were picked for the magnets?

Traded games with him for an 800. All went very well
He also hooked me up with an 810 and a Wico (ball) controller. Very nice!

I'm hoping, with you, for an 8-bit computer version of Adventure II. That game is fun.
