  1. I traded 2600 and 7800 carts with lucifershalo. It's great to do business with him. He replies quickly to messages, is very friendly, and sends everything quickly as well. A+ all the way.
  2. I always called them cartridges once I actually owned a 2600. I think this stems from having an 8-bit first (Atari 800) and distinguishing between cartridges, casettes, and disks. Before I got a 2600, I simply called them games for the 2600, and the three names (cart/cass/disk) for the A800 games.
  3. I've had success with Windex. It may be a bad idea, but dripping a bit of Windex under the buttons has revived two of my Genesis three button controllers.
  4. You might try sending him a PM. He has a very good reputation and is often on the forums, so sending a PM through the forums may be the best method of getting in touch. Also, I think his phone number is listed at the AtariMax site. You might try that too. It's worth a shot.
  5. Yes! Get it for Pac-Man Collection, Beef Drop, Choplifter, Centipede (one and two player team), Food Fight, Robotron, Joust, and Donkey Kong (DK with the sound turned down). Plus there are other homebrews now out, and yet to come.
  6. I have two of version 3. One has a lot of rust on the metal shielding underneath, but the other one is in pretty good shape. Both were the funky ones that didn't work, at first, with some of the homebrews, but now do work with all the homebrews. I've never seen any of the earlier versions. Hopefully, one day I will.
  7. Yes, most Activision titles look horrible because of the glue seeping through after a few years, but most still work. Sometimes you have to insert them several times before they work because the rom-chips are so thin that they don't always sit right. But after awhile you can get them to work. It usually takes me a few tries to get Pitfall working. I got H.E.R.O. off of ebay and Frostbite at a local game store, and they both look terrible, but both work fine. You could also try Atari Guide on the internet. They have a lot of titles, as does 4Jays on the internet. And some titles can be found at these two internet stores: video 61 or b & c computervisions (in addition to the stores everyone mentioned above). They're all good places with reliable records. Also, I think best electronics has some 2600 games (they have tons of 8-bit games). They're very good to deal with as well.
  8. I really like it, but I find the board with the movable lift to be almost impossible.
  9. Lode Runner Donkey Kong Star Raiders Pharoah's Curse Montezuma's Revenge Castle Wolfenstein Fort Apocalypse Defender Pooyan Pinhead Bandits Pac-Man Jumpman Joust and Star League Baseball are some of my favorites for the 8-bits. I really love Shamus too, but you need the translator, I think, to run it on an XL/XE.
  10. The Berzerk meets Adventure idea could borrow from the Atari 8-bit Shamus a little. Shamus certainly borrowed from Berzerk (and a little from Adventure with the keys). Just a thought. I don't know how much of Shamus is possible on the 2600.
  11. Just checked out your 2600 post. Zaxxon, Defender, Spy Hunter, and (as mentioned by peteym5 a few posts back) Pole Position are all very good on the 8-bits. And Frogger is quite good on the 8-bits (however, there may be two versions like on the 2600, by two different companies). The 8-bits have a ton of arcade inspired games, as well, that are really excellent (such as Miner 2049er, Preppie and Preppie 2, Pacific Coast Highway, Jawbreaker, and on and on). The 8-bits have a ton of arcade-like games that are just great. Check the posts for listings about game suggestions to newbies. The list of 8-bit games is much bigger than the 7800 and 5200 lists. And many of them are arcade inspired.
  12. I agree, Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Gyruss, and Joust are all excellent on the 8-bits, and Star Wars is quite bad. Also, Donkey Kong is really excellent (and it has all 4 screens). Maybe this has all been mentioned on the 2600 thread. I'll look for it. Good luck hunting for games.
  13. Wolfenstein VCS:The Next Mission Pac-Man Arcade Galaxian Arcade all excellent.
  14. When Infogrames made the FB2, did they have someone make a limited repro run of the various 2600 chips, or did they use modern chips and just modify them? I know when Maxon made their newest analog delay pedal for guitarists, they had a run of the original chips reproduced. But they also cost quite a lot to reproduce. The FB2 was realatively cheap, so it seems like the chips were probably something modern and pre-existing. Is there anyone out there who has modded FB2 units and 2600s and compared the chips (processor, graphics, sound)? Thanks for any replies.
  15. If you like Venture, there's Venture II (a hack in the Atari Age Store) which is a bit harder, but has only two levels like the original, and Wolfenstein VCS: The Next Mission (also in the store). Wolfenstein VCS: The Next Mission is pretty amazing. It takes Venture and ramps it up about 1,000 times. There's a gun and bullets to collect, plus a knife. There are extra lives to collect. There are many more levels than in Venture, plus there's an extra hidden level at the end that can be found/unlocked. They're all worth trying, but the Wolfenstein version is much more developed than the first two.
  16. Hello. You might try posting a similar post in the emulator section of atari age, and another in the computers section. A lot of people have discussed the asus computers in the computers forum and might be able to help. It's near the bottom of all the forums. Good luck. Plus, as the previous post said, you might try a different emulator that may work better with ubuntu linux.
  17. Thanks for the replies. I'm headed to Ft. Lauderdale, Hollywood, and Miami. I was told of a place called Game Time in Ft. Lauderdale, but I don't know if they carry vintage stuff. I may call them once I'm down there. They're located across from one of the public libraries, not far from the airport.
  18. Does anyone know if there are any classic game shops in South Florida? I'm taking a trip there this summer and hope to find a new source for games, if possible. Thanks for any replies. I got one in Classic Gaming General--look at pawn shops.
  19. Thanks. I'll look later this summer for any new info. Your ideas sound really good.
  20. Espire8, I think there is a demand. If you make another version with new mazes and get it into production, I'm pretty sure that people will buy it. Berzerk seems to be on a lot of Atari 2600 fans' top 10 lists.
  21. I played Zaxxon, Congo Bongo, and Bank Heist today. Most often, however, you'll find H.E.R.O., Ms. Pac-Man, Adventure, Pac-Man Arcade, Donkey Kong, Seawolf, or Centipede in my 2600.
  22. I'm headed to visit relatives in South Florida in about two weeks. I know they have tons of Game Stops and EB Games stores, but does anyone know of any stores in the Miami and Ft.Lauderdale areas that sell Atari, Sega, or Nintendo games/systems from before the Playstation II era? Thanks for any replies.
