  1. Thanks Al for updating the page. I recommend Pac-Man Arcade highly. If you can't make your own cartridge from Dobro's Pac-Man or Ebivision's, then this is the best it gets for 2600 (in my very biased opinion).
  2. Heads up. There's someone in the Wanted section of the Marketplace looking for a 7800.
  3. Montezuma's Revenge Bump n Jump Donkey Kong Zaxxon (not really Zaxxon, but a fun game if you don't think of it as Zaxxon) Mouse Trap Miner 2049er I and II Spy Hunter Frogger Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back Fast Eddie
  4. You can buy a 7800 version (same exact game, but tweaked to work only on the 7800 due to chip limitations) from Video 61. They have a website and a phone order line. And they sell it new, in a box, with a manual. I also have one to trade, but then I should post this on the marketplace page.
  5. You can still get one at Video 61, I think.
  6. My list has changed quite a bit. Some of the stuff is soon being sold on ebay by my friend Bruce. The rest of the list can be found on the newest post in this thread. Thanks for looking.
  7. Hello all, I'm looking for a 400 with 16k or an 800 with 48k.
  8. Al, I'd be happy to get one with a homebrew, or pay up to $5.00 for one by itself. I currently enjoy the one that came randomly with a holiday order several years ago, although my wife thinks it's geeky.
  9. Ebay Atari Age Game Source/Game Force in Ft. Oglethorpe, GA 4Jays online Video 61 online and phone and suddenly McKay Books in Chattanooga, TN. All good sources if you live in TN or GA. We used to have three local, non-chain, video game stores in Chattanooga, but unfortunately they could not stay in business due to the big chains and cutthroat landlords. But the places mentioned above are all really good ones currently still selling 2600 games to this area.
  10. Zaxxon Pac-Man Donkey Kong Slot Racers Home Run
  11. Try the website www.dosgames.com. I think they still have links, as well as champ-em-games website.
  12. I agree with godzilla joe, the maze in 2600 Pac-Man is what really brings it down the most. If it had a better maze, it might not be so bad. Also, the tunnels really should be on the side. And the collision detection in the corners is horrible. And the point system gives scores that are just way too low. But other than that . . . Actually, other than that, it's not terrible. It shouldn't be called Pac-Man though. It could have done alright as Atari Man, or VCS Muncher, or something similar. And then they could have put out a hacked Ms. Pac-Man (like Pac-Man Arcade) as the official VCS Pac-Man. And as for 2600 Donkey Kong, it was a terrible disappointment at the time, but now I admire the fact that it has good looking screens, the right proportions on screen one, and is actually fun. Too bad it didn't have more screens though. DK Jr. had three (although they were pretty emaciated looking).
  13. B & C Computervisions and Video 61 have a bunch of cartridges that will work on 16K machines. If you call the stores they should be able to tell you what will work and what won't. Or look on their webpages which have info telling some of the requirements to run certain games. Also, there's Andrew Krieg's "Cartridge List for Classic Atari 800/XL/XE Computers" at the address my.execpc.com/~krieg/links/8bit.carts. The list tells the requirements to run many of the carts.
  14. I'd buy a cartridge version for the 800, very happily!
  15. The 800 and 130xe seem to both be held in high esteem for their video quality. I like both better than any of the other 8 bits unmodified. But how does the 400's video quality compare to the 800? Is it the same? Does it have heavy shielding, like the 800? Thanks for any answers! I've never used a 400.
  16. Star Castle Bosconian Pooyan would all be nice. I think Pooyan is possible (there's a 2600 port), but the first two might be too much to do on the 7800. I've played a DOS version of Star Castle (Xolo), but never seen it, or Bosconian, on an 8-bit machine.
  17. I use some plastic tubs from Target. They are about 14 in. by 11 in. and are clear, but have blue removable tops. They have yellow handles on the blue tops. You can fit about 40 2600 carts per container, so I imagine you could fit about 50 8-bit cartridges. Two may be all you need, and they stack nicely.
  18. Hello, there are NO problems with Beef Drop, either version. Beef Drop works perfectly with 100% of 7800s. It was Pac-Man Collection that had issues, but only a few certain 7800s. However, as Al wrote in his response above, if you email him and send the cartridge back, he will tweek something and send you back a version that works. There are only a small number of 7800s that have problems with the cart, and after Al's input, the problems vanish. I think it has something to do with the way certain 7800's circuitry was wired, and differences in how those special 7800s read roms. But once the alterations are made, the problems vanish. Hopefully, the missing games will return in the near future. This is a great time to own a 7800, or 2600, with all the new games coming out of Atari Age.
  19. Atari 800 with the matching disk drive (the 810?). Also got Choplifter, Preppie, and Apple Panic the same day. Great fun!
  20. Yes, what is the graphical bug or glitch that these games have had? My Pac-Man Collection has graphical issues, but it is playable, and it is awesome. The graphical issues are: the ghosts are alway blurry, and the "Get Ready!" that apears at the beginning of each board is so blurry that it is unreadable. However, I do have one of the 7800s that couldn't run the game at all when it first came out. I sent mine back in, and Al sent me another cart that worked. And it is one of my favorite games, ever. It's really one of the best 7800 games of all time.
  21. Does anyone know what happened to the homebrews Asteroids Deluxe, Pac-Man Collection, & Space Duel in the store? Did they sell out, or get canned due to a stop order from Infogrames? Where'd they go? They were excellent games and made having a 7800 a lot nicer.
  22. Hello everyone. I was wondering, does anyone know if the homebrews --5200 Adventure II and 7800 Pac-Man Collection-- have ever been mentioned or planned for the Atari 8 bits? I'd love to fire these two up on an 800 or 130XE. Thanks. Littleman Jack
  23. Another vote for Star Castle (along the lines of the shareware DOS version known as XOLO). And could Bosconian be done on the 7800? I don't think it's been done on any home system before the PS1-Namco Museum. Or a nice version of Pooyan to rival the NES version?
