I'm sort of feeling like I pledged allegiance to the wrong Brotherhood LOL
-
Yeah, I occasionally run across something in the basement I didn't know I had. Usually it's a 2600 console. As I get more organized, it happens less often. Sometimes I'm like "I thought I sold that years ago!"

Anybody else a 'Collector' of the TI-99 4/A?
Mirage replied to schuwalker's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
Are you saying $40 for a TI-994/A? They usually can't be given away. I have one I've been trying to give away for literally a year. It has a couple keys that don't seem to work, but the machine itself works fine. No one seems to want the thing. -
New U.S. Mail Prices, Names, etc. FEB 2013
Mirage replied to wood_jl's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Yes, that's strange. For everything I've shipped in the past week, there has been a large difference in price though, so I'm not sure what the formula is other than everything I shipped was a much greater distance away than 500 miles. -
Has anyone ordered from liwer2006 since he added FedEx?
Mirage replied to bikeguychicago's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
And unfortunately, when I receive them, it will probably be past the claim and feedback time limits, so basically, it's probably a total loss if it's garbage or never arrives. According to what he posted, I should have them in the next couple weeks. -

Mirage replied to bikeguychicago's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
I recently paid $14 for first and $4 for each additional. Guess I overpaid. Oh wait, but then he was supposed to combine them all, but somehow ended up charging me the $14 twice instead of once. I sent him 2 messages about it, but never heard back, so not sure what to think of that. Haven't heard another thing, but he has the money so I have to assume (?) he's shipped. You guys have me worried about what I may receive condition-wise, especially if customs rips into them... would be totally wasted money. The prices were too good to not try though, since everyone else wanted significantly more for what I ordered. -

Not sure what you're talking about. For larger/heavier packages, there is a big difference in Priority/Standard price. Like this large item I'm going to hypothetically send to Brandon Walsh: -

Yes, advantages and disadvantages, exactly. An aside: I have a 17" MBP from 2009 with the built-in battery. I was skeptical at first, but haven't had any issues at all. And it's not like you can't get a new one if you need it, you just take it in. Again, a lot of angst about nothing. -

Yep, and that's all fine and good. Apple isn't for everyone just like Microsoft or Android isn't for everyone. To each their own. That's the beauty of a free market. Those of us who see all the beautiful things about Apple products, do, and who cares if someone else likes something else. I just hate when every third thread turns into anti-Apple angst (or anti-MS or anti-Android, or anti-whatever). Give me a break. I hate Microsoft (moreso their older products than their newer ones), but I don't go spouting off all my very good (for my needs/tastes) reasons for not liking their products at every half imagined opportunity. Boring as shit hearing all this crap over and over, blah blah blah... -

Exactly. Straw-man logic. Not worth debating that sort of thing. -

Instead of going back and forth pointlessly, I'm just going to say: duly noted that you don't like (or understand) Apple and their business model. -

Blah blah blah, abusive behavior blah blah blah, that's extremely dramatic. It's their business model that they chose for reasons that do make sense for them, and it works just fine for a heck of a lot of people. For those, such as yourself, who don't like that business model, there's plenty of other options, so go buy those. No one at all is hurt when there's other options and competition. Deal with it. -

How is it (or should it be) defined? Generations of video games? Or generations of programmable video games? If as video games in general, then I definitely think the early discrete-logic games should be first gen, and 2600/O2 etc as second gen. Then I would make 5200/ColecoVision/Vectrex as third, and 7800 along with NES as fourth. There definitely is some grey area though, and I can see where it could be debatable what gen is what.

I hadn't preordered an XM, but was planning to get one once out if there ends up being any available. That said, I think you need to do whatever makes you happy/comfortable/relaxed right now. If that happens to be XM work, great. If not, then take time with family, to just relax, watch old TV shows, whatever that happens to be. "Work" should be last unless that's what you really want to be doing now. No one wants anything for/from you except your long-term health, I'm sure of that! Feel better soon!!

MAME...dang, sure would like to use it, but...
Mirage replied to atarilovesyou's topic in Arcade and Pinball
I know, right? That's the gist of my real early posts too, like... WTF... it's the easiest thing ever. I have never ever read any instructions for MAME, it's so obvious to me how to use it. I guess it just depends on the particular person on what is obvious and what is not -
Storing video games in cold/humid weather
Mirage replied to Sargon's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Sounds like you don't have a basement? Or at least not a dry warm-ish one? I wouldn't store them outside/unheated at all, ever, no way, like everyone else said. There really isn't a spare closet or something you can put them in, so they can stay at your house? If not, in-laws might be the way to go, though I sure understand the hesitation there. -

Mirage replied to atarilovesyou's topic in Arcade and Pinball
I totally get all that. The squirrel is definitely being beaten now And if the one I had installed was in fact MAMEUI, I certainly would call it that, but it's not, it's MAME32. It's sort of like I wouldn't call an installation of Windows XP Windows 7... it's not... it's still Windows XP if that's what's installed. So, no thanks for the chastising on that. For recommending it to others, then sure, MAMEUI it is. :) (It is nice to know that if I do bother to upgrade, it's still the nice clean interface though, so thanks for showing that). I really don't have any interest in playing anything that isn't already installed and working in my version of MAME32 though, really! Think of my attitude like this... if I upgraded all the time, I'd be doing it quite frequently. I'll upgrade when I feel there's a good reason *for me* to, and there's just simply not. End of story. -
MAME...dang, sure would like to use it, but...
Mirage replied to atarilovesyou's topic in Arcade and Pinball
Yeah, I know, I've done that before. Been using computers for a little while now It's more of a motivation level thing. It's there, it works, it does exactly what I want it to, nothing less, nothing more... if there's really no issue, why even bother. You know, sort of like playing games on 30 year old computers and videogames to begin with -

Mirage replied to atarilovesyou's topic in Arcade and Pinball
Maybe, sometimes if it ain't broke, don't fix it is the best answer. I like the nice clean interface of the old one. Been using it forever, love it, it works. -

Well, I still run MAME32, so.... Yeah, I might upgrade on my computer soon though. -
Does the 1541 Ultimate II Support C128 autoboot?
Mirage replied to donjn's topic in Commodore 8-bit Computers
He's referring to any of the various utility cart images it comes with that normally, you'll have (one) enabled. Don't underestimate the power of the Ultimate. Seriously. -
If that's the sort of offers you're accepting, then I'll offer to take someone out and make it look like an accident. However, you have to send me the Jarts first for it to work.
