Well, there's this one with the vector graphics and you can use the driving controllers with it as well: http://www.atariage.com/store/index.php?ma...products_id=103 And the binary file and more info is available here: http://www.atariage.com/hack_page.html?Sys...ftwareHackID=43

Voted Video Pinball, but it admittedly may be nostalgia talking. Wasted many many hours on this as a kid, trying to nudge into the Fuji without tilting it.

Can someone please give me some info on my Sears Video Arcade Rev. A?
Mirage replied to mannyD's topic in Atari 2600
That was seriously a good deal. I have a Sears Heavy Sixer, but it's not boxed or that nice. The only other thing you may need to be aware of is that some carts (especially late Atari and some third-party) may fit quite snugly in that one, if it's anything like mine. They do all fit, but I started using a light-sixer to avoid having to push them in there so tightly. -
How do you store boxed games to keep them from getting damaged?
Mirage replied to tremoloman2006's topic in Atari 2600
I have all mine loosely packed in 18-gallon Rubbermaid totes like you can get for around $4-6 each at about any store on the planet. There's plenty of extra space in each one to avoid crushing, with the extra space loosely filled by clean paper fill (not newspapers, didn't want the newsprint rubbing off on them). I've moved them this way 1000 miles and back 1000 miles without being damaged (I had them in my car with nothing on top, not in a moving truck where they may be bumped around). I'm sure there is a better way, but even this has worked for me. -
New Atari 2600 collector here...need some advice
Mirage replied to classicgamingguy's topic in Atari 2600
Right... just store the empty box. Leave the cart out to play or display. I have an extra cart in most of my boxes, but that's mostly due to laziness (and it's just nuts... I really think it's indicative of hoarding, which I try to not do). -
New Atari 2600 collector here...need some advice
Mirage replied to classicgamingguy's topic in Atari 2600
It was pretty much impossible for me to start out buying CIB since I bought the majority of my collection "in the wild" in the '90's. BUT... now that I have well over 500 carts, I want a lot of the boxes. So, if I were to start today, I would buy a lot of game CIB. The reason being is that a lot of outlets have the commons CIB for not a lot more than loose. The way I'm doing it now, I get a lot of doubles when I buy the new CIB if I can't find just the box. The most common Atari-brand games you can get CIB for not a lot of $. Just be careful, if you're like me, once you get 10 or 20 of them, you'll start saying things like "oooooh, I'm already 10% of the way to complete Atari original release color boxes, I may as well just buy the rest"! As for keeping your games safe... get the little plastic storage bags. I'm sure you can get them other places, but they do have them on atariguide.com which is where I get mine. If you really are doing a "keep" cart and a "play" cart, keep the "keep" one in the plastic with a dessicant pack. But... I personally wouldn't do a "play" vs "keep" copy unless you get a particularly perfect cart you want to stay perfect. Otherwise, now that they're with a collector, you'll keep them nice. Just be very careful of them and they'll be fine. Of course, if you have kids playing with them, that advice may not be good! -
Can you post a pic of this? And do you have a matching sleezy ho Ms. Pac-Man hand puppet?

I'm 36. Recently, I've been realizing more and more often that people I tend to think of as "older", are actually about my age. I just started at a new job, so it's all people I didn't know before, so the effect is even more pronounced. Scary. And the newest console I own is a DreamCast. Anything newer than that hasn't been tempting enough, but I'd sure like to try out GTA IV!

Worship the Woodgrain in MP3 format | 4 Disks | 2pg Track List
Mirage replied to Mark Wolfe's topic in Atari 2600
It's the same. They changed the company name shortly after it was released. -
It would be cool if one were included free with each homebrew. Letting the buyer choose the ones they need (subject to availability). This would be further encouragement to buy more homebrews If you have tons left, I guess you could just sell them as sets or individually.

An ebay page? Holy crap! Couldn't be bothered taking a photo Okay, but what is it?

-- Two of the Game Centers (not Atari brand though), and both of them have the smoked lids... both are in great condition, just a few scuffs on the lid. I use them both. -- My complete set of Atari pencils (pictured on this site and AtariMania.com) - I think these must be quite rare. -- Raiders of the Lost Ark Tip Sheet and Solution Sheet.

I haven't seen much 2600-wise in the wild for a few years. Just a few commons here and there. The actual collecting part was so much more fun back then ('90s mostly), and that's how I got most of my collection. To fill in the holes, I did get a few from AtariGuide.com, a few from 4Jays, and a couple other places. I did buy one or two rare ones on ebay. Other than homebrews, I've only gotten 5 or 6 2600 carts in the past couple years.

Did those Intellivision ads get you mad back then?
Mirage replied to ComputerSpaceFan's topic in Atari 2600
I never cared about those ads because I only knew two peope in the '80s who owned an Intellivision, and one who had a ColecoVision. I never knew anyone with an Odyssey or any other system. Everyone else I knew had Ataris. So, who cares what the ads said, we all know who won. -
The 2600 is a timeless system. Most newer systems have nothing of value after the new systems come out.

That's a shame. I'll do my good deed for the week and give it a good home with several 2600's.

Dragster E.T. (the memories!) SwordQuest Earthworld (for the mini games, not for the "Quest" <cough>) Freeway? Porky's Miniature Golf Grand Prix Oink! BluePrint (I've seen people say this is bad) Slot Racers Superman

Holy cow, this could not have been said better. I've been transitioning more away from actual collecting to being more interested in all the new products and happenings (social things even like this site, and homebrews!). And none of that would be possible without people like those you have mentioned. So, a sincere thank you to each of you (and others) for helping out this hobby so much. For _creating_ and _sustaining_ this hobby for all of us!

After having a 2600 for a couple years, I wanted a computer badly. Somehow, I finally got a Vic-20. But, by that time, the C64 was out, so it was already getting hard to get Vic stuff. Still, I had a lot of fun with it. Around Christmas in a couple years, I wanted to upgrade to something better, and got my dad to get me an Atari 800XL at a clearance store for $99. I brought it home and was pretty disappointed. I think I was just so used to the Vic and had tried the 64 in stores, so I was comfortable with that. I didn't give the 800XL much of a chance. I got him to return it and somehow got a refurb or clearance C64 which (sorry!) was and still is my favorite computer of all time. Had that through Jr. High and the first two years of High School. Now, among all the other machines, I have an 800 with Happy 810, and I appreciate it a lot more, but I still have the 64 set up permanently...

IGN retro's Top 10 Atari 2600 Games from Activision
Mirage replied to 8th lutz's topic in Atari 2600
From the article: "You strafe over a series of randomly generated rivers (no two games are the same)..." Huh? My understanding was that there is a random generation routine built-in for space savings, so they could fit more screens in, but they are always the same (since it's not really random, it always has the same seed). Right? -
Muhahaha, I got the Tip Sheet and Solutions Sheet at MCGE last month for a quarter each! One of my fondest 2600 memories from back in the day was trying to solve ROTLA with a friend. We'd discuss it all day at school (this was 4th grade I believe), then I'd go over to his house and we'd work on it. Eventually, we ordered the tip sheet, and with a little help from that, we beat it. ROTLA really sparked our imaginations, and was one of my favorite games at the time. I'll have to sit down with it again some Saturday morning and try to figure it out again.
