I'd say more likely it's real, but the 100 "newly found" boxed copies that turn up in a couple months aren't real. That's probably why the delay. It takes awhile to make that many fakes, especially semi-convincingly. This whole "I'll just hold it for awhile to see what happens" thing just makes no sense. It's not likely to go UP in value after the initial hype, and the only things that can happen after that are 1) the cart dies = it's worth less, 2) more turn up = it's worth less.
If it were legit, and he were prudent, he'd have sold it awhile back.

I'm so bad, I've had a hard time dealing with the thought of possibly getting rid of some duplicate systems... heaven forbid getting rid of the last or only of a system! You never know when you're going to need that backup ColecoVision or O2!

-
You can see this stuff in the game listings on this site... for example, if you look up Sears Arcade Golf, at the bottom it shows related titles, which is in this case Atari Miniature Golf:

I hope it happens soon or I may be S.O.L. as I'll probably be without internet for awhile at the family holiday gatherings in the boonies!

You got a great deal, all those for a buck each! Wish I could find the same thing, especially all at once. I had tons of mint boxes and when I moved after high school (1990), threw them all away. I have 50 or so boxes now, but mostly just the newer re-release ones that everyone has, and commons.
Probably not as cheap as you want, but check www.best-electronics-ca.com as they have a bunch of boxed 2600 games.

17 left! Great deal, thanks for the tip!

I have heard that some of the sealed post - crash Space Shuttles did not include the overlays.Thanx guys =]
I saw two sealed ones go for about $2 on ebay not too long ago. Now I don't feel so bad about forgetting to bid. Plus everything here looks very good. The cart is kinda touchy (like many Activisions, in my experience), but there should be another one in the dupes pile.
Wow, I need to start watching ebay more often for deals like that. I'd love to have a CIB Space Shuttle.
Funny, I got it new as a kid, and I remember the switch overlay, but not the part that goes on the front of the 2600 with the instruction steps. I'll bet I had it, I just didn't realize it fit there. Oh well!
As an aside, it seems like no matter how much I learn about Atari, to this day, there's still more new stuff to see -- it always has a way of staying new for me.

It's going to be hard to top Toyshop Trouble from last year. For anyone who hasn't tried it yet it's an absolutely brilliant game.I'll second that. Toyshop Trouble is my most played 2600 homebrew, one year later.
I'm so disappointed that I didn't get this one last year. I wasn't around to do the Christmas deal last year. I know some may feel that a reissue would somehow make theirs less special, but OTOH, wouldn't it be great if more people could enjoy this game that I hear is so great? I'd buy a re-issue in a heartbeat.

Right now is the best time to get stuff, just make her think that they might be presents for her!I forget who, but someone has a sig that says "My biggest fear is that one day my wife will sell my things for what I told her I paid for them." or something like that!
That's the funniest thing I've heard all month!
I actually rarely ever (if ever) lie about what I paid for something. I just don't let her see most stuff coming in! It's funny though, one day last week when she intercepted a package coming in, she says, ominously, "Remember, I know what you have, and I will notice anything new." I just said "yes dear", but thought "oh... no... trust me, you have no idea the carts and other stuff I have hidden away... believe me!" Plus, she wouldn't know a Demon Attack from a Demolition Herby.
Yeah, I tried that, and it works sometimes, but when the name of the place it's coming from has either "Atari" or "Video Game..." in the name, that's a really really tough sell!

Furthermore, you can use 2 Star Raiders controllers in place of a pair of keyboard controllers as well. You'd just have to make different overlays for them, which is pretty easy to do. Very nice compared to the keyboard controllers IMO.

I first read this entire thread several years ago... I've moved twice since then. Someone seriously needs to make this game, and it eventually needs to be a cart available in the AA store. Really. Even if it doesn't have the custom KITT steering wheel, I'd be fine without that.
EDIT: I forgot about the obvious licensing issues. And even if it were possible to get the licensing, I'm sure HardWork had that contract in hand years ago now, right?

Yeah, my wife still thinks I'm just sweet to always offer to get the mail so she doesn't have to (it's at the other end of the condo complex). I always throw in taking out the trash, too (I'll get the mail and take out the trash, don't worry about it!) to throw her off the scent. I just don't know how long she's going to stay unwise to me. Actually, chances are, she knows exactly what's going on and is just keeping quiet about it until an opportune time for her to bring it up!

Like I always say: It's easier to get forgiveness than it is to get permission, but it's by far better to just avoid the subject altogether!

Uh oh... I've been pre-approved to buy the ~$100 of stuff from the store I want this year. If there's gonna be several more new titles, I may have to put in another expenditure request!

This revision fixes one other bug that I knew about and finally figured out how to fix. After you lost your gun and picked up the gun again for the first time, the death animation wouldn't appear any more, the enemies would simply disappear. That's been resolved.I'm not sure yet about the issues that Walter and Mirage1972 reported. Guys, if you could give me any more detail on how to make those problems appear, or what you were doing in the game right before they appeared, that would be helpful. I haven't been able to replicate those problems as of yet.
Steve
I'll see if I can get it to do it again, and if so, if maybe I can get at a corner of the object like you said. I don't do anything unusual that I know of, just shoot the enemy, and then the health pack will sort of scoot away a little bit until it's firmly in the center area of the playfield. It seems like it only happened on the screen(s?) where there was that center island thing.
-
Sorry if this has already been brought up, but... playing the current bin (adv211.bin), sometimes when you shoot an enemy and the health pack appears, it will move into the walls so it can't be grabbed. Each time I saw it happen, it happened to move into the walls in the center of the room, not at the edges. Don't know if it ever moves into the edges. Also, and this is extremely minor probably, but, in the maze, sometimes it appears, when you're moving from screen-to-screen as though there is a way you can go down, but you can't, because as you approach, it moves to the next screen. Not sure if this is significant, but I noticed it and was slightly confusing.
I should really read the manual. I swear I d/l'ed it... will scroll back to find it if it was posted. ---- EDIT: Found the manual, read it, can test better now.
Looks great though! That death animation is just awesome!

Looks like a graphics-modified Rally-X. Wasn't there a Rally-X demo/game in progress? To the poster: do you have a weblink for this project? I have a friend who is extremely into T/A's and would be interested in learning more about this project (I'm interested myself), totally apart from the Atari aspect.
yeah, that's correct, i mod'ed a rally x screen shot to explore how it would look.
seemed like that was the closest to what I am imagining.
my web site is http://www.thinkcontext.com in there you'll find
a bunch of art work, interviews, reviews, etc. based around the trans am...
That's great! I showed my friend the inflatable T/A and said he could make one of those instead of a real one. Easier to store!

The 800 should be able to pull of that game idea in my humble opinion.Ahhh, true, it could probably come pretty close. I don't think the colors would be that pure, but I could be wrong about that too.
-
First off, the 2600 can't display detailed graphics like that. Look at the screenshot for a better example of what the game may actually look like.Yeah, I thought that mockup looked more like an NES game, or maybe 7800. Certainly not 2600!
Also, on the 2600, the smoke probably couldn't be more than just flickering blocks if you want them to fill the screen, and even that would require some sort of RAM cart, as the RAM requirements of the smoke alone, never minding the rest of the game, would exceed the 2600's available RAM.Aye, good point. I wonder if the original poster would consider a C64 game instead? Granted, it sounds like he's looking for late '70s rather than early '80s, so probably not. Nothing late '70s can really do graphics like that. I wonder if it would be possible on a 2600 to just turn the "smoked" areas of the road white instead of an actual graphic?

I suppose what I don't understand is collecting games that are SEALED.Now, don't get me wrong....I
I only keep sealed games that I get that I already have carts of. If I don't already have that cart, the box is carefully opened (leaving the plastic wrap intact), so I can enjoy the game and other materials. I picked up sealed doubles of a lot of late 2600 & 7800 games (that probably most people have) and keep them sealed, just cuz, why not. There's no logic or rationale behind it, for me.
-
I have the CX-80. I bought in new in box a few years ago, and I know I've seen them recently somewhere NIB (atari2600.com maybe?). Anyway, I like mine a lot. It's built solid, and works great. I had the CX-22 back in the day, and from what I remember, it was good too, though I haven't touched or seen one in over 20 years now, so I can't really say. I got my CX-80 for $10 or $15, and I think the price I saw recently was $15 or pretty close to it.
BTW, works well with Centipede, Millipede as well.

I only collect the games that I want to play and am interested in actually enjoying. So far that is about about 140 or so VCS games. I have owned upwards of 250-300 at one point but I ended up getting rid of the ones I thought were pure crapola. This is my collecting philosophy. Between the 7800, 2600, and XE I have about 300 carts or so and these are ALL games that I will play from time to time. That strange OCD eccentric collector mentality has never struck me as useful. letès face it folks here. There arguably are many VCS games that are garbage and are not worth owning.Ah that really bugs me when people use "ocd" as someone who is into collecting, cleaning or whatever. Ahh!! I could go on a rant, but I choose not too. Ocd is screwed up and if the media choose to focus on it-they pick the least threatening, the cleaning side of it. There is a world beyond that and it is much more sinister. Anyway, shush me..
Thanks for saying that... I keep everything both at work and home extremely tidy and clean. Some people sorta snicker at me sometimes. But what's wrong with being clean?!?! Who is sicker? Some of them with their disaster-area workspaces or me?

He may have made some mistakes, no doubt about that, but the guy is still a legend, and I sure hope no one would be serious about treating him with disrespect. He did some amazing things at Commodore and deserves respect regardless.

Corporate greed, bad management, and a programmer who really isn't into the project = consumer disappointment.
When I was 8 though, it was still a lot of fun... I didn't know any better. Thought that's all the 2600 could do, I guess.
