This is how some idiot shipped a perfectly good (just a little dirty) PET to me recently and the results. Large, heavy, fragile item in a box with very little padding? Yeah, what do they think would happen? Fortunately, this one ended well for me (not so much for the PET of course), as I got all my money back and still have the unit for repair or parts. (More likely parts at this point since I now have a super nice 4016 and 8032). OH YEAH, and this was AFTER communicating with the seller good packing techniques, then they still didn't bother.

That's ridiculous. Who does not acknowledge that a box to a 20+ year old collectible is not part of the collectible? That's just pure ignorance. eBay FAIL.

I can see using Charmin maybe, but certainly not paper towels.

FS: Commodore 64 keyboards or main populated boards & SID chips!
Mirage replied to Mirage's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Plenty more available. It turns out, I do have some boards that still have the SID chips present and socketed. Untested though. With socketed SID present, will sell those boards for $12 each + ship. -
SOLD: Mattel Aquarius nice setup, including Aquaricart! - REDUCED!
Mirage replied to Mirage's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
OK, here's the specific itemized rundown to show what comes with each item: - Fully working Aquarlus, really fantastic condition. Boxed. - Computer with built-in power cord - RF cable - RF box (I don't know if this is original, but it is nice) - Aquarius Guide to Home Computing manual - Aquarius Simplified Instructions - BASIC keyboard overlay - New Era Incentives Aquarius brochure - Warranty reply card - Special FTC notice sheet - (This one is missing the cart slot cover, which will be filled with your Mini Expander anyway, or the other Aquarius has it present). - Another working Aquarlus, again fantastic condition, but this one I couldn't get carts to work with it (I didn't try too hard). Boxed. - Computer with built in power cord - RF cable - Aquarius Guide to Home Computing manual - Aquarius Simplified Instructions - Special FTC notice sheet - Mini Expander, fully working, fantastic condition, boxed. - Mini-Expander with both working joypads - Instructions - Tape player, fully working, fantastic condition, loose. - tape player with built in power cord - audio/data cable - Aquaricart! Brand new, well taken care of! - The Aquaricart! - Aquaricart manual - in NOS Nightstalker box that still has shrink wrap except where it was cut to remove contents, has plastic cart tray - Nightstalker manual - 2 Nightstalker joypad overlays - 2 Nightstalker keyboard overlay halves - (I would just stick the actual Nightstalker cart in this box to have a nice complete NOS-opened Nightstalker) - 4k expander cart, boxed. - 4k expander cart - box in fair to rough shape. No instructions or plastic cart tray - Logo cart, new unopened. - Whatever it came with, I'm not opening it. - Night Stalker cart, boxed. - Nightstalker cart - Nightstalker instruction manual - box in fair condition with plastic cart tray So there you have it, every item included. This is a very nice set, and when you consider that everything you need can be shipped to you all at once, saving all the individual shipping charges, this is a great way to get a ready-to-go Aquarius setup. The Aquaricart alone was I believe around $70+shipping. Thanks. -
SOLD! For sale, a really nice Aquarius setup. Everything you need. I gathered all this together and had my fun with it, time for it to go to a new home. Don't bother trying to gather all this stuff separately, and pay all the individual shipping charges, get it all at once and save time and money. Most importantly, it includes Jaybird's amazing Aquaricart (the deluxe version). The basic contents includes: - Fully working Aquarlus, really fantastic condition. Boxed. - Another working Aquarlus, again fantastic condition, but this one I couldn't get carts to work with it (I didn't try too hard). Boxed. - Mini Expander, fully working, fantastic condition, boxed. - Tape player, fully working, fantastic condition, loose. - Aquaricart! Brand new, well taken care of! - 4k expander cart, boxed. - Logo cart, new unopened. - Night Stalker cart, boxed. $200 plus actual shipping, will sell to US only. Don't deal with eBay unknowns, I'm a trusted AA member who knows how to pack and won't steer you wrong. You know what you're getting here. With the Aquaricart, this is a great deal. Semi-open to trades. I'd rather just sell outright, but if you have something interesting, I may take a partial trade. Primary interests are Commodore and Atari. I will itemize everything later, but for now, here's the overall pics (extra Aquarius not shown unboxed). Thanks! [Click pics to view larger]

I have a bunch of C64 keyboards, untested, but all there. I have mostly brown, but do have some white ones available. I'm talking about just the keyboard itself, not the whole computer. Good to fix those machines that may have missing keys or trashed keyboards. Again, these are untested and might work great, but might need to be taken apart and cleaned. $8 each plus actual shipping (US 48 only please). I also have a bunch of C64 populated circuit boards,. Again, untested, may or may not work. Good for parts/repair. $8 each (without SID) plus actual shipping (US 48 only please). $12 each (with SID) plus actual shipping (US 48 only please). I don't have any pics now because they're all at the back of a closet. If anyone was interested, I would dig them out though. Thanks. P.S. -- if you want a bunch of either/both of these, I could sell per unit for less. Let me know how many you want and I'll let you know what I'd take for them. EDIT: I'm out of the smaller/newer C64c boards, only breadbin style boards left.

I was getting ready to take pics of my Aquarius setup this weekend to sell. I have: - 1 great Aquarius, boxed, with all manuals - 1 more Aquarius that I can't get carts to work with (haven't tried real hard though), boxed - memory expander (I think it was the 4k one?) - Aquarius cassette player - Mini-Expander - Aquaricart, deluxe version or whatever it was called - a boxed cart or two , can't remember what they were offhand, one is sealed. If you're interested in this package, let me know. I'm not interested in selling it piecemeal, only as a bundle. PM me and I can go take pics and send them.

I just picked up a 4016 with 12" screen in good shape, and also an 8032 with 12" screen. I have an ugly for-parts 4032 also. I love them for nostalgic reasons and because they look so awesome. Pretty sure that they'd bore the snot out of anyone who doesn't have fond memories of them from BITD, of course. What personality though!

Serious, yes, that's a very early Vic-20 with the PET style keyboard. It's more desirable than a later PET and worth a little more, maybe about double the amount. Don't plan your retirement obviously. The guy asking $999 is fishing for a sucker, nothing more. Unfortunately, it looks like yours has some staining or something on the top of the case, meaning it's only worth about double the lower-end of the Vic pricing scale, so not much. Still, those keyboards are not common compared to the later style keyboards. I've had a total of probably 40 or more Vic-20's and have never had one of those. http://sleepingelephant.com/denial/wiki/index.php?title=Keyboard

How to verify a true legitimate factory sealed atari 2600 game?
Mirage replied to all_things_sealed's topic in Atari 2600
Also, none of the titles you specifically listed were shrinkwrapped from the factory. At least not in their original release versions. Usually through experience you can tell if they're still sealed or not, but if they're shrinkwrapped, it's not factory, so could be hiding something right there. -

I gave you a real response to your direct question also. Experience. -
How to verify a true legitimate factory sealed atari 2600 game?
Mirage replied to all_things_sealed's topic in Atari 2600
What is the point of having VGA grade them? Unless having "graded" games is just a personal interest, something you personally have an interest in for some reason. My opinion... forget that. I can see myself how nice a game/box is, I don't need anyone to tell me, in exchange for my money. Classic videogames are not a good investment (usually), but they make a great hobby. But, to each their own. Usually I see people interested in VGA grading when they are convinced that they're "investing", or are trying to resell for a profit. As to the answer to your question: experience. -
Exactly. Unless Andre81 has some real specific reasoning here, I think he's barking up the wrong tree. I think it's a matter of lack of knowledge about how those games came from the factory, in other words, assuming incorrectly that all games were shrinkwrapped.
-
And how are you so sure?
-
I have an E.T. and a Human Cannonball (and a couple others, actually), that are indeed factory sealed exactly like that. No shrinkwrap on those, just the top flap glued shut. I wouldn't be so quick to discount these as not still sealed. The HC one looks strange, like the glue is peeled up a little or something, but it could still be sealed. The others I don't have any doubt about.

Your interpretation. At any rate, I certainly hope this very dead squirrel has been sufficiently beaten now.

I made a suggestion ("why don't you post your questions in the TI forum") and gave a reason ("where you'll get a response from those in the know"). It was simple and to the point, that's all. I didn't feel the need to start a lifelong relationship over it, so didn't go into more detail. I thought I was being pretty clear. I'm sorry if you took it differently. I really don't see anything smartarse about it, just a simple and direct statement. I'm sorry that you somehow took it personally. It really could have ended right there though. I understand what you were interested in finding, and I was trying to direct you to the best way of finding out, that's all. It really was that simple. Now, can we please just let this thread die? I'll say it more nicely and thoroughly if it's more to your liking: if you ask a question in the appropriate forum where the appropriate people are going to see it, you're going to get some GREAT answers that will be very lively and that you will like a lot. The TI guys (girls too?) are a passionate bunch, and they will certainly provide you with as much detail and/or as many examples as you'd like! It's the best way to go about this. I've been here awhile (actually way longer than my user account would suggest), so I know where you're going to get the best responses/interest to your question. I honestly have your best interests at heart here.
-
Look. I am not a TI expert the way many in the TI forum are. I'd rather they answer your question in a place they will see it. That is the appropriate form, not to ask in a thread that should just simply die now, that has a title that is not necessarily going to attract them to it (mostly due to being in a forum they are unlikely to look in). I happen to know that many of the TI guys only view the TI forum, not other ones. I do not have a terrible attitude, I'm not simply bitching, and I am a normal person, and I'm not a malcontent smartarse. Now YOU are being abusive. Let the thread die. Go ask in the appropriate forum and you will get the good answer you're seeking. Please. Seriously.
-
OMFG, Really? What do you not get here? Take it to an appropriate thread where you will get a lively discussion, I'm sure. You are absolutely dense, aren't you?
-
Not convention, just common sense. Post a new thread in the appropriate forum. Not a big deal.
-
It's not that I am or am not. I could answer, but I'm not going to do it here. I'm just saying, this was a wanted post in a wanted forum that is over and should be closed or now ignored. Post up your own topic in the appropriate forum and get a variety of answers and opinions from the many TI users here.
