JiffyDOS just speeds up your disk access.... a LOT. You need to install the JiffyDOS in both the 64 and the drive, but then it's amazing. Has a nice wedge too. Very compatible with pretty much all software too. It's a nice addition to a 64 to make it more usable.
Like I just posted in the Vic thread, if you need a 64 IC to swap out, let me know, I have a bunch. I'd have to look to be sure, but I'd bet I have some U32's.
-
If you knew what specific IC was bad (if that is in fact the issue), I could look to see if I have a spare one (I may or may not, I have a lot more 64 ICs than I do Vic-specific ones). If it comes to that, let me know. Maybe one of the troubleshooting guides online (sorry, I don't have a link handy) would guide you in the direction of what IC is bad. Sounds to me like it could be the VIC chip itself, but I suppose it's possible it could be a different one.

??? you mean the period after the word beta ? It still doesn't work?
Copy/paste into your browser what Benny typed above, but then delete the space between the "." and the swf, and it will work. If you enter it into this forum without the space, it puts it inline, as below:

Hmm, mine wasn't checked, it was already unchecked.

I started posting up some Commodore 64 and Atari 8-bit games tonight (and a classic Mac one) on ebay. All of them are at least CIB, and some are NIB, all are in great condition.
A couple real rarities in there, including Invasion Orion for 400/800 (an early Epyx/Automated Simulations game), and Adult Poker by Keypunch for C64.
Thanks.

I just dug this set out again. I'd sell everything here (same as shown above, hasn't changed any) for $200 + shipping if anyone is interested in this nice set of Alpha Systems software and books. I had an offer of close to that for just the Impersonator last year.
They're all pretty much dead mint except for the obvious taping of the Impersonator paper to the disk sleeve, and the Chipmunk staples have come loose (easy fix).

Like others have posted, I've never heard of this GameZombie group, though in all fairness I've only been active in retro gaming a little over 15 years now, almost longer than they have been alive. I'm sure the opinions of a couple of unhappy 18 year olds will vastly sway the future direction of the show. It's truly unfortunate that they are so entitled that they feel it's ok to slam the efforts of what I know are a large number of people doing hard work out of enthusiasm for the hobby. Maybe had these kids taken the time to talk to some of the people involved, they might have learned why things are the way they are and gained an appreciation for what was going on. I'd challenge them to put on a better show since they clearly know everything that needs to happen.
Like, whatever, Daddy-O.

OK, no one brought me one to MGC, so open to having one shipped to me, or can drive a reasonable distance for a PET.

Still available.

Panasonic printer sold. Nice ImageWriter II still available.
-
Bump, still available. How about $12+shipping?

I think you guys are really digging into the semantics of the word "necessary". My translation of the way Dan was using the word "necessary" was that the information contained in the old publications was useful to him, as opposed to it just being pretty pictures to look at.
Seems to me the bottom line is that the content and visual appeal of these publications should be preserved as closely as possible whenever possible so it can best serves everyone's possible future uses.

I wouldn't have any issue with the price if I were able to attend for a normal period of time, it's just unfortunate for those of us who only have an hour or two and would love to make a quick run through to catch the highlights, it makes it not worth it. Not the fault of the show or anything like that, just unfortunate for those in a hurry

Oh, gotcha. I thought you were somehow suggesting the Indy 500 big box originally included 3 titles, which would not be the case
Yes, it probably did a great job protecting the 3 boxes as long as they were stored in there. -
that box housed 3 total ( 11 Indy 500 , 02 Air Sea Battle & 51 Blackjack)
huh? What do you mean by this?
-
Drat. Put me next (third or whatever) in line for the Waterworld box if everyone else before me passes. Wish I'd seen this thread earlier. My wallet doesn't though!!! Great deals.
-
OK, I'll ship these now if buyer wants to pay shipping. Cheaper than ebay prices, and you'd have to pay shipping there too. Anyone? Open to trades that take up less space, if it's something I'm even remotely interested in.
-
Same thing with box there is one on e bay for 109 right now. And the 2600 rarity guide says nib 105. So don't open it. Re-ebay it.
That doesn't make any sense. Anyone willing to spend that much on this would know it never came in shrink wrap, so would want to know the condition of the contents. They'd spend MORE on it with the shrink wrap off, so they know everything there is to know about it. It does not hurt the value AT ALL to remove the shrink wrap on this item. It's not original. It's hiding the contents of the box, and could actually cause damage being on it. Take it off, whether keeping it or re-ebay'ing it. It's the best thing to do either way.
-
I doubt most would mind having to paint them. At least, I certainly wouldn't.

Are you sure the pawn shop didn't shrinkwrap it? I've seen that happen a lot, they think they can get more for stuff, and of course they wouldn't know these were never shrinkwrapped, and I'm sure most people don't either.
-
I'd definitely unwrap it for all the reasons bojay said. It's not factory so who cares if it's shrinkwrapped, and it is very likely to crush the box over time. Shrinkwrapping something is not a big deal, lots of people have the bag sealer and shrink gun to rewrap them exactly like that one is. You can buy them from bag/box supply places for example. If you do open it, be sure to post up pics to satisfy our curiosity also. My guess is that the contents are probably as minty as the box is.

I'm officially out yet again this year unfortunately. There's no way I can get out of taking the kid to grandma's house next weekend. If it wasn't $30 to get in, I'd still stop by for an hour or two Saturday AM before leaving, but it's simply not worth it for a quick stop. It would have to be all day or both days or nothing
Everyone have fun! If I find out there was a PET for sale there, I'm going to be severely irritated! -
You will find this of interest:
http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/174831-atari-8-bit-related-bbss/page__hl__%20atari%20%20bbs
Best way is to forget direct connection with a modem and instead connect the 8-bit to the internet and telnet in. Avoid all the nasty long-distance phone charges of old.

Thanks, I hope so... no interest yet. If they're still here after MGC, I'll likely open it up to the possibility of shipping.

A bad PLA will cause the joysticks to not work as well. Those are usually socketed. As for Tempest's VIC IC, those are often socketed as well. I have seen both of these soldered though.
