  1. The article indicates it is from SNK. Why do you think the monitor will be better? Do you know something the author of the article doesn't?
  2. Looks like SNK wants in on Arcade1up's business. $500, with 50 games. https://www.techspot.com/amp/news/86352-snk-500-neo-geo-arcade-cabinet-comes-50.html 17" 5:4 monitor, let's hope it's better than the gen1 Arcade1up monitors.
  3. Yes agreed. There are plenty of unreleased Namco games still. Or they could have done a 20th anniversary Ms. Pacman/Galaga cab theme.
  4. The Ms. Pacman cab is nice. Zero interest in the others. Was hoping for a Tron cabinet.
  5. This is really cool. I'd bet there's a market for a conversion kit.
  6. I love Golden Axe, but I've purchased it many times and have it on my MAME Asteroids cab. While many arcades in my area had already died by the time it came out, it hung in there into my high school years. I remember dumping FOUR WHOLE DOLLARS of quarters into a machine to beat it with my Dad...a ridiculous sum to blow on a game in 1990. Those skeletons still suck to fight against!
  7. So does it have the scanning option, or no? If so, I hope it's a better implementation than the one on the Star Wars machine. It just doesn't look right. It looks like a broken CRT vs a working CRT...which I guess is realistic after all if you can find a real ROTJ machine in the wild.
  8. Ah, so it has nothing to do with the game. Seems like an odd bundle, but good for the people who want both I gueaa.
  9. Contra is a vertical game and Konami, like Frogger. It doesn't really go with the "theme", but could have easily been done.
  10. It's my second modded cabinet; I have a Galaga cab that I've turned into a vertical MAME machine. I followed ETAPrime's instructions for the first one. Piece of cake. I'm waiting for my cheap little amp to arrive so don't have sound just yet but other than that it's running well. I even tried Battlezone on it yesterday, plays decently considering the sticks aren't really set up for that game. I can pretty easily hit the fire button on the deck with my left thumb. This setup also works well for Defender, with that same button being used as a reverse button.
  11. Picked up an Asteroids cab on clearance. Had to have Arcade1up send me a new bezel because original was scratched, and they sent me the Costco Asteroids Deluxe bezel...whatever. I replaced the awful spinner with a second joystick, added two more buttons s, and Pi'd it. It works great as a two player machine for beat em ups like Golden Axe, or as a dual stick shooter with Black Widow and Robotron 2084. As I preserved the original button layout, I can still play Asteroids as intended and it looks miles better than the Arcade1up version. For adding the second joystick on the right, the predrilled hole for the spinner is used. The hole is exactly 1.75" in diameter. I plugged it with a black plastic hole plug and drilled out the center of the plug for a joystick hole. Looks decent enough.
  12. The Pac-Man 40th looks great. Galaxian and Ms. Pacman are missing though. How hard can it be to get Ms. Pacman on these machines?
  13. Frogger with "replacement" music would be a shame. I've purchased Frogger in one form or another a couple times over the years. The MAME rom I'm currently running on my Galaga Pi cab sounds just right...
  14. While the cabinet is cool, Burgertime was one of my least favorite games of the 80s. The music drives me nuts to this day. Looking at the Frogger cabinet I wonder if we will see other Konami games. A Contra/Super Contra/Top Gunner cabinet, for example might be cool. Also from Capcom, a 194x cabinet would be amazing. 1942, 1943, 1941, and 19XX in one would cover it. 1944 is horizontal and on the Final Fight cab already. I do love me some vertical arcade games.
  15. I think his point was that if a company with the experience and finances of Nintendo can't do this right, what are the odds that Tastemakers can?
  16. Does anyone else think that the four player control decks just don't look right on these 3/4 sized cabs?
  17. Tron. Please. Though I remember dumping my allowance into Golden Axe to beat Death Adder. Good times. Of course I have it on my Rasp Pi already, along with on my PS3, my Vita, and back in the day on my old Genesis.
  18. The riser needs to be about 3" taller for the regular cabs. The Star Wars riser is 15", and it's about perfect for me and I'm 5'9". Otherwise, you hunch to see the screen.
  19. That'd be sweet. Never actually played Discs of Tron, but I was 6 years old when Tron hit arcades. I remember it being difficult at the time and still a challenge in the late 80s where it could still be found in some arcades during the great decline.
  20. I sure would like to see a Tron cabinet from Arcade1up. If they can sort the licensing for Star Wars, they should be able to do it for Tron.
