  2. Had a great time at the MGC and it was a pleasure to meet 'Opcode'! Thanks Eduardo for listening to me and answering all of my questions (Glad your wife let you go for the weekend! :P )

Knightmare was COOL - my favorite of upcoming games ... (well DKA was nice also..) - OK so was Goonies (ya I liked Ping Pong too!!!) - send me them all NOW!

The expansion module (although I don't understand A THING ABOUT IT) was neat!!! Great piece of hardware - you are a Coleco GURU! ;)

Only wish that he would have sold me the module and 'proto' games for the HIGH expensive price of $3 each  that I'd offered :lust:   - he he.

It would have been great to meet Pixelboy and Retroillucid and other Coleco homebrewers ... but alas I know that is not always possible.

Kinda bummed that I didn't hook up with Jboypacman and Tempest.... missed them here and at the last MCGG meeting - good grief that needs to be fixed soon.

Overall - bought a few things and (hopefully) made some new friends

Thanks to the organizers of the MGC show

  3. Ok, badge runs are now closed. Everyone that requested one in this thread or in pm is getting one, 24 in total. You'll be able to pick them up in my museum room, and those that are vending and to busy to make it I should be able to drop it off.

Anyone that's helping to unload/etc. in the museum, I'm planning on being there between 4 and 5pm.

The badges are similar to last years, with the inclusion of a 520ST 25th anniversary logo on the back side.

Jeff31, you don't have an avatar, so I picked one for you. The abandoned Detroit ice house since you're from Michigan. ;)

I wondered what that picture was :) - thanks.

  4. Hmm... maybe (huge maybe) I could host a meeting in the future. I'm located in the Lansing area. That would allow 'west' coast members (including northern Indiana and Illinois) as well as Detroit area members (and northern Ohio) to attend... no promises but a middle ground might work out for most people...

Maybe someone from the Jackson area can host?...

  5. This is one of my favourite coleco carts:

    I agree!

This game brings back memories. Many years ago my then wife had a 'world record' high score of over 1,900,000 on level 1 (best I could do was around 1.5 mil). Years later when they started asking for verification we emailed twin galaxies and had them remove the score because we didn't have any 'proof'. Just looked. Her score still would place 4th.

Anyway my best so far is 83,300. The monsters are tougher on level 2... sometimes ya have to wait 'forever' before you can get the veggie!

  6. I was there...around 3:30

DS me scheduled something earlier in the day and I arrived somewhat late... didn't have time to check this post to see where to meet / whom was wearing what etc... So I missed out again...

    maybe next time...

That sucks... at 3:30, Tempest, my wife, and I were sitting at a table in the front part of the building to the right of where you walk in at. Jboy and his entourage arrived about 4:00. Chris Leach was a bit after that.

Arrghh... I remember 3 people at a table (it was most likely you three). I was listening to what people were talking about - listening for the words 'Atariage' / 'Classic Gaming' and such but never heard anything like that.

Next time I'll bring a big sign with me that says 'ATARIAGE' & 'MCGG'. :P

  7. Ya know... I've read this post for a while and I think... "I've have found squat in the last 10 years"... yeah 10 years... a Genesis sports game (etc.) here or there or an Atari 2600 Combat cart priced at $10!!!! - yeah right!

However about 12-13 years ago I did walk into a local store and the owner offered me... an Intellivision 1, 2 INTV 2's, 2 INTV 'computers' (one working, one 'quirky'), a keyboard, 12-15 boxed games and 5-10 loose carts for ..... $15.... I passed thinking what a crappy deal... :ponder: :ponder: but then my complusive desire to own as much as I could kicked in and the following day I went in a bought the stuff... :P :P :P

About 6 months / a year later EBAY kicked into high gear and the next time I went into that store the owner was like "OH WOW DID YOU GET A GREAT DEAL!!!!!!"

Yeah - maybe so but the stuff has been boxed up and stored since that time (Colecovision & Atari 2600 fan)...

I've pulled it out once or twice but can't get 'into' the Intellivision controllers...

    To each there own....

Enjoy your finds in the wild!

    Jeff

  9. Like everyone else, I've got a ton of eBay horror stories as well.

Wow! Maybe I haven't done a lot of EBAY deals (hears thunder in the distance... dodges some lightning...) but I've been fairly lucky(?) with ebay since 1998. The only deal I had go south was reported to EBAY with documentation and I was refunded fees and shipping costs. Now I'm not claiming that they are perfect... but if you have a 'zillion' auctions closing every hour then if only 1 or 2 percent go bad then this can add up to a large number of 'bad' auctions!

I for one am hoping that AL's pictures (based upon the original Auction statements) are good enough for a full refund.

PS can you put the carts in a dish washer on 'full' pan scrub cycle to save them? :) :ponder:

Hope that the shells can be saved somehow.....

    Jeff

  10. A bit better - 50,700 - with new camera...

but my so called 'old' Mac now won't recognize my camera --- it did a few weeks ago... after several 'upgrades' - SAFARI is useless (as well as other software from APPLE) now and I've switched to Firefox (which I have NOT upgraded in a few years)...

guess it's time to load Apple's pockets with my $ and buy a new mac - THIS ONE SHOULD WORK FINE!!!

    :( :( :( :( :( :( - EVIL BASTARDS THAT THEY ARE... yeah windows sucks also...

    Sorry for the rant...

10 years ago Apple was NOT like this...they are become more and more like the windoze I remember from the past...

  11. I still think it would be fun to have bi-monthly game nights. Meeting two or three times a year is great and all, but something smaller and more often could be fun too.

    Tempest

3 or 4 times a year seems perfect for me. Maybe 2-3 times down towards the 'Detroit area' and 1 or twice in the Grand Rapids / Lansing / Tri-Cities area.

  12. Are Leaf fans from Windsor close enough ;) :D

I don't know we might have to drop the gloves! :P

...or at least settle our differences over some air-hockey. :D

LOL - some of us Wings fans would like to see some of our Canadian AA members as well as Ohio, Indiana and Illinois AA members at this meeting (as long as our host doesn't have to open his house to 50 people!!! :) :) :) )
